The week of golf was filled with odd weather, lots of upsets and some very dramatic golf. When the final putt dropped, the winner was Matt Kuchar who dispatched of Hunter Mahan in the finals.

  • love the Betti… he rolled it well this week. Signature #1 FTW!

  • Man Kuch sure seems dialed in with every single club in the bag right now. Such a good player!

  • Great win by Kuchar, those iron shafts in R flex may find their way into my Morgan Cup irons!

  • A win for graphite iron shafts!

  • And they say he swings too flat…Grats Kuch!

  • Very interesting bag! The Fourteen Golf 4 hybrid was a surprise in addition to the 62* wedge. Love seeing the Bridgestone/Betti marriage in the bag, very Morgan Cuppish!

  • Kuch just seems to get it done, as good as Bridgestone hybrids and woods are I am somewhat surprised that he is not using them too. Great win Matt!

  • Similar bag to before. I think the 62* wedge is an interesting addition along with the Fourteen hybrid. I would like to learn more about Fourteen and have a chance to swing and hit their line of clubs and wedges. But great to see all the Bridgestone clubs in his bag! Really the most underrated company out there.

  • Well done, Matt… But if the #1,2 and other high ranked players keep getting trumped in the first match, look for a change of format to allow first round losers a chance to move on in some kind of round robin thing. Sponsors aren’t paying to have journeymen pros dominate TV on the weekend.

  • Great effort by Kuchar.

It was funny to see golfers all rugged playing overseas when it is so hot here in Australia.

Once again match play provided plenty of upsets but this will happen every year. It’s the nature of match play.

That being said i’m glad it’s only once a year and we can get back to the stroke events this weekend.

  • Congrats to Matt. I saw him win the US Amateur at Cog Hill’s Dubsdread course when he was just a college kid, with his father caddying for him. He was all smiles then, and he still is.
I think this is the second tourney win this season in which the pro has used graphite shafts in their irons, which surprises me.
