It is in the video, but I hit my 54 degree Jaws Raw SW for my ace on #9 at Goat Hill. And you should get on twitter. Its crazy, bad and super fun. Plus I’m on there and post cool golf stuff. :sneaky:

Didn’t hear about the weight increase in the shaft’s along the bag @vgolfman . Totally agree, my reasoning is probably wrong?.
Great recap and explained very well!
I thought for sure your driver head cover was for the white V, then I realized it wasn’t an actual V when you brought it closer. Very nice.
Well done sir!

Thanks for the comment. And just because the ascending shaft weight works for me doesn’t mean you should do it. I know plenty of players who have a great success with basically one weight for their woods (say 50 or 60 in the driver and then 60 in their fairway woods) and then a second weight (maybe in the 70-85 range) for all their hybrids, irons and wedges. I don’t typically like random change or big jumps in shaft weights though. As always, get fit, ask lots of questions, be honest and get dialed in for what’s best for you. ???

Came across wong?. I do the same thing with the graduation of the weights top to bottom. Except wedges, they jump a little but don’t ever full swing non set piece’s.
My big flaw is the lighter I go the more the Hulk wants to come out and smash. Heavier in the irons helps reduce the green monster.
Still finding a sweet spot in irons. My fittings have shown this to be true. I just need to get to one that has more variety of shafts to test at one time. With all the new tech I can probably reduce some weight there. Have usually been around 120g
Much appreciated sir!
Love this series! Great watch! Solid bag!
Very interesting way to setup the driver to help hit a fade.

Definitely not normal. But it works for me, mainly because I don’t want to see the ball start left, even when hitting a fade. I want the face square to even a touch open, so a straight to tiny bit right start line and then fading off that. I am NOT comparing my meager game to Jon Rahm’s but he plays a push-fade as a stock driver shot and my ideal shot is “similar”, but about 40 yards behind. ????

Yeah, I like an open face look at address as well. I’d love to get a fitting to help eliminate the left side.
I like the set up!
Fascinating. Thanks for sharing @vgolfman

No way to truly “eliminate” one side of the golf course. Not possible. The club set up can certainly help promote a certain start line and make it harder/less likely to miss in a direction, but ultimately the club head is returned to the ball with a speed/AoA/face angle/impact location/path that will send it on its way, not to mention aim, wind and other factors. But again, get fit and let your fitter know your goals and they will do their best to help.
Having seen that bag up close and in person, hearing you describe it and seeing you pull off the shots makes a lot more sense now. ??
I have been friends with @vgolfman for close to 15 years now. We have worked together, at multiple companies, at THP and had a ton of fun.
It is crazy to me that I have never played a round of golf with him.
That changes at some point.

Thank you my friend and it is legit crazy for all the times we have been together, including on golf courses, we have never been in the same group. Definitely need to fix that in 2023. Almost criminal at this point. ????????
This was a cool watch, thanks for sharing @vgolfman. Curious as to your mention of improving your putting over the last few years, what did you work on to improve?

Three things… Start line, center face impact and lag putting. I have an indoor putting mat and was hitting 100 putts per day, 6 days a week for a little over a year with instant feedback on start line (two glasses in the tweet below) and center face contact (two plastic bottle caps in the tweet below). I would also do at least one hour-long lag putting session per week, but usually two, with all first putts in the 30-45 foot range and then having to hole them out. I have been working on green reading more recently and it looks like I generally read right-to-left putts fairly well, but struggle some on left-to-righters.
Takes commitment, reps and good feedback to improve in my opinion. And here’s another reason to follow me on Twitter. :sneaky:

That seems like a lot more work ?
@vgolfman thanks for the look at your bag, and for the putting thoughts above. appreciate your support for THP.
I watched this again and still have my same thoughts on those sock covers. :ROFLMAO:
@vgolfman you mentioned gapping a few times in the reasoning for your setup. Is this something you find is often overlooked in a bag setup? How do you recommend golfers like us get the information we need to fix those areas?
Absolutely love the video. The breakdown for why each club is in the bag is fantastic. The UW is my unicorn as well. I prefer a fade with the driver as well–I cannot control a draw with a driver. I cant with other clubs but not the big dog. Also a big fan of trying other shafts but switching for the sake of switching and sticking with you know works for you.

Your head over speaks ???
That was super interesting! Very detailed, and every club obviously has a purpose.
Those Apex Pro irons sure do look good!
Love MV taking us through his bag and have another episode coming out later this week.
