Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this is episode 213. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, Paul and Brian from Callaway Golf join the show and we take a deep dive into everything Callaway Opus wedges.
We should warn that there were some connection issues during this recording, but the conversation centered around Callaway Opus wedges is fantastic.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan, Paul and Brian dive into many topics including tour feedback during creation and where did the name Opus come from. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as Paul and Brian go Off Course.

Episode 213 is here and Dan, Paul and Brian discuss the following topics.
Deep Dive Into All Things Opus and Opus Platinum Wedges
Where did Opus Come From?
Tour Feedback and What is S6?
Spin Consistency Possible with Wedges?
And so much more
You can listen to the show right here, Apple Podcasts or anywhere you do your listening and downloading from. Search for the Hackers Paradise and make sure to subscribe so you never miss an episode. After listening, come back over and drop us a note below on what you agree and/or disagree with from the episode. If you get a chance, drop us a review wherever you listen from and let others know what you think of the show and/or channel.
Off course is now available in video as well. Tune into the THPGolf YouTube Channel and jump into the video and watch the interaction rather than just listen between Dan and his guests each week.

Really enjoyed the podcast! I love the deep dive stuff. Funny how sneaky Callaway is with getting this stuff in the pro’s hands. ?
here is that reaction video we talked about where Akshay says “Who needs a serial number” and Yuka (USWO Champ) mentions “A lot of players will love this”.. comments made in blunt honesty which was super fun to hear.

Wanted to drop some more content around what we chatted on with S6! Here you can see the progression of machined proto to “jaws raw” S6 to final cosmetic. This is sort of the journey we used to transition players slowly.

I want stupid rippy too! So well done!
Can’t wait to queue this up later, these are some great looking wedges and I love the innovation.
That was a great interview. These deep dives with all the different mfg reps/personnel are so interesting. It’s actually quite amazing they are so forthcoming with their product development processes on such an open format.

I love how they bounced off of each other with some jokes about the process and the experience as each other work through their portion.
Super fun.

They both had some sh**-eating-grins which tells the whole story. It’s nice to see people passionate about what they do. The podcast was like a chef inviting you into the kitchen of a 5 star restaurant.
OK, this is driving me crazy. Is the Red where they ground off Relief? Cuz the W Wedge has it across entire bottom and yet T and C has it at back where I like my Relief since I spend most of the time with my 60 with diff amounts of Open Face. What am I missing here? Someone please help this Old Codger
Is there anyone with Opus and SM10’s who could speak to how they compare? Sound, feel, performance? Anyone hit both with observations?
Hint hint: @Jman

Another great pod. Man, those would be sweet.
Finally getting a chance to watch this episode ?
thanks again for tuning in, THP fam!
I hope it was as much fun to listen to as it was to record. Having Brian and Paul going toe to toe on some things was hilariously fun.
I think I’ve listened to this one 3 times now :D. We’re just getting a glimpse, but you can tell so much went into developing the Opus line. Can’t wait to try these out.
So happy the blue made it into production.

If I had to choose today at least one of the wedges would be blue.

It was a great listen, Brian and Paul dropped some really cool and interesting stuff. Thanks for having them on!
Their Buddy, Buddy banter was Hilarious.
Watched Wunders YouTube on opening box for 1st time and looking at new Opus. Talking about Raw being an option soon. Not a Raw fan but I’m sure many are happy he said that.
Dang it! I missed this drop?! Listening this morning!

Watched it on YouTube. Definitely takes it to another level. Very excited about these wedges to say the least. The blue for sure has my attention. It seems they’ve really thought of everything.
PVC pipes with grass from the robot to hit off of is fantastic.

I’m just excited that they went to that level for checking the spin in various conditions.
I’m so glad they went with blue! It looks so good! Give me all the blue clubs!
Besides that, the shape of Opus wedges are very appealing to my eye. Definitely want to give them a try!

It’d be amazing.

Yes! And I’ve thought about that a lot. It would look so good in the bag, and be a great set of clubs to play!
Callaway/Odyssey pulling at my heartstrings in all the right ways.
Gotta a chance to listen to the full thing. Very interesting how it all started through tour feedback and various shapes brought before them. Should be really interesting to see how translates across all players.
Well, I was really considering just grabbing a new (discounted) Jaws Raw 60*, but after all the info dropping on these, I may just have to reconsider. Loving that blue!
Did you guys hear that the “S6” shape will be around for awhile along with the Opus name. A new era of wedges coming from Callaway.

Yep – they definitely seem to be confident in this release and how it will become a household name.

Brian seemed like he was pretty passionate about it. I can’t wait to get these in hand honestly.
Just got done listening to this one. Was cool to hear how long they were in development and all the tour stories
