Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this is episode 208. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, Jason Finley from Callaway Golf joins the show to discuss playing the right ball and the success of Chrome Tour.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Jason dive into many topics including visual technology and taking a look at the Callaway golf ball lineup. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as Jason Finley goes Off Course.
Episode 208 is here and Dan and Jason discuss the following topics.
The Success of Chrome Tour
The Callaway Golf Ball Lineup
The Dreaded Soft Cap
Changing Visual Technology
Playing the Right Ball
And so much more

Finally, as if we needed further evidence of Finley’s brilliance, he names the UW as the best club he’s played in his 27 years at Callaway.

Its surprisingly not surprising. That is a lot of years of clubs, Now that I have a UW I fully understand putting it up at the top.
Going to get this one downloaded and ready to listen to on my flight tomorrow.

It’s such an incredibly versatile club. An all-time great for sure.
LOVE the shirt @Canadan and great show as always. @JasonFinleyCG Congrats on 27 years and I will also bet money you game will be just fine come Grandaddy time.
I’m definitely one of those that, based on feel, will not always give a ball a fair opportunity. I prefer a softer feel with no clicking sound and will sacrifice distance, spin among others because of it. I’ll have to try and go with what’s best for my game. Looking forward to some of the upcoming trutrack designs.
Congrats on 27 years total / 10 years of ball, Mr Finley.
So his game being “bad” and soft capped must mean only like 75% of his shots from any lie are inside 3 feet instead of 90%? 😉
Have my first round with the Apex UW tomorrow, so his comments have me even more pumped!

All downloaded – got the latest one, and about 5-6 ones which I missed….. can’t wait to listen to it
Just finished.. great listening
27 years is fantastic. What a great listen. Makes me really want to try Chrome Tour when I’m done testing MindSet
Finally getting a couple of mins to respond here. Great pod. Really reiterated to me the importance of sticking to one ball and find one that works for your game.
Found it interesting about Xander and Rahm using the same ball but for different reasons. Lots of great info.
Great listen this weekend. I don’t care if he’s soft capped, you know Finley will bring it in December. I don’t think I realized how many visual variants they make of each different ball model.

I like having the options. The splatter is cool. Wish there was an option on the Chrome Tour for it, but I don’t think it will happen.
Yeah I think it’s great to see so many visual options. I’m a big fan of the update from truvis to the tru track. I think it kept the fun of the visualization/look while giving some real alignment assistance for those that need it.
Finally got through watching this. A great conversation and fun listen. Really appreciate @JasonFinleyCG’s insight on golf balls and always fun to hear him talk anything Grandaddy! Hearing him talking about the importance of consistency with the ball you play really resonates with me. I’m trying to be better about that as I’m trying to get better. Pretty remarkable he’s been there for 27 years. That’s darn impressive. Congrats on that! Thanks for taking time to do this one. Really enjoyed it.
Great episode, as always. Always enjoy Jason’s insight on anything golf and interesting to hear confirmation that JR no longer on staff. That was quickly passed over ?.
I really need to try the new ball, am intrigued on which one is best for my game. Played yesterday 36 holes with the same Chrome soft ball and still looks almost new after a lot of shots, despite not being new at start of day.
Finally got to tune in. Always a good listen. A soft capped Finley sounds extra dangerous
