This might be the most exciting metal wood release that we have seen from Mizuno Golf in some time. Sure, the drivers have generated a ton of success and buzz, but the fairways have always been a bit under the radar. That isn’t to say that they haven’t been good, quite the contrary, but they have certainly offered increased spin as opposed to being distance driven. Finally, Mizuno is rounding out their fairway lineup and offering that “players” option with the introduction of the new ST-G Titanium metalwoods.

Mizuno ST-G Titanium Fairway
First thing is first, this release is not one intended to take away from what the other ST Fairway releases from Mizuno bring to the table, rather, this is all about having something for everyone. The decision for Mizuno to create and release a titanium and steel fairway that is absolutely focused on being a low spin and high speed clubhead is an exciting one.
The ST-G is the most compact shape that we have seen from Mizuno when it comes to fairways. It retains the face depth which, in my opinion, has always been a standout trait of other Mizuno offerings while bolding around it a much more nuanced and flowing headshape which keeps a footprint that lets you know there is a specific player to which it is aimed.

Internally, the CORTECH chamber is present with its 3.6g floating weight and TPU design allowing for more flexion than in other similar fairway woods, according to Mizuno. The placement and shaping of that chamber has not only positively expanded the COR area for playability, but it has also been integral to helping reduce the spin.
The SAT-2041 Beta Ti face is, of course, built for speed and has a unique CORTECH design behind it to streamline the spin creation and consistency. The body itself is Titanium (Ti-811) as it met Mizuno’s demand of weight savings without sacrificing strength and durability. The crown is the same Ti-811 material, though it features a waffle structure underneath to maximize the weight savings even more.

The sole is where the action is happening, besides the aforementioned CORTECH Chamber, there is an eighty gram Stainless Steel plate and 8g Stainless Steel screw. Why that much weight so low? Not only has it brought the vertical CG down, but also forward, which again means lower spin and more speed. The ST-G fairways are aimed to be bombers, and that is an exciting addition to Mizuno’s metalwood arsenal.
The Details
The ST-G fairways will be available in 15.0 and 18.0 degree versions with the 15.0 also being available to lefties. As with the drivers, each fairway head also utilizes Mizuno’s Quick Switch adapter that gives a 4-degree range of adjustability and allowing the 3W to play from 13-17 and 5W from 16-20. The standard shaft options are the Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green RDX 70 (S/X) and Mitsubishi Chemical Kai’Li Blue 60/70 (R/S).
Release date for the ST-G fairway is 10/5/23 with pre-sale beginning on 9/25/23. Price at retail for this release will come in at $399.95.

I’m not sure what is happening but I’m having all kinds of trouble with my STG 3W now. It used to be one of the most reliable clubs in the bag. But now if I’m not hitting it fat I’m pull hooking them off the planet.

Does it have any correlation from when you switched driver/shaft?
Yeah, I think a lot of it has to do with the different setup and swing I need to perform with the proto shaft in my driver to keep it in play.

Figured that might be the case with how unique everyone describes that shaft

Yeah it’ll be a process to see if I can get it back with the 3w. I’ve really enjoyed my time with it and hope there’s more good times in the future.
Well… with their reduction in prices and my need to restructure the bag… I went ahead and got an st-g 3 wood and st max 5 wood today for the price of or less than one of this years 3 woods from other OEMs. Can’t beat that with the good reviews these got over the past year.
I know it seems weird to do st-g 3 and a max 5…. But different purposes. 3 wood is really only for tee application when driver can’t be hit or when chasing a second shot on a long par 5 where the 5 wood will basically be my green approach club from about 215-230 ish (we will see once I get it on the course how far it goes and what not).
Had to order the 5 wood because they didn’t have the shaft in stiff. Took the 3 wood to the range to see how it went. Off the tee it was beautiful. Felt great. Ball flight is what I would look for in a 3 wood off the tee.
Off the turf… it was fine. Certainly didn’t launch it super high but again, this won’t get used for that tooo often.
All in all, looking forward to getting it out on Sunday or sometime next week

Honestly This is my setup as well.
ST-G 3 Wood and Max 5W for the exact reasons you state.
One off the Tee and one of the deck.

You still enjoying your combo then?
For the past few months, I’ve been REALLY struggling with STG 3W. Like the worst I’ve ever hit it. Zero confidence and would almost rather hit driver off the deck than touch it.
Well today I found myself at a course where I can’t take driver off the tee on several holes due to length. Because of that I had to hit STG off the tee a few times. I absolutely crushed it. There was one hole that had a creek running through right at my driver carry number (250). Had to take 3 wood and hit a frozen rope of a bullet draw that ended up being just 10y short of the creek. On another hole I needed a 240 (max) cut to work towards a dogleg right. I hit the perfect little fade that ended up just on the edge of the fairway with a perfect look at the green, exactly how I drew it up.
When this club is good it is so effin good.

I have been able to get out with it twice now and used it probably 5-6 times on the tee. loved all of them except one and that one was still good.
Havent used it off the deck yet haha. But the shots off the tee have been rockets. good piercing flight. most are finishing where my mediocre to not great drives are landing which is a huge plus

It is a low spin rocket launcher, and when I’m swinging it well that’s awesome. But when the left miss comes out, it gets scary fast.

I’ve hit one right to left shot with this thing in roughly 25 shots hit with it between two rounds and a range session. Thankfully…. The left doesn’t usually come in play for me with 3w haha
Was able to finally pick up my st max 5 wood today so getting that out Wednesday with @JW Smoove. Crazy that it’s a lot bigger than the 3 wood haha
But another round with the stg 3 wood and in continued to be impressed. It was a crazy windy day. Got to a point where driver was crazy difficult to hit into the wind so I used the 3 wood. It was great. Cut through the wind and easily outpaced everyone else haha. Might need to cut the butt off a little…. It feels so long when I get into my stance.
