The rumors have been swirling for a while now, but today they are official. Jon Rahm, the #2 ranked player in the world is making a full bag change and joining the Callaway Golf tour staff in a multiyear agreement.
Rahm will transition into a full bag of Callaway and has been working extensively with the Tour Department dialing in every aspect of his new clubs.
A little side note in this, is before turning professional, Rahm was a Callaway and Odyssey player using their equipment at Arizona State where he won 11 tournaments and received the Ben Hogan Award is the best college player in the US back to back years.
“I’m so happy to be joining Callaway, and I can’t wait to start the year,” Rahm said. “The equipment is already performing well for me, and in my first round with the new setup, I shot a course record 59 at Silverleaf. I have confidence in my new Callaway clubs – and especially the golf ball, which has really impressed me during the testing process.”
He will officially make his Callaway Staff debut this week at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, with a bag that includes Callaway Prototype Woods, Callaway Prototype Irons, and a Callaway Chrome Soft X Golf Ball.
In addition to the Callaway and Odyssey equipment, Rahm will be wearing Travis Mathew apparel.
New year, new opportunity. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he represents the brand well.
sums up my thoughts better than i could
Just seems like recent converts to Callaway haven’t had "Earthshattering" results.
HUGE upgrade from Adidas.
Absolutely…I wonder how or if he has any influence on what Travis Mathew puts out. Will we see a new John Rahm line?
Perfect for throwing clubs? @Canadan is in if they have joggers

John Rahm..
Not too surprising, it looks like X forged to me..

no.
You and Jon will be BOYS!
This reason makes me think he could’ve signed for less than what a pro of his caliber would typically get. I’ve heard the days of big contracts are over but marrying rahms OG brand of choice makes sense
This made me snort soda out my nose.
I’ve heard in some podcasts that the Callaway golf ball has been a sticking point for some guys. Rumors that Rory didn’t love it, rumors that Sergio hated it (no idea how true, info is suspect at best). Will be interesting to see if it’s a seamless transition for Rahm.
Just had a quick look at the Travis Mathew website (I’d never heard of them) to see that their polo shirts are circa $90 a piece.
Top ten finish at minimum.
It’s a good sign that he played Callaway in college, and went right out with them this time and shot a course record at Silverleaf. Sounds like his transition may be a lot smoother than some other have had (Rose to Honma, Rory to Nike, etc.). Rahm seems to have cooled his jets lately, which makes him more likeable and will probably help his game – it’s hard to play good golf through a red mist.
I would think there’s going to be a big adjustment with new equipment, he states he’s hitting them well and shot a PB 59 at silverleaf, that said it looks as if he didn’t skip a beat and is off and running. In regards to his first tournament, look the guy is good, is it fair to say top 20? I think so. Could it be top 10 or even win? Very possible. I really like how he had ties to Callaway in his college days and is returning to them now. This is something IMO that happens a lot. Players like myself and many others may have played a brand back in the day, got away from it and returned with great outcomes. Sometimes equipment doesn’t work out for someone and they don’t play very well, but I have to fall back on the guy is going to be ok, he’s good, regardless the equipment you put in his hands I believe.
They run some big sales throughout the year. Love the quality & styles offered.
Will be fun to see how the Travis Mathew team scripts him at the Majors.
