Jeff Overton Moving From Mizuno to Cleveland

Just a few days after THP broke the story of G-Mac making the move to Srixon, the “Golf Hot Stove” is heating up again with another Ryder Cup player. Jeff Overton is a name that many casual golf fans had not heard too many times. That is until the “Boom Baby” heard round the world at the Ryder Cup and his reaction became a youtube moment. Overton, an Indiana University grad, turned professional in 2005 has been steadily climbing up the rankings since that time. His strong 2010 season earned him a place on the United States Ryder Cup team, becoming the first-ever American to make the team without a victory on the PGA Tour.

Rumors have been flying since his highlight reel moment at the Ryder Cup on whether this player on the rise would be staying with Mizuno or signing elsewhere. Through 3 separate sources, THP has learned that Overton will indeed be making a move and his next stop is Cleveland Golf. The deal is believed to be for the hat, staff bag, irons and wedges, as well as the possibility of the driver. The full club count is not known at this point. THP reached out to Cleveland Golf and they had no comment.

The company has one of the hottest golfers in the world in G-Mac joining in 2011 already, and now adds another of the brightest young stars on the PGA Tour to its stable of tour staff. THP already knew that their 2011 equipment line was going to generate a lot of buzz after the recent THP Demo Day, and now we expect their 2011 Tour Staff to be making waves as well.
