Velocity. It is the lynchpin to golf performance, but more commonly we just call it speed.
Kinetixx however, has never been a shaft manufacturer interested in doing anything common, therefore Velocity makes perfect sense as a name to one of their most innovative shafts yet. Although it is not a new release, but with all the hot phrases and kitschy shaft releases out there, we thought it made sense to look at a design which doesn’t just spout off bold claims, but instead simply delivers.
While the entire Kinetixx lineup is as cutting edge as they come, I truly believe that their Velocity shaft is one which every golfer needs to know about.
Kinetixx Velocity Driver Shafts
If you aren’t familiar with Kinetixx as a brand, I urge you to take a peek at a THP deep dive into the company here or having a listen to THP’s own Dan Edwards on the Original “Off Course” podcast where he had a one on one with the leader of Kinetixx, Jason Horodezky here.
The reason I bring that up before we go any further into the Velocity offering is because, frankly, Kinetixx as a brand has been doing, and continues to do, things and push boundaries that many other shaft manufacturers simply do not, and in most cases cannot.
The Velocity is a design showcasing what Kinetixx calls “Dual-Flex Reactive Technology” which is a part of the greater picture that also utilizes Vacuum Curing to use as little resin as possible within the Nano-Carbon material. What this seeks to achieve is allowing the overall elastic strength of the shaft to not only be optimized, but to allow it to recover more quickly though the swing.
Now, that all sounds nice and tidy, but as someone who has played the Velocity in both its standard and LD (Long Drive) variations over the past two golf seasons, this might be the most difficult to describe driver shaft ever. From a profile perspective, the Velocity is a “mid-balance point and high-low kick point shaft”, but I prefer to call it pure sorcery. The Velocity has a feel which tends to absolutely break minds, as many THP’ers have experienced through forum testing, active is the name of the game here, except through impact.
As a long-term user of the shaft, I like to describe it like this. This is one you cannot simply rely on the ole waggle test for, because in hand it seems soft to flex. In the initial parts of the swing, it also seems soft to flex. However, it connects through the zone every single time. But wilder yet? The harder you go at it, the more the kinetic energy that the company describes thought their various materials and “pre-loading” they discuss kicks in, and I do mean kicks. The Velocity kicks like a mule but brings the most connected and predictable reliability I have experienced in a driver shaft.
Important in this equation is that not only does it carry over these traits through all flexes and weights (even into the LD model), and it is because of that, the Velocity can fit one of the widest ranges of golfers out there. Not only that, but it is also so efficient even with that active feeling profile that most end up flexing down lower than they expect. For instance, Kyle Berkshire uses the Velocity LD and plays what is essentially a softer flex than any would anticipate. While I’m no Berkshire, even I as a 110 range swing speed player fit into the D30 (equivalent of R/S for Kinetixx).
The Velocity is not a lower ball flight shaft design, this is one that will get the ball up in an impressive and easy manner, but it does such while generating a lower spin profile than expected while also generating more speed through its kinetic makeup. When Kinetixx talks about the Velocity being faster and more forgiving, they mean it, and the performance myself and others have seen back it up.
Parting Thoughts
While it may not be easy to track down a Kinetixx Velocity to give a try, this is a shaft design you need to try at least once to experience something totally different and entirely eye opening. While Kinetixx may not have the Tour presence or marketing other manufacturers do, scientifically they are punching at a whole different weight class than many.

You guys will not regret trying it. I bet it contends well with whatever else you put it up against.
Anyone had this long term? I know a lot of people said it was different from anything else they played, and difficult to describe, but any other words after gaming it?
Well, I have been out of golf action for a season and change, but it remains one of my favorites that I’ve tried. Enough that I purchased a second. I think it is a nice balance of flowy and snappy – it’s got nice feedback, but likes to be loaded or leaned into. It plays nice with my medium flowy tempo.
Still use it all the time in my short driver. Absolutely love it
Stiff but whippy at the end. Its the best feeling driver shaft I’ve ever had. For some reason just fits my swing. Best money I’ve ever given @Doubleb21
Medium flowy tempo, I feel like this is my tempo if i could describe it. I appreciate that description, because it’s difficult to compare one golfer to the next at times when talking shafts. Hopefully you can get back at it soon, and get these back on the course!
Another good description. What would you say your swing tempo is like?
I was one of the original testers and am still gaming mine. Love this offering and have converted one of my buddies as well. I think @GraniteRoost described it well. I’m probably a little long but try to focus on tempo and swinging smooth. Velocity definitely rewards that.
I didn’t realize there were testers, but just found the thread. Thanks!
I can be aggressive with my swing, but for some reason it just kicks at the right time for it to come through the ball.
I played one in the 2021 MC in a Rad head and I am noooooooot a slow tempo guy. This one works for a wide gamut, but the feel WILL shock you initially. Feels like it won’t catch up, like it can’t, but, it does.
Just seems so unique. Like it adapts to your swing, and helps you square the face while transferring maximum energy.
I mean, kinda? I’ve had a lot of people hit it, and get great numbers, that just could never mentally adjust. It’s probably the most unique driver shaft I’ve ever worked with.
I’m shocked at how tight of a dispersion I’ve been seeing. I’ve seen distance gains. But the value for me really can be found in acquiring that feel.
Plus, it looks REALLY cool paired with the Paradym. It’s a confidence inspiring combination and that makes a huge difference in my book. I’m excited to keep dialing this thing in.
Love to hear it is working for you.
Ohhh tough one. I dont play fairway woods, but in my second driver I didnt hate hypersonic in that either.
Fair point about the fairway wood in the bag. There is a chance this question switches in a week to kinetixx hybrid shafts as the great big Bertha has been in my cart twice now….
fwiw, I only took a handul of swings of @JB‘s kinetixx at the quest cup this year and regretted not pulling the trigger sooner now that mine just came in
The Velocity was good. The Hypersonic is spectacular. May order a Mach in D30 also. Would love to get direct comparison Hypersonic vs Mach in same flexes.

did you buy the hypersonic directly from them? wondering how much it was if you don’t mind sharing
No. Through Callaway
ah, gotcha. I wish their upcharge wasn’t the full charge LOL
Hope you enjoy it. It is a really good shaft.
