In the past few years, we have seen the development and debut of a plethora of apparel companies, from mild to wild, they all seek to find their niche and dig in on it. Today, we are going to introduce you to one such brand, but with a twist. Golfish is a company which isn’t looking to settle into one space, but rather to be diverse in their appeal to two different worlds. If you can’t already tell by the brand name, golfing and fishing stylistically blended into one apparel option.
Who is Golfish?
While some of these new companies seem like they are throwing things at a wall hoping that something sticks, Golfish is certainly different from that. Yes, the brand is obviously based around hopeful success, but deeper in this lies family.
Built around the upbringing of founder Jamie D and his four siblings which started in Ireland and shifted to Connecticut, Golfish is about blending two cornerstones of their upbringing, fishing and golf, into something that could be shared. The notion is that as different as the two hobbies seem, the golf course and marina are much more similar than one might realize.
The design premise is one centered around “sound country living” by keeping the preppy New England style and bringing a bit of modern whimsy. This also isn’t just a fly by night batch design company, no, Golfish has put in the time doing development and design with emphatic attention to quality. On the course, the boat, the dock, or just around town, Golfish has a variety of apparel options. However, as you will see soon, their origins centered first around some of the coolest belt options out there.
Golfish Harbor and Whalers Trucker Hats
If ever there were two examples of hats that fit in with the style Golfish is seeking to hit, the Harbor and Whalers check that box big time. After getting them both in hand, they are examples of simple and comfortable hats. While they aren’t tech material, the trucker mesh back keeps it breathable and the color options available in each style will go with just about anything.
The Harbor is a structured cap with a higher crown that looks more “finished” depending on what outfit you might want to pair it with, while the Whalers is the slouch style “dad” hat which brings casual broken-in comfort to the table. Both hats use Velcro adjustability and have nice firm bills which will hold a shape, they are available in multiple colors each and priced at $32.00.
Golfish Slub T’s
I think most of us, golfers or otherwise, love a good comfortable t-shirt for casual time. The key is simplicity in design and finding the right weight. These “Slub” T’s are 100% cotton but are super-soft as well as surprisingly light and breathable.
The cut has a favorable taper to it, so size wise I found them true to what I expect after the first wash of a full cotton shirt. Multiple colors and logo styles will be available here and at $28.00 they are solidly priced.
Golfish 1/4 Zip
This is where Golfish starts to showcase being more than a fly-by-night brand in my opinion. When it comes to blending fishing and golf, be it a cool morning on the course or any body of water, the outer layer can be a difference maker. You can tell that Golfish recognized that as this 85% Poly and 15% Spandex quarter-zip hits the mark of bringing lightweight warmth that keeps range of motion and flexibility.
That in mind, it is more of a tapered fit, so if you are used to looser fitting quarter-zips, you may want to size up here. In all though, the attention to materials and stitching shows excellence in design, as it should on a $125.00 pullover.
Golfish Belts
I’m putting these in one section because it makes the most sense not only in flow of the article, but because as mentioned earlier, belts are the cornerstone of the brand. Golfish sent in eight different designs which cover the gamut from silicone to web belts all the way to premium leather designs. I’ll admit, these blew me away in their attention to detail from the material to the buckles and everything in-between.
The Shorehaven Silicone Belt is as the name describes, a silicone design which means there is fitting adjustability through the removable buckle that allows trimming of the belt. The buckle is heavy duty but the strap itself is easily the most durable and well thought out silicone belt I have had in hand personally. Not only that, the application of the Golfish logo on the back is fun. The Shorehaven is priced at $78.00 and available in navy and light blue as pictured, as well as bright blue.
Slightly up the price scale at $82.00 is the Birchwood Buckle Nylon Belt that has some give and stretch to it while keeping a pin and buckle design that looks like it will wear well over time. Showcasing a single logo on the back like the Shorehaven, this is about as straight forward of a belt as you can get. The Birchwood comes in XS, S, M, L, or XL and in either black or navy.
Are you more of a web belt fan? Then the Woodway Printed Web Belt might appeal with the slide buckle design. Obviously though, this is much more on the whimsical and fun side of these with their two different color options (red and blue) that showcase contrasting patterns and the Golfish logo all the way around. This comes in 5 different size options from 30” up to 44” and is priced at $98.00.
Moving more into that “New England” prep style feel is the Patterson Printed Ribbon Belt which blends brown leather with blue and black weave/materials in three different Golfish logo options. The material is heavy duty and the leather is authentic with deep stitching bringing the different sections together. In terms of cost, $98.00 is where the Patterson Belt sits.
Finally, the showstopper of all the belts that Golfish sent in, the Greenwhich Gingham Prep Golf Belt. This is 1000% a nod to the more formal modern ‘prep’ style which makes you think country club more than anything. It isn’t everyone’s style, but it is one we are seeing become more appealing thanks to the blending of full leather and “gingham” checkerboard ribbon.
There are four color options in this belt to fit a variety of looks/needs, but emphasis and attention needs to be on the full leather strap that necessitates the higher $120.00 price tag, but also means longevity and durability.
The Details
As you can see, Golfish does a lot of things, but they also don’t take shortcuts conceptually or in quality. Is the style for everyone? Of course not, but there is definitely a contingency out there for such a style. All pieces from Golfish are available directly from the company at www.golfish.com with much more available than even what we covered here.
I just don’t think I could spill that for a belt. I do like the shirts. Seem like a reasonable price for good quality
I dig the color scheme they have with the hats. A bunch of good options.
Appreciate all the detail here. Lots of things to look at.
First of all, the T-Shirts are right up my alley. I love those ultra-soft, almost washed-out shirts. I bet they are really comfortable. The trucker hat is pretty nice too.
My belt game is woefully bad, so I’m not sure what direction I’d lean towards. Did you have a favorite, @Jman ?
As someone who loves to fish and play golf, I really dig this logo.

