UPDATE! TESTERS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED! STAY TUNED FOR ANOTHER GREAT FORUM TESTING SIGNUP COMING UP SOON.
At THP, we believe that testing should be done not only by us, but also by the golfers just like you. One of the cool features about being an active member of the THP Forum is that we look to you guys/gals, the consumers, to give feedback on equipment to golfers all around the world. Each month we send out iron sets, drivers, hybrids, putters, trainings aids and golf balls to our active members to be a part of the THP Forum Member testing.
Earlier today, THP Live (if you missed it, watch above) had guest David Neville from Callaway Golf on to discuss the latest lineup of equipment and answer your questions. During that stream, we mentioned giving a bunch away to THPers to test and review on the forum.
Each participant chosen will receive either a new driver or hybrid from the lineup. Your job will be to review the new Big Bertha B-21 for a period of 30 days. Like all of the forum testing, you must be able to check in daily (or close to it) to discuss and answer questions. At the end of the testing period, the club is yours to keep.
How to Sign Up
We will select 10 THPers to review the equipment. (5 for each)
What is your current driver and hybrid?
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
We will announce the testers next week in a new thread on the THP Forum and then get these shipped out to you.
Driver: Ping G400 Max
Hybrid: Ping G 22 degrees
What do you like most about what DNevs said in the live stream?
I tuned in to learn about the hybrids and got drawn in (as it were) by the driver talk. I’m hitting over 50% of my fairways with a consistent generous fade, and I know I am giving up distance. I’m not sure there’s a better driver for me, but DNevs has me intrigued. The idea of lower spin combined with more forgiveness in a driver, as well as a more forgiving hybrid, has me salivating.
Driver Nike SQ
Hybrid: Adams Idea a2os
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
I like how they said the B21 would be good for high handicappers with fast swing speeds. That describes me to a tee. Long but too much side spin tough keeping it in the fairway.
NO hybrids but old Taylor Made 3 wood
and old Dunlop 2 Iron
I love how Dnevs talked about how the B21
Is good for fast swing speed high handicappers as that is me, a 15-16 with
100+ swing speed hitting 300+ yard drives
Callaway Mav Max 9* is current driver, I do not have a hybrid in the bag
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
When Dnevs said the B21 was both a slice and spin killer, and that it had a similar spin profile to EF sub zero, it got me very excited. The Mav Max does a great job of helping me straighten out my miss to the right (with heavy weight in the heel), however I think I’m losing quite a bit of yardage, especially for someone with my swing speed, due to a high spin rate (~3500 rpm). I would love to test out and review the B21 and see if it has the perfect combination of draw bias and low spin to help me maximize my distance off the tee while also keeping me in play on most swings (it may be the unicorn I’ve been after for that spot in the bag).
Current Hybrid: Ben Hogan VKTR
My favorite part was hearing this a perfect driver for a higher swing speed player who struggles with spin and missing to the right. It’s almost like they designed this driver for me!
Hybrid: Titleist 818 19deg
I liked the discussion of the drivers weighting and the related points of squaring the face. Aiming to correct the slice and the consequences of that make a lot of sense — though fixing is easier said than done.
What really impressed me about the interview was the information about how Callaway is not abandoning the SGI category but rather bringing back the technology and performance while making clubs that don’t look like traditional SGI clubs. It’s almost like a twin-turbo engine: without opening the hood it looks the same as every other car out there but once you lean on the gas pedal you realize what’s lurking beneath.
Current Hybrid: Callaway XR 3 and 4, stiff shafts
The tech of the B21 seems to fit my flaws perfectly. I’ve always battled a slice and have high spin numbers, and my SS is consistently at 100+. The Epic SZ is good for me at times, but still has me searching for a better solution. Dnevs description of the club makes me think that the B21 is what I’ve been looking for.
My current hybrids: Callaway XR OS.
I was contemplating a demo after the summer season of the Mavrik. Hit my friends SZ subzero twice and it was longer than my Flash. Intrigued by the idea and tech that make the B21 a lower spinning and more forgiving version.
