Golfers love options, especially when it comes to the finish of the clubs which they are spending their hard-earned money on, after all, you should be able to enjoy what you are looking down at, right? This year, when it comes to aesthetics, Cobra Golf is embracing the saying “less is more”. While the accents and finish on their LTDx drivers and KING Cobra wedges have garnered a lot of positive feedback, it still seems as though practically everyone loves a dark finish.

Let’s start with driver. If aren’t familiar with the new LTDx lineup from Cobra, you can check out the most detailed technology and design rundown anywhere here. This new LTDx Black driver release has all of those same bells and whistles, but in a matte black crown and sole with deep grey accent stripes as opposed to the gold/orange of the regular release. Even more exciting news than another finish option to go with the two standard ones, is that it will be available in all three heads, the LTDx, LTDx LS, and LTDx MAX. Bringing the whole thing together will be a new premium aftermarket UST LIN-Q White shaft and blacked out Lamkin grip.

But wait, there’s more. SNAKEBITE is going dark as well, with the company now offering the KING Cobra Black Wedge. These are endowed with a satin black QPQ finish which should both reduce glare and offer ample durability. Beyond the finish, these are the same wedges which offer some of the most aggressive and sharp grooves on the entire market, not to mention standard groove length in the low lofts, and full-face in the high. All three grinds will be available in standard and ONE Length as well as the same loft options as the chrome finish. The Black wedges are paired with KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 shafts and Lamkin Crossline grips.

The Details
Both the LTDx Black driver and wedges will be available at retail and through online stores on 3/18/22. Price points will be $599 for the big-stick (driver), and $149 for the short game weapons (wedges). What are your thoughts on this expansion offering from Cobra? Is the finish enough to get you to jump at the given prices? Let us know what you think on the THP Community as well as in the comments below!

Those look sharp.
That looks mean! I like the black wedges too, no glare! What is the white LinQ shaft? Is that just a paint color or a new shaft?

Only info I have is the name, @JB might know more
Guessing the extra cost comes from the shaft they are including with it?
I do prefer the look of the blacked out driver, but not enough to pay the extra premium (unless that shaft gives better results)
Oh… my… goodness…

I was about to go searching on the UST website but was just there earlier this week and didn’t see it.

I saw it somewhere that it was the M40X…but I can’t be 100% sure
man I really really really really like the looks of that driver.

I’m most curious to see everyone’s reaction to just this. I think knowing more about the shaft could soften the blow, but 100.00 for removing gold and orange accents might be tough for some to swallow.

That seems pretty standard for what is essentially a custom offering compared to other OEM’s

The price point is right at that point for me that goes maybe…. I’d easily drop $50 more to get colors I want. When I was sniffing around the Taylormade and saw the $100 jump to change the color of the face I was turned off. Given my Cobra affinity this is in that middle ground of maybe.
The all black looks really good on those!

It’s the great debate for sure.
Though 599 is definitely better than 699 haha
Holy ****.

Yeah, if it had been for a different coloured head with the same stock offerings, I wouldn’t even consider it – it all comes down to the performance of that shaft for me to then make a decision on whether it is worth it
Sticking another $100 on the price brings it in line with more of the other OEM offerings, so negates some cost savings if someone is trying to save some money on a new driver
I don’t see it as a true custom offering though – it is a retail option with no choice in what colours you could have
Does anyone know if this means we may not see any other limited editions throughout the year?
For those wondering about the shaft, it is a new LINQ from UST Mamiya that is part of the m40x line. It is a low to mid shaft and should pair ridiculously well with this head.
It is not made for, but aftermarket similar in cost to the rest of the LINQ lineup.

I would assume they are still doing their majors releases but have no confirmation

That was one of two knocks I had on the wedges. They’re firm/hot, and the chrome was BRIGHT. This finish….woah momma.

Maybe not but I think a murdered out look will always sell in my opinion and $100 for a premium shaft is kind of a steal compared to other premium shaft upgrades which are usually north of $200
That driver is sexy as hell!
Somehow I missed the Lin-Q White shaft pairing the first time through.
Holy ****.

That shaft is the key imo. For sure.
I definitely like the looks of this a lot. Just not sure that shaft would be right for me.

Always been my issue with chrome wedges. Plus Cobra wedges have always been on the firm side, except those raw ones those are nice. I like the black and hopefully less firm than the King black ones from a couple years ago.

The raw ones were the most perfect cobra wedge on the feel factor. Being QPQ, I’m not sure if we will see a feel different here or not.
Wow that driver is BEAUTIFUL

Ltd X is pretty low spin as is. Not sure a low (ish) shaft would be good for me. I’ll just wait for @jdtox to buy it and then I’ll try it.
repeat to self “I don’t need a new driver, I don’t need a new driver”

I’ve been looking for a wide sole wedge to help on sloppy days in the midwest. I expect these to have the same feel as the chrome, or at least really close, but they look real sharp….

I was waiting to see what kind of limited edition color scheme they might come out with for this line. I love the blacked out look on the driver.
Its in the cart but haven’t pulled the trigger yet

do it!
Oh this is just perfect. This comes out right after I found a deal on a blue. This version is absolutely gorgeous. Might need to see if I can find a new home for the blue sparkle pony. ?
Very Tempting! Wondering if these will be an option for 2022 Morgan Cup participants.
I would pair these with the King Forged CB/MB irons for the full blacked out bag treatment.
The driver looks really good. Still not as good as the Blue, but close.
I like the looks a lot.
but I’m still partial to the Blue Unicorn for Team Paradise reasons.
The black out look in the driver and UST Mamiya lin-q shaft is an amazing combination.

I wouldn’t think so on either count. Morgan Cup usually is new equipment line, pretty sure those irons don’t qualify being a couple years old.

If the shaft works, then the extra $100 could be well worth it
Without trying to detract from the conversation – if someone went for a fitting and was fitted to one of the ‘original’ stock shafts but wanted this head, would that be an extra $100 or would it be the cost of the normal colour head? That is where I would find it very hard to justify the extra just to have a black head
