damn… Indoor testing required.. ???
Terrible Podcast again! :ROFLMAO:
Great opportunity to test out some great wedges for some people.
The Grandaddy contest and the announcement of the Rhapsodo testing also.
THP keeps bringing the ???
Action packed episode, testing galore this is going to be fun
I’ve played with a few current Epson Tour players because they have had an event at our course the last couple of years.
Most do not have caddies, if they do have a caddy it is usually family/significant other.
It costs a lot for them to stay at these events. They usually stay 3/4 to a hotel/airbnb to save money.
Their passion is to get the LPGA tour but the path is hard. Epson is not a money maker for them. Total purse at our event was $100k. Winner won $30k. But their is a cut and most places won’t cover the travel costs. And they need to pay their own entry fee.
Here is a list of players that I have played with:
Sierra Brooks (She is currently sponsored by TM but this is very rare)
Ana Paula Valdez
Robyn Choi
Maria Torres
Elsa Diaz (She was our forecaddie at Briggs Ranch but still counts)
Great podcast….errr, I mean, it was the absolute worst. A lot of exciting testing coming up for THP’ers and the Grandaddy contest is going to be fun.

Tech studio contest and of course the crowd sourcing
I love the crowd sourcing idea, that would be such an amazing thing to do. I’m sure it’s something that would be very deeply appreciated by the recipients.

It’s such a neat idea, but no idea if it is dead based on current response. We will ponder more
Doomed to fail – Yeah the Wilson Baller Box made no sense to me
Player to get a lesson from – Lee Trevino
Callaway CB wedges – Cool testing. Not what I am looking for but good luck to those interested in testing.
Favorite time of day to golf – Winter I like noon just to be able to finish. During the summer I also like around noon because it takes dedication to be out there in the heat. Recently the pace is still brutal in the summer. I just play in 4:45 this past weekend. Odd. Also PHX during the summer starting at 3PM is actually the hottest time of the day.
Rapsodo – I am going to see what I can do with testing as I am intrigued here. Nothing obvious for indoor testing yet so I have to think about it.
Instructor – I have had 2 awesome instructors over the years. I have really found 3 or so swing thoughts that I keep from all the lessons I have had. Totally worth it. The big thing that changed for me is the takeaway. Don’t go inside and it stopped a lot of bad things.
Private Jet – I have been fortunate to fly on a company shuttle quite a bit. So much better experience than commercial. Not private at all but it is an awesome experience.
Epson Tour – I was sent an email a few years back from one of the local courses that was hosting a women’s minor league tour. Not sure if it was Epson or not. They were looking for rooms for the golfers and caddies to stay so they didn’t have to pay for hotels. I was about to offer my place up but it was when I was living alone as my fiancé, now wife, had not moved in yet. They did have a line in there that they were looking for families and single women and single men should probably not offer. I understand that statement so I just let it be. I have known a couple of guys that have sponsored a mini tour player for a season or two. Interesting concept.
Granddaddy contest – Interested to see some of the entries. I will put some thought into this one.

You forgot about getting active in the weight loss competition.
Good listening material en route to the Pirates game.
Super cool testing opportunities. Neither are a great fit for me but I’m excited to follow along.
Also definitely think the crowd sourcing idea is a major win. Personally, that’d be a really fun follow. Let’s do it.
And, of course, putter mode engaged. Let’s go.
Just got home from work and getting ready to start this. Looking forward to watching/listening.
That was a fun listen to break up the annoying fires I had to put out at work
Hmmm…out of nowhere I get an email about flying private. “They” are always listening. ?

Yea I know from talking to these ladies how hard the road to the LPGA is. Some with the talent may never make it because the money may run out and then Q school is the only other venue.
There’s just not too much money on this tour. But there is talent and personalities. Even those with sponsors don’t have enough to cover travel expenses for a whole season unless they win.
One of the biggest issues is they play at some of the nicest courses during the best times of the year. Doesn’t sound like a problem but with that comes the priciest hotels and accommodations for 4 to 6 days a week if they make the cut.
Thanks to everybody that tuned in today. We have some fun coming up on THP
I have my Grandaddy answer.

re-listening to this Episode to fill in all the gaps I missed while at work. My ears really perked up when you said you wanted a lesson from Tom Purtzer. My home course is home to the Purtzer Golf Academy. However, Paul Purtzer is the teaching Pro. Tom’s Brother.

I haven’t been able to listen to the entire episode yet, but just getting to the part where you all are discussing taking time off and try to come back after an injury and it is resonating so hard right now

And it’s so true how some of the bad habits/faults disappear after a layoff. At least until they resurface or are replaced by other habits/faults, which inevitably happens.

Being a professional golfer looks real glamorous and alluring for the top stars, but it’s a hell of a tough existence for the ones trying to get there. It’s a hand to mouth existence and most of them are spending a lot more money than they’re making. Golf wouldn’t be near as enjoyable when one bad round means you don’t get paid, and a mediocre finish means you might cover travel and lodging expenses for the week.

Great show, enjoyed watching that. You guys pod very well. Looking forward to seeing what THPers think about the Cally CB wedges!
Well done.
Going to have to go back and listen to it again. My wife called about 15 min in and I missed the next 20 minutes while on the phone with her. The Odyssey contest sounds amazing! Love the idea of sponsoring a mini tour player.

I’m not super familiar with them, but I think so. Although a quick search I don’t think they fly from a local airport. 🙁