Current hybrid: Callaway XR OS 3 and 4. Easily the longest and easiest I have ever hit.
I recently hit a friend’s Mavrik Sub Zero a couple times. It was longer than either of my gamers by more than 10 yards. So I was looking to demo the Mavrik line after the summer. Now watching this, I am intrigued about the B-21. If it is more forgiving and more easily affects a draw without the bias created by offset and weight moving than I want to give it a go. I am a high spin guy who wants to avoid the right side. The only thing I wish was addressed in the video would be the sound and feel of the B-21. That was a big issue between the Flash and the Mavrik, and highly dependent on what your preference is. The Flash was louder and less muted than previous offerings. The Mavrik was supposedly less so but not a return to the muted sound previous to Flash. Thanks for your time in presenting this information and the chance to obtain this line for testing.

Current Hybrid – TaylorMade SIM
Like the spin/forgiveness combination driven by the new technology.
Driver – Ben Hogan GS53 10.5 degrees
Hybrid – Original Callaway Apex 4h
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream? Low spin, easy to launch and forgiving straight distance really excites me as I continue to struggle to make center contact on a consistent basis.
Callaway Apex 3 & 5 ( 2014 version)
Perimeter weighting! It’s worked for every other club and I think it will work for this one. Especially for toe hitters like me.
drivers:
callaway- 47
cobra- 13
ping- 12
taylormade- 9
titleist- 8
tour edge- 5
hogan- 4
nike- 1
mizuno- 1
tommy armour- 1
wilson- 1
srixon- 1
Operator error but it would be nice.
Driver: Epic Flash & g400
Hybrid: Apex 4h – 2015 version
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
I was glad he answered my question about the AI face changes. Even more so about how the loft of the club effects the changes to the AI face. He even went in to it on the irons, which was a direction I wasnt thinking about.
Ping G400 Max and Ping G20 22 degree
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
That it helps take off side spin bringing down the draw and fade. I used to hit the old 90s big berthas before getting my ping set. I broke it and got the G400 Max and while it is a much better driver I’ve had too much of a slice on mishits.
, but I liked what I saw and heard about this driver in the THP Live video since I’m inclined to fade or slice with my existing driver and struggle to gain height. Will be watching for the reviews with interest.
What Dnev said that I liked is that the B21 helps people who slice the ball, and also lowers the spin rate. Huge for me. I’m very inconsistent with my driver, and slice it more than I draw or hit it straight, I’m hopeful this would help.
Current hybrid- top flite aero
What Dnev said- I like how they said the B21 would be good for high handicappers. Long hitter but too much side spin tough keeping it in the fairway.
Driver – Epic Flash
Hybrid: Callaway XR
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
I was big on the fact that they said the B21 would be good for high handicappers with fast swing speeds. That’s the type of golfer I am and I think that would be very beneficial to me. I’d be interested to see what that does to my game.
Current Hybrid: Big Bertha WARBIRD (old)
What Dnev said: these clubs are very forgiving And great for high swing speeds as that is a great fit for me. I transition from baseball to golf several years ago and haven’t looked back. I currently own the old big berthas from 10+ years ago and would love to see the advancement in technology callaway has gotten to with these beautiful drivers, hybrids and irons!
Cobra F9. I do not have a hybrid. The spring effect and distance fained off the tee
Hybrid- I don’t currently have one.
I love the fact that he was talking about how the B21 is for a higher handicapped player with faster swing speeds. Being 6’4 245 I can generate some fast speeds, but I have trouble keeping it in the fairway. I think the Big Bertha B21 will be the answer to all of my problems.
My current driver is a Cobra F9 with a Black Atmos Tour Spec shaft, and the TaylorMade M2 hybrid
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
DNevs had a lot of good things to say I thought but I was most interested in his dialogue about the lower spin and forgiveness of this driver and in general. As I am always looking for more forgiveness in the driver department.