Ya I could definitely see myself grabbing a couple things out of here.

Man, I actually love the Silicone belts bang for buck wise since it gives me some color and durability all in one. But, the Greenwich Gingham Prep belts style wise are my favorites, plus, they’ll last a long time being full leather.

I was sort of pulled in by the Silicone as well. I can appreciate the other styles, it’s just tough to find a versatile match.

Agreed, I’ve had a couple silicone belts in the past but they weren’t well made, if I could find more colors that were as well done as these, it’d be something I’d consider. My bright personality just needs more bright color options haha
Not a fisherman by any stretch of the imagination, but I really like the look of those T’s and feel like they’d make some great vaca shirts to wear coming off the beach with the lobster look going ?.
Kudos on the write up and featuring a brand that I’d otherwise never give a 2nd look at.
I get Life is Good vibes here.
Designs are OK, price is a non-starter for me.
As someone who wears a lot of things designed for fishing to play golf in, I was hopeful. Until I saw the trucker hats. My feelings on them for golf are already out there. And the bold stitching on the quarter zip cheapens them. Hard pass. Couple of the belts are okay though, partly because of the logo. It looks pretty good on some, less on others.
Those 1/4 zips and T’s look very comfortable.
I really like the weathered red/pink colorway that is getting used. Need some of that in my closet.
I do love the hats. Q zip looks nice also. It’s tough for me to think about throwing down 125.00 however
Not a fisherman anymore, but the logo is cute/clever, so I give them kudos for that.

Same here. I love fishing, but this style really doesn’t do it for me.
Not a hard no, but I have no interest in what was displayed. The 1/4 zip was OK because I love 1/4 zips, but nothing special about it.
Plus, I am about as far from being a New England yuppie as I could be so I am way outside of their target market.
As someone who likes to fish and golf I dig the logo. I like a few of the belt designs, the T shirts look god and like the quarter zip
I like the logo and the 1/4 zip looked nice. Not sure I’d throw down $125 on the 1/4 zip though, and $75+ on the belts seemed really steep.
I could get along with this stuff. It’s a crowded space – plenty of options. I hope they succeed.
Nice review!
I like the logo. On their website they offer performance tees also. Their polos look good too. I think their prices are a bit high for my taste. I hope the company does well
