Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this is episode 214. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, Chris Koske from SkyTrak and GolfTEC joins the show and we take a deep dive the GolfTec and SkyTrak collaboration.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Chris dive into many topics including after two years how the GolfTec and SkyTrak collaboration is doing. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as Chris Koske goes Off Course.

Episode 214 is here and Dan and Chris discuss the following topics.
GolfTec and SkyTrak Collaboration
The State of the Company
Misconceptions About GolfTec
Golf as a Digital Experience
Custom Ranges and Course Play
And so much more

Had to look at my calendar to make sure it wasn’t Friday- but I will take it a day early! Looking forward to watching this morning

I did the same thing!
Love a surprise Thursday drop. Love @Koske also. This will be a good one.
The early drop… I like it
Always find these interesting. Will tune in later today. Enjoy learning things about GolfTec and SkyTrak.
Was it hard for you to not make fun of me during this podcast Dan?
Downloaded and ready to learn a thing or three.
Great conversation here. I’m all-in on indoor golf. Truthfully, I’d probably not be able to play without it.
I’ll watch this one tonight when I get home. Hopefully there might be some hints about screens from them, cause I’m waiting patiently to see what they have.
I’m more excited to join the Garage Sim crew!
@Canadan wild idea hitting a driving range with a halo/call of duty theme.. Imagine hitting into some zombies as they walk by.
Very Cool, will definitely be listening to this on the ride home today!
Coming from an analytical side of business where visuals are used to tell the story, this talk on stop light indicators and bringing this to the table is very interesting. I love data, so seeing right away if I’m optimized or not seems really cool.
@Scooby45 did you feel personally attacked with the “disgusting Cincinnati chili” comment?

Not at all. I think you’re leading a revolution.
I think your take on outdoor golf is batshit crazy, but it doesn’t come close to meriting mockery hahaha
I am crazy. There’s no denying that.
The acceptance of indoor golf has really evolved over time. I used to get roasted for practicing and reviewing indoors with a monitor/sim 10-12 years ago, and that was basically winter only.
This will be some good listening material for the morning
YES! I cannot wait to turn this one on!
KOSKE!!
What a great discussion. Love what Skytrack is doing by bringing a great product to the consumers at a very reasonable price. And I learned so much about GolfTec. Very true that sometimes I’ve viewed them one way, because they are in a local brick and mortar, next to a smoothie place and bike store. But after learning about the process, what their coaching learn, it’s changed how I feel.
Great episode @Canadan ! And thanks @Koske for the enlightenment!

Not at all, just sadness that some folks walk around this earth with such a limited palate to enjoy all the amazing foods one can find over this journey called life
Take a shot every time @Canadan says “finite” ???
In all seriousness this was a great listen! Very cool that instructors can create their own ranges on the Skytrak. Lots of good info on GolfTEC as well. I can speak from experience they will not try and fit you into one swing. Excited to see what’s coming!

It was close lol but it was a great episode
Such a good listen. I love where they are going with everything. Definitely curious to see where the there are in a couple years when building out my sim. And Still waiting for GolfTec – Waco. 😀
Want to preface my post by saying I’m really not into Podcasts. But I absolutely loved this recent podcast with Chris Koske.
I’ve already decided that owning a Skytrac is in my future. Instruction through Golftec… not so much. I may have to rethink the latter point after listening.
I know there’s always a lot of marketing involved with an interview, but I liked what I heard regarding instruction. Not sure if Golftec already has anything developed for online instruction. If not, for those of us who are geographically-challenged, having live video/audio and the realtime LM numbers available during an online lesson might be something worth looking into.
The 2nd point that hit home was early in the show when playing indoors vs playing on the course was discussed. Similar to what the guest was saying, I much prefer being outdoors, in the sun, walking the terrain of a golf course. I hope that continues to be part of my life for a long time as I continue to age
That said, where indoor golf was initially just something I did to get through the winter, I now realize it allows me to play golf at a different level – year ’round. I’m completely aware it’s a different and easier experience. But even though it’s not the real thing, I’m hitting shots and playing the game of a better golfer that I’ll ever be able to experience on the course… and it’s fun.
I look at indoor golf a lot like I look at going to something like a Top Golf.
Game improvement is certainly an option, but not really the draw. The idea of having variety while getting reps in sounds so satisfying.

Someone has to solve the indoor putting issue.

I don’t mind the exclusion of putting in simulator play, personally.
It’s a lot of fun to argue with the logic when I get two putted from 4 feet haha

Really enjoyed Chris diving into where everything is at the two year mark.
I’m about 10 minutes in now. I love how koske hit on having to move things out of the way inside the garage…like a bike and boxes…so that he and his kid can play. That one hits home becuase my little dude loves to hit balls in the garage, and that’s always a conversation haha

That’s so awesome for them.
This was a great watch and really enjoyed hearing from them!

Same, and I’ve been a GolfTec student before when I lived closer to one. Did a putter fitting at one a couple of months ago. I also thought it was just short for technology.

I think something I have struggled with this year, while mainly being in the sim and rarely outdoors and on a course, that at times I feel like less of a golfer. Like on a daily basis, despite practicing and working on my swing more than I ever have before, that what I am doing doesn’t “count”.
Part of it is coming from trying to hit the ball harder/faster/further most of the time, that the effort is wasted and that it isn’t going to translate to better golf overall. We’ll eventually see when we can get back onto a course again.
I have to remember though, the alternative to all of this is just not swinging a club at all, and in the offseason going 6+ months without any golf related movement at all. I have to take what I can get I suppose. I can still hit balls, I can still take lessons (which is actually an upside to Sim Life…. indoor lessons all winter). I probably hit balls more, with weather not being a factor (except for golf outdoors).
So you dudes are suggesting I should definitely NOT stop with that intro?
I’ve had the last 2-3 guests kind of smirk as I go through it haha
@Canadan that was a great episode. Lots of good stuff. I’ve really enjoyed my Skytrak device and think GolfTec has things headed in the right direction. It was awesome to hear from @Koske again. I love that the company is all about making golfers better and I’m excited to see what the THP gang learns on the GolfTec experience.
I’m in desperate need of a Golf Tec in my area. Closest one is a 3 hour drive. Hoping there’s a good option soon. ?
