Back in January, we brought the information on the first entry within Mizuno Golf’s Signature Series, the S-3 irons. That release was the beginning of something new, but also a pivot of sorts to make sure that they also stayed true to their roots.
As we have come to know, both the Mizuno Pro and JPX lineups have been at the forefront of iron innovation, constantly creating lineups that set a standard in the industry. The Signature Series however, was created as a way to ensure that they also had options which took the needs of the modern golfer and melded them with undeniable Mizuno tradition.
When the S-3 were introduced, Mizuno told the world that the Signature Series would be a long-lifespan limited creation which would exist over many cycles. They also made it clear that it was just the beginning, and that is why today they are officially announcing the addition of the Mizuno Pro S-1 irons.
Mizuno Pro S-1 Irons
While the S-3 irons are as clean and classic of a split cavity design which the golf industry has seen, many were surprised that the first Signature Series release was not a muscle-back. After all, when you think pure player’s irons from Mizuno, most minds inevitably wander to some of the most legendary blades of all time.

The S-1 delivers arguably the most innovative yet classic MB yet from Mizuno. These irons are all about precision and workability, which makes sense given that they are the type of club which only the best ball-strikers typically dare to use. The S-1’s use Mizuno’s foundry in Hiroshima, Japan to utilize their Grain Flow Forged HD Process to take a single billet of 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel and create these works of art.
Additionally, the beloved Copper Underlay is also present, as is the Soft White Satin finish which matches the S-3’s. These are all also part of Mizuno’s Harmonic Impact Technology which takes into account every single material, application, radius, and much more to fine tune the irons within specific hertz zones. That is a critical element to why “Nothing Feels Like a Mizuno”, and the S-1’s certainly aim to live up to that slogan.

While there is a limited number of things that you can do to a muscle-back compared to a modern cavity-back, Mizuno collaborated with their Tour players to ensure no stone was left unturned with the S-1. The “channel back” design on the rear of the club allowed for the movement of mass to not only increase the vertical stability of the irons but also create a much more consistent CG placement than most traditional MB designs.

The overall shaping is as compact as one might expect, keeping the topline thin and the offset minimal. One of the more unique changes though when compared to the 241 MB’s is that the toe shaping with the S-1 is much squarer, this was done via direct feedback from some of the best ball strikers Mizuno works with on Tour. Also, the sole is flatter here with less camber than the 241, this combined with a sharper leading edge and one-degree of added bounce means that the S-1 is aimed at working best for those with a shallower angle of attack to ensure less digging and optimal workability.
The Details
It is crystal clear that every single addition to the Mizuno Pro Signature Series is going to be not only art but designed with the most confident ball strikers in mind. The S-1 irons will be offered in 4-PW (RH/LH) and paired with the KBS Tour 120S and Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips as standard options. Pre-sale begins 8/28/25 and coming to retail release on 9/11/25.

combo of these could be super fun. I love how these look. I have had the S3’s on my mind since I really gave them a shot about a month ago..
These are putting bad thoughts into my brain. Like I should play a mixed set
S1 – 8, 9, P
S3 – 6 & 7
I really shouldn’t by wow they are so good looking I want to make bad choices
Great write-up @Jman The look of these S1 is super nice compared to the S3.
These look soooo good!
Excited to see these – they are beauties.

I like both. Haha
Thank you!
These look and feel so amazing. If I played a little more I’d be all over them. They’re exactly what I like in this type of iron and suit me more than the S-3.
I was curious to see which iron they would recommend for me. And I have to say, I’m not surprised with the result. I wasn’t expecting to the S-1 on this list lol. They look way too intimidating for me :ROFLMAO:
Recommendation:
More Workability: S-3
Best Balance: 243
More Help: 245
Alright! Finally got a little monitor time in with the S-1.
This was a crazy session. I had been traveling and sitting a lot and hadn’t swung a club much lately. I couldn’t remember the last time I hit in the bay. And boy did it show at first. I shanked a couple warmup wedges, for example. ?
And then proceeded to hit the 7 iron really well!! Golf. Go figure.
I’ll post some more detailed numbers, but it really was a lot better than expected going in. They do suit me well from a looks, feel, and tendency standpoint.
They feel absolutely amazing and aside from being a little upright for me I’d feel comfortable with these in my hands.

Well the ball looks bigger because it’s closer to the lense.
Last shot and how things ended up ^.
The details ^.
It was pretty enjoyable. First one wasn’t great. But then it was interesting how much of a human reaction I had shortly after. See one come out of a higher window and I quickly went to adjust the launch.
Then I remembered that I’ve worked hard to deliver my current clubs in a way that launches, so I decided not to adjust that. Stick with it and just go with it. I launch lower on course anyway.
It was a little upright for me but I think I adjusted pretty well and was happy with most after that for what I was trying to do shot to shot. Put a little more speed into the last one and overall I’d say they were remarkably consistent and a pure joy.
No better feels in golf, and performance was really consistent for not hitting them perfectly. The shaping definitely suits my strike pattern better than some others.

So got to hit these for the first time today. Plugged in the Modus 120X as there wasn’t a graphite shaft I wanted. First off, looking down at this iron is just money, reminds me of my old MP4 irons. Beautiful thin and rounded top line, short heal to toe length and slightly squared off toe shape, looks so good. Ive hit every blade that Mizuno has come out with lately and I gotta say, these have to be the best. Just that solidness and yet softness these have is just unreal, thank you copper layer.
So it seems it’ll come down to these and the T100 I tried today as well.

fwiw, I tried the X Forged with a modus 105x on Saturday hitting balls with @Scooby45. It was really good. Overall, second only to M15, in terms of effortless swings. A lovely iron, really
Doing some fun shots including the macro.
