Have you ever been a part of #PushCartMafia? I have been a card-carrying member for years as I generally find that walking the golf course leads to a more enjoyable experience. This season it all changed, and not because I started riding for most of my rounds. No, 2021 was when my walking rounds became even more luxurious as I was lucky enough to spend the summer with the MotoCaddy M7, a remote-controlled electric caddy.
That’s right, a remote-controlled electric caddy. Now, electric carts aren’t anything particularly new in the golf space, but in my own experiences, they have been somewhat of a rare find in the wild. Honestly, every time I happened to spot someone using one, I immediately recognized the coolness factor it possessed. It was just one of those products that I genuinely did not think would end up as part of my golf setup. Well, after a few months of putting one in play, the big question is whether it lived up to the expectations I had built up in my head. But before going down that road, let’s take a few minutes to look at what the M7 has to offer.
MotoCaddy has three different models for electric caddies, the M1, M5, and M7. THP reviewed the M5 model earlier this year, which loses out on the remote control but gains a built-in GPS. Those interested in reading up on the M5 can do so here. What the M7 does have to offer, as mentioned above, is a remote control, meaning golfers can have total control over the movement of the cart from a greater distance away. It comes with nine different speed settings, automatic downhill control, and a Lithium Battery with an IP66 rating, meaning you don’t need to panic if you happen to get caught playing in a rainstorm. While it does not have an onboard GPS, an anti-glare screen displays the active speed setting and battery levels for both the cart and remote.
Out on the course, there was a little bit of a learning curve to using the remote control, but for me, that adjustment didn’t take long. Upon reaching a certain comfort level with the M7, I would routinely have the cart anywhere from 15-30 yards ahead of me, allowing it to get to my ball before I would. Some course layouts would even allow me to drive the cart over to the next tee box while I was on the green waiting for my group to finish. If there were an area I was worried about with the M7, it would be with the stability. Thankfully, the anti-tip rear wheel works as advertised, as it activates when going up hills to offer more support and keeps the M7 upright. One thing is for sure, using this electric caddie provided an improved walk around the course. While pushing a cart around might not be overly strenuous, having the cart motor around the course while I could walk freely at my own pace led to some more refreshing rounds.
As you see, my experience with the MotoCaddy M7 has been a positive one. But, you don’t need to take my word for how enjoyable this unit is, as multiple THP forum members also put the M7 to the test over the summer. Feel free to read all of the updates and add to the ongoing conversations surrounding this remote-controlled electric caddy here. There you will find all sorts of discussions on general use, battery life, portability, the difference between using a remote and manual mode, and which bags work best. I’ll give you a hint on that one, and it’s a MotoCaddy bag, thanks to the EASILOCK system.
Those interested in upgrading to a MotoCaddy Electric Caddy should head over to BudgetGolf.com, where you can purchase all three of the options MotoCaddy offers. Before doing so, make sure you check out the right hand side of this page for a coupon code that will save you 15%. Since the M7 comes with a price tag of $1,499, that coupon code will help rack up the savings.
and here I was assuming wd40 was already a lubricant lol
What do you use for the axle upkeep?
wd40 got me straightened out! There’s still a slight catch when I take the wheel off but I’m guessing that will take care of itself shortly!
58 holes is unreal for a charge!
I don’t recommend being caught without battery though. While I did it to myself on purpose tonight, the M7 is still a pretty hefty push. Definitely not something you want to be doing on any kind of hilly course. It was easy enough on flat surfaces but man is it not fun to push up hills lol
Playing tomorrow if the weather holds but won’t be able to take the M7 due to course rules. That makes me sad.
I thought about this and had to look at mine. Definitely different

That’s mine as well
I thought the same. I’m pretty sure mine stays on when fully charged up.
Just got done charging my remote and it does indeed stay solid green
Did I miss that you got one??! Or is the name change just confusing me
I’m going to check my cable.
The remote charges? somehow I missed that when reading up on it ?
Lol I know this is a joke but I also tried to test the longevity of one charge on it. I lost track of how many rounds I made it and I was still at half battery so I charged it. That thing doesn’t need to be worried about for quite awhile.
That is good to know. I need to dig through the box and find the charger.
Are you holding down the power button when that happens? That sounds like it’s in pairing mode. If not, shoot us an email at sales@motocaddy.us and we’ll get you taken care of.
Fun round. I took my son’s car and it fit nicely in the trunk ?
