A few months ago, SST Pure came on the Off Course Podcast and talked a lot about SST PURe and the art of having a shaft PUREd. If you missed that episode, you can catch up on the conversation here. Rarely shown however is how it all takes place. How does the SST PURE process go about alignment?
Whether you believe it is necessary or not, is certainly up for debate, but the act of the shaft going through multiple tests by machine is not. In this video, we show from beginning to end, how the SST PURE process takes place and what is happening each step of the way.
After watching the video above and seeing a shaft get PUREd from beginning to end, what are your thoughts?
Many fitters across the country offer this service and if you would like to learn more about it or find out where it can be done near you, check out their website here.
I mean you could make the case for the shaft itself, right? Meaning we change shafts to get this new sensation, EI curve, etc. Is it placebo at the average swing speed level? Not to me, but to many it is. Most shafts are still bought by basic flex and what comes in the driver head they want. If we analyze that to the nth degree, why not go full bore matrix on it haha.
Which is a part that some look past in that if you are charting a shaft it’ll flex different on many sides so to be able to get them all to the most consistent degree to me seems to be a no brainer. Anyone can FLO a shaft and see that shafts oscillate different depending on the setup so to use a computer to minimize the oscillation, CPM variants seems like a good thing for golfers after all shafts are timing pieces and to be able to synchronize them is a good thing.
How did you go about doing this? I have had one experience, but I am curious about yours because its certainly something I would consider doing if readily available.
A fitter with a SST machine. Asked if I could have it done. They originally fit me for the driver, but I had since changed to a newer model. They did it for me.
I believe the list of fitters that do it is available from their website. I might be wrong though.
