Personally, I just don’t understand what’s going to get Joe Average golfer to buy it, and once they do what prevents them from splooshing them in the water or blowing them in the hazard immediately?

Word choice proof this guy ^ listened. ?

Listened while I was at the gym tonight. I get and agree strongly with the need for golfers to be focused and deliberate while playing. I agree that if they are focused and deliberate on the golf course then good or at least better things tend to happen in their game.
What I don’t agree with or maybe I missed it and still don’t understand is why this specific graphic will help them do it. I think for much of the golfing population (myself included) we understand and see the utility behind something like Triple Track, Pix, or just a line on the ball. Those things serve a direct purpose.
Mindset is a much more abstract idea. Maybe that’s the point? Maybe something like emotional control, mental fortitude, and focus are too abstract of concepts? Maybe because they are different for everyone this graphic needs to be ‘different’ and is just there to serve as a reminder to someone who is already working on those kinds of on-course skills.

I’m curious what the complete advertising campaign looks like. I see the benefit in the theory. I also know first hand that when I have a plan and talk myself thru shot shape and target that the outcome more times than not ends positive. My real question is why do I need this ball vs putting 2 red dots and a green dot on my normal ball.

I think Bridgestone probably has a really fantastic opportunity to bring people into the mindset thing. If they play it right.
Maybe they have a whole program around it. Develop an app to help coach you thru it. Start selling Mindset gloves, tees, ballmarkers etc…
That’s the only way I remotely see this becoming a thing. If it’s just a print on a ball and then the consumer is left on their own to figure out the rest then It’s a failure and massive wasted opportunity.

I would agree completely. There has to be more to teaching mindset. Looking forward to seeing what’s to come.

I would absolutely LOVE to hear what THPers think about this.

I got a chance to listen to this today and the theory on thoughts processed at rest vs at work were startling
I made a post in another thread about using the lines on golf balls while putting. The gist was there’s so many thoughts going on at once that’s trying to simplify it was my best option. What if it’s not? Am I making the best shot I can or am I just settling for “hitting it straight” Really liked listening to this.

I think the explanation on the pod and the graphics shown earlier in the thread paint a decent picture. A lot of it seems like an application of intentional focus on things that prepare for a shot rather than just blasting away.
I don’t necessarily know that this is for everyone just as I don’t think alignment aids on balls are for everyone – but I know of a few guys who would greatly benefit from some elevated focus on the golf ball haha

If you’re really into the thing, Making a glove with the “mindset” reminder would make more sense, or a putter grip knob or something. I dunno.

I have LTFU written on my glove because I choke the club and then it become mental.
Loved this episode. Lots of good stuff for the mental. I think golfers of all level could benefit from it.

If you knew me I might take that as a personal attack on my focus. ???

I saw the graphics that @Browndog shared and maybe I missed it on the pod.
But what I don’t understand is why the Red circle for “Identify”, why yellow circle to visualize, and the green dot.
Is there significance behind those specific symbols am I supposed to know why they are what they are? Or am I supposed to just use them as visual cues to do those things?
I’ve got questions and it’s why I think Bridgestone has an opportunity to bring people in to this concept if they flesh it out with a coaching app or website, something.
I’m going to feel silly if this was addressed in the episode and I just zoned out or something. And if so maybe that’s a reason I need mindset is to focus ?

After listening to the pod I have questions. These markings are only in one spot on the ball correct? What if you can’t see the markings on the ball when you are in the fairway or rough? How are the markings supposed to help you visualize then? Or is this only a tee or green practice

I took it as a ‘where possible’ type of thing. Obviously you can’t use this everywhere.
It made me wonder why they didn’t put them all over the ball to your point, but I didn’t ask because I felt the Mindset story was full enough already haha

I mean… you’re crazy, but not about this particular thing.
So I was at the store buying some stuff and came across the two sleeve sample pack. I got one because the mental focus is a huge issue for me. Today, I used one for the first 2 holes and got off to a good start before losing it on the 3rd (stupid dog just off the tee).
The reminder to think everything through in steps was absolutely a help through the round today. To be fair, from the lost ball on, I didn’t play this ball but mad a very dedicated effort to go through the steps. This was a big help in staying in the moment on each shot. I’m going to give these more of a shot although I’m not sure I had the right model for me, hence the switch today.
Another stellar episode @Canadan
I’ll be frank, when the this first dropped it didn’t grab me and even during the opening bit of the podcast when the concept was explained it was almost exhausting to listen to if I’m honest. But as the episode kept going, the concept more and more started to resonate. I know when I am playing free and easy I play my best golf. If this can serve as a reminder to try and maintain that state of mind I could see it paying dividends.
Good episode. I don’t know that I need the mindset print to get into the mindset, but I might try it someday.
Listened on the way home, and hearing what Bridgestone was saying about how to use the rings as A reminder to first gather your data, then visualize the shot you want to hit, then go in focused on the target was interesting. When I first saw this I had kinda wrote it off as too specific to Jason Day, but hearing the episode made me think that it could possibly help. I do gather up my data the stand behind the ball and try to pick out a target but have never tried visualizing the shot (either in the shot tracker line way, or the fuller seeing myself step up and hit the shot way Jason Day uses) and who knows maybe that could help. I know when I pick a more specific target to aim for that generally helps, and I’m not good at always doing that either.
Little late to the party here but gave the podcast a listen earlier this week. I thought the conversation with JD’s mental coach (name is escaping me right now) was super interesting. I love the idea of focusing on the steps to identify, visualize and focus on the target vs. mechanics. I feel like that’s a strong foundation for a good pre-shot routine. What I’m still not sold on is that cue being on the ball for me. I still feel like if I needed a reminder, something on my glove or a wristband would be more impactful for me. Will be super interesting to see how this works for the testers.
The conversation was excellent though and reinforced some things that I do try to do, but sometimes let my surroundings distract me from. I’m a tracer line visualizer before shots, including putts, and it’s something I try to do before I address the ball. I do think that mechanics thoughts are a performance killer for me standing over the ball and I could benefit from becoming a little more target focused. Definitely going to try and take this into the season with me.
