Do you have a gapping problem at the top of your bag like I do?
In this video, we dial in the top end of the golf bag with a fitting session featuring the Cobra King Tec Mini Driver, Cobra OPTM X 5 Wood, and Cobra OPTM 4 Hybrid.

This isn’t just about distance, it’s about gapping.
We break down how ball speed, spin rates, and launch conditions all work together to create the perfect spacing between clubs so you’re never stuck between numbers on the course. If you’ve ever struggled with what to carry between driver and irons, this fitting shows exactly how to build a smarter, more consistent setup.

Firing this up right now and off the bat love this concept. @Lord Tox is made for video content keep it up
260 ball speed mini driver lol. Cobra mini is un-freaking-real
Love this fitting. Mini being Tee and occasionally off the fairway but just to get further not really worried about carry. 5 wood worried about carry number so hitting launch and spin numbers to be able to hit and hold greens. Then finding that club between your 5 wood and 5 iron to correctly fit your gap. Love this, great information.
Watched at work so can’t like currently, but will when I get to my phone.

Great stuff. With so many options at the top of the bag these days, you really can fine tune to your needs. Not everything needs to be a distance hog. Need launch and spin to play the game.

Yeah, I was bummed to not end up with a seven wood in the bag that I really wanted, but his reasoning for it made perfect sense.
This video was freaking meant for me. Almost my exact scenario im pondering through

Same dude. Finding the right gaps is tough, but FF33 helps a ton as does having an awesome fitter like Tox had.
Great video.
I have had a similar struggle with the top end gaps. For a long time it was Driver, 3w, 3hybrid, 4 iron (slightly weaker Ping s55). You get to that 230-240 range and there was just no answer.
Now I have Driver, mini, 7w, slightly hotter 4 iron. It’s a lot better, but the gap between mini and 7w is a bit bigger than I’d like sometimes.
I sound like a broken record, but I love the uptick in this type of content. So interesting and educational. I honestly can’t imagine being a part of this type of fitting/gapping, as opposed to my normal guesswork.
Once again, great work @Lord Tox !
@Lord Tox were the fittings you did in the videos part of your fittings for Cobra Classic, or was the content for these videos outside of that?
Love the comment of “I don’t get paid to play golf, and I don’t have a perfect swing”, and then you just lacing the ball the entire video!! Well done!

Any thought given to trying the X 9wood, or is that a step too far?

Agree. The video is fantastic. Being able to clearly hear the discussion between @Lord Tox and the fitter. Appreciate the really good discussion going on during it and the explanations of what the fitter is looking for, what they are seeing with the club and what adjustments the fitter is trying and why.

Its early, not much data for the 5w and if I had to guess the gap isnt as bad, but this is what im working through right now

Well said, my friend. The treasure trove of knowledge being shared is priceless, but it’s presented in a way that is easy to hear, follow, and understand.
It’s an interesting debate. As I am refining the top of my bag this year I’ve been trying to decide what I actually care about from a distance perspective vs a performance perspective at the top of the bag.
I’m chasing scenario more than distance it seems like.

Looks pretty good honestly. What’s your UW and 5i at?
UW 208
5i 197
That includes a couple UW swings that were intentionally shorter than stock yardages. After some time I can see that getting closer to the 215I feel like the 5W needs to be evaluated for something a little bit longer, closer to the 230 yardage

Loving this content.
Where did you end up setting wise on the mini, 5w and 4h? Or are you still dialing them in?
The 5W is at A1 4H is at H1 just like the last screen in the video
This is such a fun video. It always amazes me how minor adjustments to a club can significantly improve performance.
He did a great job explaining what to look for with your individual swing there. It also kind of helped me with some thoughts I have. I don’t have your speed, but I do see some of the spin issues with certain clubs.
Very cool @jdtox
Edit, @Lord Tox 🤣

I find myself leaning that way as well as I evaluate the options to put into the bag. I am starting to believe I get more value out of employing clubs that cover a variety of scenarios I might find outside of 200 yards instead of trying to gap something our perfectly.
What I mean by that is, I’d rather have a second tee club, something that goes high, and something I feel is reliable from sketchy spots to advance things, instead of simply looking for 200 – 215 – 235 yards.
A lot of this, which is likely different from your perspective so I would be curious to hear more about your take, is that my strike is variable enough with long clubs that the ideal ‘gapping’ rarely happens.
I have always been pretty fine with larger gaps at the top. Maybe I should put more thought into it.
Gonna have to watch this one a little later. I think your avatar is going to need a mic or camera added into it since you are becoming a social media icon.

Excellent stuff Cap – as someone that is starting to determine gapping (especially on the top end), I’ll def reference this a couple times. Keep this amazing content coming @Lord Tox !

I do a mix of the two, which hey, it’s all about needs for how/where each of us play. The biggest thing I take from this great video though is putting the thought into it, where most, well, just don’t.
I go second tee club, 235 deck club that I can elevate, then 215 as well as 205 clubs that replace irons and I can really manipulate up and down.
Awesome video and SO relatable for what I’ve done to the top of my bag. Great swing day for fitting Tox!
I’ll be watching this later today, my gaps are all wonky I’m sure
This is a fantastic video and something I really need to look at myself.

It really is. It’s stupid silly forgiving and stupid silly hot. I’m not getting 160 ball speed with it but it was going. Like far. It was awesome to hear the adjustments made for @Lord Tox MD are similar to the adjustments I made to my MD. Weight back and loft up just makes dialing in spin, launch, and distance so much easier. No more 280+ carry MD and it’s now a respectable gap.
The D to MD to 5W to 4h transition conversion made so much sense. It’s the same setup I arrived at but through different-ish reasoning. I’m close in my approach and reasoning and hearing that process really made me happy. I’m actually learning how to build out a thoughtful bag.

Could you expand more on this? Where do you worry more about scenario than distance?
I have a little of both. Mini Driver has found a home in the bag for scenario, I don’t consider it in the distance gapping of the overall bag just vs Driver. The rest of the bag I do still consider distance gapping.
Watched half of this and will get back to it after this meeting. That 3w isn’t doing anything for you! HA! Man love the back and forth conversation and changing of settings to dial that club right where you want it!
That swing is so pure!!!
Interesting stuff
Great content. I love listening to the fitter talk about the reasons why. Now, if only we had an actual hacker being fit instead of the guy that gets “That was a great shot” almost every time he swings the club
Note to self: Do not push the little triangle during a staff meeting.
Great video @Lord Tox ! Lots of interesting insights in there. Gives me a bunch to think about as I sort out the top of the bag myself.

Great video has me thinking if I need both of these hybrids.
I love how he talked you through the options. It was clear what he favored while still allowing for your preferences. Great video!
Cool video. I have a gap up top that I need to address between driver and 5W
I would love a 5 or even 7 wood but I spin the ball too much to put one of these in the bag. My problem is that I hit a 4 iron well. Too well to take out of the bag.

I’m with you here. Would be nice to have a fitted hybrid and 7W for each course or mood but I love my King TecX 4 iron in that spot.
I just watched this and the driver fitting.
First…. What winter rust. @Lord Tox was bringing the HEAT!
This video was great to learn how the fitter made the choices and then how that shaped other choices to maximize the impact the top of your bag will have for you.
The versatility of Cobras equipment to dial in that fitting is highlighted very well.

Probably don’t need it….. but what do you replace a hybrid with? Another wood after the 3w?
Great video I caught on the youtube yesterday morning
That was a good video. Maybe it’s time to consider the gap driver? All those settings would make me lose my mind. I can barely keep up as it is.
