Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this is episode 282. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, Zack Oakley from Callaway joins the show to discuss the massive changes that Quantum brings and Callaway’s commitment to their AI platform.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Zack dive into many topics including how this is Callaway’s biggest step change in years and how the Tri Force Face brings a new era of speed and forgiveness to the platform. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as Zack Oakley from Callaway Golf goes Off Course.

Callaway’s Biggest Driver Step in Years
The Tri Force Face

Finally got a chance to give this a view. Great chat with a lot of good information. The point of discussion regarding the use of Ai and spin consistency is fascinating to me, as it was the major takeaway I had after my initial sessions with the Max, TD, and TD Max. Nice job, @Canadan
Zack is incredible at deep diving into their products. Impressive.
Finally got some time and my notebook out. Yes I’m taking physical notes this time because I’m I wanted to try something different.
What stands out? The Tri-Force face and how they’re molding all of that together with the face. That entire process is interesting to me, but also makes me wonder what durability will be like.
Sound – I’m testing the Max so it shouldn’t affect me too much, but when I got to the Golf Galaxy Free Fitting event, I want to try TD or TD Max and see how that’s different.
Consistency – I know Zach is specifically talking about tour Pro’s for the most part, but if that translates to an amateur like me my mind will be blown. I have a feeling this correlates to the comments I keep seeing from the Grandaddy crew about knowing you mishit a ball and still seeing it in the fairway.

The Callaway folks are very high on the polymesh – military grade material used to protect bunkers. And they tested the face extensively. I don’t think they are concerned about durability, but I understand your point based on having carbon in the face of some other drivers.

Absolutely. I don’t expect issues from Callaway, but up to this point most of my experience from Carbon Fiber near the face relates to another company and they’ve had some issues.
I anticipate they’ve tested it extensively, but it’ll still be interesting to experience firsthand.
Listened this morning on my train ride into London.
Really good conversation – loved this one even though I have already bought in to the Quantum driver.
