Golfers love options, especially when it comes to the finish of the clubs which they are spending their hard-earned money on, after all, you should be able to enjoy what you are looking down at, right? This year, when it comes to aesthetics, Cobra Golf is embracing the saying “less is more”. While the accents and finish on their LTDx drivers and KING Cobra wedges have garnered a lot of positive feedback, it still seems as though practically everyone loves a dark finish.
Let’s start with driver. If aren’t familiar with the new LTDx lineup from Cobra, you can check out the most detailed technology and design rundown anywhere here. This new LTDx Black driver release has all of those same bells and whistles, but in a matte black crown and sole with deep grey accent stripes as opposed to the gold/orange of the regular release. Even more exciting news than another finish option to go with the two standard ones, is that it will be available in all three heads, the LTDx, LTDx LS, and LTDx MAX. Bringing the whole thing together will be a new premium aftermarket UST LIN-Q White shaft and blacked out Lamkin grip.
But wait, there’s more. SNAKEBITE is going dark as well, with the company now offering the KING Cobra Black Wedge. These are endowed with a satin black QPQ finish which should both reduce glare and offer ample durability. Beyond the finish, these are the same wedges which offer some of the most aggressive and sharp grooves on the entire market, not to mention standard groove length in the low lofts, and full-face in the high. All three grinds will be available in standard and ONE Length as well as the same loft options as the chrome finish. The Black wedges are paired with KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 shafts and Lamkin Crossline grips.
The Details
Both the LTDx Black driver and wedges will be available at retail and through online stores on 3/18/22. Price points will be $599 for the big-stick (driver), and $149 for the short game weapons (wedges). What are your thoughts on this expansion offering from Cobra? Is the finish enough to get you to jump at the given prices? Let us know what you think on the THP Community as well as in the comments below!

I wouldn’t think so on either count. Morgan Cup usually is new equipment line, pretty sure those irons don’t qualify being a couple years old.
[/QUOTE]
that’s why she’s getting the new ones coming ?
The black does what black does and makes the snakebite look a little smaller. I had to compare them to make sure it actually wasn’t. Now they just need some black irons to go with it all.
This driver and shaft combo for the price is really hard to beat. Love the black and white look. Lin-q is a great shaft
I’m considering this option, I love the blackout look. I just don’t know if the new Lin-Q shaft is a good fit. I have an aggressive swing and typically do better with a lower torque shaft. Was fit into a Paderson Launch TP shaft, and this doesn’t seem to be in the same realm. Enjoying the TEE E722, so not an urgent purchase from me
Really in strong consideration of picking the blacked-out LTDxLS up. Wanted to wait to see how the draw of the MC turned out – but the LTDxLS will be in my bag this season. The blacked-out version is straight ??. Though not sure about the shaft option.

I’m also waiting to see the majors special edition ones 😉

I wonder why there isn’t more info about this shaft…it kind of sounds perfect for me to be honest. If the shaft was actually white I may have already jumped haha
A day later still pondering. If the shaft is even maybe in my wheelhouse….
That driver is way out there on the cool scale. No way to justify purchasing it now, but it surely would look great and it would be fun to swing with that shaft.
Man that head is sick!
These really do look awesome!
I think they should have done the drivers, fairways, and hybrids all blacked out…. as the standard offering. Not a fan of the standard colors.

Agreed! I do want to know more about it as well. I just picked up a Ventus TR 6x that I really want to pair with this – but if they’re working with UST on this – I want to try that as well!! More info on this shaft (and maybe more options) would be great!
The all black looks amazing, I must say. Well done Cobra!
Got the 54 and 58 in versatile on the way!
Nice looking options. Love that the LIN-Q M40x is the shaft!
Definitely throwing some stuff on the BST tonight to get the black driver!
I sure hope they have these at retail up here to test out….they are bad-a** looking.
Man I just bought a driver but the blacked out head looks amazing. Not sure I’ll pull the trigger yet but it’s definitely calling my name!
The one thing that I am curious about with these limited edition heads is why they cannot be ordered with a different shaft than what is offered. Sometimes, the shaft definitely comes in a colorway that fits the theme of the driver. For example, one of Cobra’s limited release drivers last year had orange in the head and came with a Tensei Orange. However, in this instance, the black head would look good with any number of shafts. It would seem like Cobra would sell this out in two seconds if a buyer could purchase the shaft of his/her choosing as an alternative to the stock offering.

Agreed. Case study of one, but if I could gm have ordered a stock shaft I probably would have gotten caught in the release and ordered one. I didn’t as I’m not sure how well the shaft will agree with me.
I wonder if deals with the shaft supplies play any roles in that?
I also wonder if customer service would swap if you called them.

My guess…inventory. They probably have enough shafts to go with this head since its a limited release. If they sold the shaft separately could be issues.

Maybe, and that is the logical inference, but the drivers are offered in regular, stiff, or x stiff, so it couldn’t be that there were an exact number of shafts purchased to match the number of heads manufactured.

Actually from what I see this black driver is only offered in stiff or regular so I think its possible that is exactly the case.

Specs would definitely suggest its softer feeling based on that torque number but with low/mid properties. Its interesting for sure based on what I’m seeing I’m thinking its close to the PX iM series shaft. Specs and description are similar

I was recently fit into a Paderson Ballistic Launch TP which I think has similar properties, but the torque is around 3.0

I like the feel of the Riptide CB (3.9 torque)…maybe a full point won’t be noticeable???

I think it would be very noticeable. When I made my custom Handcrafted shaft we changed the torque from 3.3 to 3.8 and I could tell the difference.

I hadn’t looked at whether there was x stiff, but had noticed the stiff and r flexes. What makes it even more interesting is that the LS head is offered with only an r or s shaft and yet the LS head would most likely fit more players who would be fit into x, rather than r.
I’ve been playing the Velocity so I don’t think the torque would bother me at all. ? ? ?

I know torque isn’t the end all be all, but anything much north of 4.0/4.5 or so I struggle with the feel of.

I need to swing a similar type shaft to see how it feels before making a purchase like this (I’m not in need of a driver at this point).
Here’s to see what their next special editions might be in the coming weeks

Since I’ve got a couple Cobra shafts I get along with, for me it’s mostly a question of if the black colorway is worth the upcharge to me.
But that last part about waiting is intriguing as well just to see what else comes…. Plus I’ve got a trip end of April that I’m trying to dial into. Unless I bought off the rack I wouldn’t have enough time to game it before then so I can afford to wait.
Slept on it. Thought about it this morning and said **** it. LTDx inbound. Gonna be interesting to see how this pairing compares to my Callaway drivers. Don’t think I have any more Cobra adapter shafts in my hoard.
So who has swung one of these, haven’t seen anything about this shaft we were curious about

Trying to get out for some time with it this week.
I have the LTDx w/ Tensei Raw white. I went into LGS yesterday and they had this so I hit mine and then put this shaft in and hit some. My avg dist was basically the same but with my shaft dispersion was a tight little ball and the LinQ was much more spread out. Guess I’ll stick with what I’ve got…for now.

Raw White and the LinQ should have felt quite a bit different…not shocked that you saw better dispersion if you were fit into the Raw White

My fitting for the RW was me texting the fitter I saw 3 1/2 years ago and saying this is what you put me in then, what’s closest now in case I can’t wait to order before seeing you. Just wanted to see how it’d feel as I like the blacked out look.
