Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this is episode 281. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, Jose Miraflor from Cobra joins the show to OPTM and breaking down POI and where it matters for golfers.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Jose dive into many topics including how OPTM is the next real step for Cobra and tour reactions, head choices and who stands to gain the most. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as Jose Miraflor goes Off Course.

Episode 281 is here and Dan and Jose discuss the following topics and a whole lot more.
OPTM is the Next Real Step for Cobra
Breaking Down POI and Where it Matters for Golfers
Managing POI Across Four Different Driver Heads
Tour Reactions and Who Gains the Most
Driver Profile, Shaping and Weighting
And so much more
You can listen to the show right here, Apple Podcasts or anywhere you do your listening and downloading from, including Spotify and more. This was such a fun listen for me as all of the tech talk was really cool to listen to. @Canadan to make sure Im tracking correctly, there are different MOI’s and POI is essentially the combination or result of all of them?
I’m going to butcher it, so rather than that – head over to @Jman breaking down the lineup with some Jose quotes in there. MOI/POI is at the top.

Thanks for asking about all the limited run drivers they do. Cobra always knocks these out of the park

I will ALWAYS ask the selfish questions lmao
This won’t be the correct saying, but I’m struggling to find something better (for me) so hear me out:
What Cobra has been innovating over the past several years feels like the positive version of “death by a million cuts”. Aero/speed? Check. Forgiveness? Check. Accuracy?? Check! I so freaking love the foundation that has been built and the way, as Dan mentions, Cobra is just checking off these boxes with each release and building off that successful foundation that has been put together over time. Real results.

Yeah, the part near the end where you’re like “As I don’t want to make this all about me…” then you proceed to ask a question that applies directly to you. There has to be some kind of benefit of being the host, right?

I hear what you mean and I get it.
We don’t always say it exactly right and the internet is often quick to come in and chop at you for misspeaking slightly but I hear you. It’s step by step improvements and advancements that make this company so interesting. I have been following them and their releases for 5 years now and it’s great to see where they continue to go and also when a misstep is made they do not shy away from it, they just learned a way that it doesn’t work and then build on the old base again.
The OPTM X is definitely in my future. Hearing this today reminds me how freaking excited I was back in September at VN.
I love how excited Jose gets talking about new releases. Only made it halfway through so far, but Cobra really seems to be going places with their woods.
Always enjoy listening to Jose talk gear- he’s got an excitement for it that comes through when he talks, and makes it very easy to understand. Enjoyed this one and look forward to getting the OPTM in the bay to see how they perform.
GREAT episode and definitely worth a second watch.

OPTM has been getting a TON of buzz on socials – I can’t wait to see it take off.
Also, I do really appreciate that they measure improvement against their own equipment and measure it against the most recent release, not something from 4-5 cycles prior
Great episode. Always fun with Jose. Can’t wait to try the new OPTMs and have them duel it out with Quantum. Played Max-K last year but feel like X may be my play this year.
New to Forum, never interated in a format like this, it’s like being in the club house?
Such a good listen this morning!
So much info coming out of Jose!

First off, welcome to THP – just saw your intro in the Check-In Desk!
Off Course is a podcast format where @Canadan and other staff members interview golf industry leaders – its a great peak into the OEMs and how they are thinking about product.

Thats super cool, but these products are out of price range for me.
So much inventory out there, and yet these equipment holds it value for sooo long.
Its funny though I just litteraly emailed VOID Golf asking to be a tester, honestly told them I am not in a place to afford their product but would love to loan for review as an ambasador… So we will see.
Always a treat to listen to Jose (and Dan) !
I really want to see this vs the 440 though?
Thoughts on the PING?
Great listen @Canadan !! The tease near the end on the limited editions has my interest piqued, Cobra does a great job coming up with real nice looking limteds. And as someone who was on the borderline between X and Max-K last year hearing the average strokes gained was higher with the X sounds like a winner.
Always awesome to hear Jose talk through how Cobra thinks through their innovations
@Canadan great question around POI during the swing – got Jose talking about the future!
Then we devolved into talking about “money shots” and “JOI”…🤣
Fun listen so far.. I have yet to hit the OPTM wood line. But I will and I am hearing really good things locally about this.
X with the best Shots Gained of all 4 heads is interesting!

I feel like I need to give his head another sim session or two – I loved the shape but could not for the life of me get a good shot on it earlier this week.

lmao I regret nothing.
I love the Off Course episodes with @LittleRat These can easily go on for hours.
having him explain the 23% more story was really cool and beneficial to clear up any misconceptions
i just fired this up for lunch watch. This should be good!
Catching up on this currently. Jose is hyped about these guys
Interesting talk about the focus on dispersion reduction from DS Adapt.
And I love the 25 shot test without deleting any shots. That’s what I’m talking about.
“X is the best driver…..”
K is not far behind….
Oh I do like that face transition “frost” area.
And the coloring makes sense for ball flight per typical shaft designations. That’s smart.
10% more fairways hit?
Really enjoyed listening to this one earlier today. Jose is always a great guest! He got me wanting to try the optm lineup even more.
Jose might have sold me on an X with this one

See!!! I’ve been gaming my 9 wood for 4 years. I’m a tastemaker.
Smiling along with the @LittleRat as I give this a listen with my pre golf coffee.
Enjoy Optm responsibly. Fricken classic.
I have loved some of the commercials for this new driver and listening to Jose discuss the driver is really cool. Great episode

Cobra really understands that golf is fun!

The support group one with speed rob is amazing. But they are killing it on socials.
Reading @Jman article with him mentioning the F9 is one thing, but hearing Jose mention also is exciting.
The satin line on top of the OPTM that contrasts with the glossy crown looks great on this one.

Yeah, that was a great question and answer.
It’s awesome hearing from the people behind the product about what they are looking to improve upon and how they address an issue.
