Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this is episode 183. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, Josh Babbitt, Publisher of THP joins the show, to discuss pace of play and getting better at golf.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Josh talk interviewing coaches and what goes into finding an instructor. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as Josh Babbitt goes Off Course.

Episode 183 is here and Dan and Josh discuss the following topics.
Pace of Play in Golf
The LPGA and Golf Coverage
Interviewing an Instructor
Getting Better at Golf
And so much more

Just remember, you’re better than Golf Pride.
Just hold on for a couple more weeks lol
On pace of play, over here most courses are 90% walkers and the awful pace of play is not about the time it takes to walk, but from people not being ******* ready to hit on their turn. It’s amazing and horrible to get stuck behind.
Plus not many people know how and when to let someone play through.
I had my first swing evaluation with GolfTec about 18 months ago and really liked how much data and how many points of interest came from it. It felt very complete, in terms of things to work on instructionally, and why, and the data to support it. It was pretty eye-opening (partly due to that I hadn’t seen my swing on video before, but also in how many things were pointed out by the instructor).
Was also impressed that GolfTec sent me a free 30-min lesson to come back in (of course it was in the hopes that it’d lead to a package, but still). And the instructor I worked with had taken a job with Callaway, so it was with someone new. I was impressed that he took the time to review the notes and video from my previous lessons and my swing eval, so he came into it with a running start. I figured this would just be a rehash of what I’d gone over with the other instructor, but we went into quick detail on two driver swing thoughts for me (logo of the glove toward the target at impact, and pulling my front hip back) in addition to swing plane stuff.
Might add a 5-pack of lessons in the spring so I can play while I’m going through them.
Hearing @JB talk about the Golftec swing evaluation was great. I have been to Golftec way in the past and it was good then, the improvements they seem to have made make it really look great and it will be something i’m looking into for improvement in the new year when my schedule frees up some time (which is coming).