Current hybrid – none
What I liked most about the video and b21 driver?
I loved that they said it will help with fast swing speeds and make less spin on the ball . I am a 6 handicap and play 2-3 rounds of golf a week. My average driver distance about 265-275 yds. I currently have a lot of spin with my driver and it fades / slices %85 of the time thus losing that extra distance. but I have learned to manage it. I’ve been trying to fix this for a while . Would love to test this bad boy B21 out and see if it can help create less spin in my drive and go longer and straighter and lower my handicap.
2. I was intrigued by the characteristics Dnevs said this driver has. I have been searching for a driver to fit me. I have a 110-115 swing speed and tend to have a little on the high spin side. However my miss is typically a high weak push fade. The problem is most draw biased drivers have super far back cg and have a high launch and spin. Then the low spin models are typically a little fade biased which exaggerates my miss. From what he said this driver being draw biased and low spin makes it sound like this thing was made for me.
Hybrid: Nike covert
I’m definitely interested in seeing the results with how the ball flight differs with the lower spin rate. I often have no confidence hitting a driver or hybrid into wind where the spin rate affects the ball flight a lot more. I’m also curious how it will affect how I like to play my shots (usuallly try to hit a draw)
Current Hybrid: TaylorMade Burner 3 Hybrid
What I liked most: Listening to the thought that went behind making the clubs, including the designed shaft. My woods (driver, hybrid, and 3 wood) are all 6+ years old and enjoyed hearing about all the new technology that this offers
I liked what Dnev said in the video about how it would be good for higher handicap players. I feel like that would bring more kids and just the number of people back into the game of golf that is slowly dissolving.
No hybrid in the bag
I like that they are talking about eliminating the right miss. It has been the worst part of my game for so long. If this can fix it I’ll be over the moon. Get rid of that high weak fade!!
Current hybrid is GAPR Mid
What intrigued me the most is the focus on eliminating the right miss which is what i struggle with off the tee. If I could find more fairways then sign me up.
Nike SQ
Taylormade burner rescue
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream?
Helping golfers with the slice and with high handicap. Looking forward to trying new golf tech
My current hybrid: Nickent Genex 3DX
My biggest takeaway from the video like others is the forgiveness this club boasts especially for the slice right miss. That is something that I struggle with terribly off the tee, and the ability to compare ball flights with the epic flash is something that’s very appealing to me.
Adams idea (A12 )Hybrid
19 Handicap.
First Driver: Big Bertha titanium!
Current driving is long with draw however has Tendency on off centre hits to slice fade. BB may eliminate this??
Callaway X2Hot pro set a 6 degrees, current driver. Wilson staff 3 hybrid.
What do you like most about what Dnevs said in the live stream? The forgiveness for high handicappers with high speed. I am a long driver who rarely gets to play. I need a play driver that will hold to 130 course swings. I have a tendency to spin the ball a lot when I dial back. So I’m interested to see if it can help.
No hybrid in the bag at the moment.
Currently about a 15 handicap
Play at least once a week and hit the range as much as possible. Looking for a hybrid to add to the bag. Been trying some and have not found the right fit.
Have a golf IG account and post about my game as much as possible.
Current hybrid: Ping G15
the coolest thing I learned from the stream is how square it sits and that it’s not going to send everything left.
What is your current hybrid: Taylormade RBZ stage 2
What I like most about what was said in the livestream:
I really like the fact that this driver is a "slice killer", I am a rookie in golf and I truely enjoy this sport, but I am really not consistent off the tee. My drives are either dead straight ( around 20% of the time ) or way right off the fairway. I saw some reviews of the B21 on youtube and I was really interested in what this driver could bring to my game.
I also like the idea of "aim it where you want to hit it" as Dan said because I do exactly what he explained in the livestream. I aim way left just to try to get it on the fairway.
I think this driver could really suit me and help my game a lot.
It would be a pleasure to give you my honest review!
Titleist 916 H1 17* hybrid
I need a draw biased driver but a hybrid that would not over hook.