I ended up taking the remote apart and cleaning up the backside of the buttons. Problem fixed! Must have had a sticky key.
Ordered mine in June and I was just notified that my M7 has shipped. BTW…The Motocaddy US website says in one part that the M7s are in stock and says in another area that they are:
OUT OF STOCK. AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER
ESTIMATED DISPATCH AUGUST 1st 2022
Website needs to be updated now that M7s are in stock.
Thanks, we didn’t update as we received product late Friday, and the 1st is Monday
Yes.
Yes. Every time in that situation
I did and the back nine was glorious. Especially not having to push up this hill

Love that you did!
I thought I would be fine based on reading the manual, but seeing yellow on the radar and lack of umbrella had me cautious. Need to make sure the umbrella lives in the car from here on out
Hopefully mine is part of that batch! I know the wife ordered one earlier this year.
Great will order one
Mine died tonight after 25 holes. I had to push the last 2 in league.
I had gotten 27 with room left over before so I don’t know why tonight was different, Maybe because its been sitting for 7 days?
I have the same screen I am guessing from the 2021 model?
Sad to hear that, but have to ask. How was it pushing for the last few? It doesn’t seem awful but curious to your experience.
Not that bad. I wouldn’t want to do it for 9 holes but it was doable.
The bold could for sure be a reason. I did my 58 holes back to back to back with a day in between the last four before it died
I’ve had mine sitting in the car for over a week, and it had no effect on the battery meter.
Well then I don’t know ? 25 holes seems unreasonably quick for how well the battery has done for others
Fantastic way to walk, really enjoy just sending the cart ahead or walking next to it w/ the speakers playing. Can pack extra drinks, etc.. without worrying about the weight. Great not having to walk back to get the cart when I’m done looking for my balls…or on the other side of the green. Surprise how stout this thing really is, even on some side hills it was able to traverse nicely. I did have a spill once, got too close to the green side bunker and took my eyes off for a second.
Really appreciate the lock button design and location on the remote. Away from all the other buttons and hard to accidentally hit it.
Overall, love the M7, recommended it every time anyone asked. Just about everyone was intrigued and amazed by it.
A couple of cons from my usage:
– Maybe just my unit? The remote’s right turn is annoyingly glitchy. Tapping the Right button to get a small, smooth turn is a crap shoot. Half the time it would just stop the M7 dead on it’s track, like tire skidding a little kind of abrupt stop from a 5-6 speed. The Stop button doesn’t have that hard of a stop. No issues at all using the same taps on the Left button.
– For manual operation, the radial speed control feels a little too sensitive. Sometimes rotating it slowly doesn’t register any changes and normal operation over shoot my target speed (hitting 7-8 instead of 5). Is it a momentum speed control?
Speaking of speed control, wish there is a 5.5 speed.. 5 is touch too slow and 6 is a touch too fast for my walking pace. But I also rather not have 20 speeds on the control so it is what it is.
I’ve had that happen once or twice to me in the past week. No idea which turn button I was pressing but I just figured I accidentally tapped the stop button. But now that you say that, I feel better in saying that happened by hitting the turn buttons. Interesting!
Is the remote charged.
yes sir
I had this happen with my MGI a few times and once with my Motocaddy. I assumed I was accidentally tapping the stop button or fat fingering it.
I spoke to MGI about it a while back and they said they believed it was that simple, but no idea honestly.
Yeah it’s nothing that is worrisome. Just a quick press of of the forward button gets me on my way again.
It scared me the first time as I almost rib caged it with the other cart. Now I keep it pretty far in front of me, so no worries.
As for the potential fat finger, I thought I was doing that… but after a while, it made sure to hit the Right button on the far right side as possible so the Stop button doesn’t come into play. My only other suspicion is that the internal contact might be touching the stop button on the board but that doesn’t explain the abrupt hard stop though. When using the Stop button, the M7 does stop immediately but it’s more like a ‘soft close’ stop.
I would try taking the remote apart and cleaning the button pad. That seemed to do the trick for me with the issue I was having charging the remote.
If it keeps happening, shoot us a note at sales@motocaddy.us and we’ll flip out the remote.
Happy birthday to me!!
Wonderful!!
extra drinks? you must be using a competitor insulated cooler because motocaddy doesn’t have one. I also had to use somebody else’s sand bottle but it worked. I did order the seat with the storage which solves one problem. An insulated cooler designed to fit would be nice. Other than those 1st world problems, I have no complaints.
