Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this is episode 233. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, Staff Writer Dean, joins the show to discuss the new putter trend in the world of golf.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and Dean dive into many topics including the new putter trend and mallet acceptance in 2024. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as Dean goes Off Course.

Episode 233 is here and Dan and Dean discuss the following topics.
The New Putter Trend
Mallet Acceptance in 2024
New Cobra Drivers Incoming
Celebrating a Great Year of Iron and Driver Design
And so much more

I have to say that I find it extremely relevant that despite the title of the podcast focusing on the lie balanced putters, some discussion of the “LIMIT3D” irons popped up. ?

I didn’t want to go there. They are still the dream set. My current mood is to forget they and that thread exists haha
Enjoyed this one a lot!
To answer the question that @Canadan and @ddec posed to the forum. I think the easiest piece of actual golf equipment to adjust to a different shape is the putter for me. Although, I only look at it to align it to my target, then I putt heads up.

I have a harder time adjusting to irons that have tons of offset. They just don’t look right to me when set up behind the ball. I had little problem adjusting to a DF3 putter, so putter shape is not a problem for my eye.

This is me too. I’ve tried several different irons with varying levels of offset and I don’t get along with anything I’m not used too.

@ddec thanks for the brief explanation on cobra golf drivers.
So @Canadan skirted around ever trying a mallet or having one in the bag today. Dan what says you? You in on a mallet with an extra long CH?

I honestly think that if a putter suits you, it is very easy to make it fit in the bag, and that it could be the easiest club to adjust to.
If it doesn’t suit you? I don’t think there is anything that you can do to make it work.
I agree with this. There are a wide range of changes that can be made to a putter that wouldn’t affect me. Provided they stayed in a lane.
Picking up a putter that promotes face closure…,no matter how identical it looks I would never be comfortable playing.

he had a Scotty Mallet-ish putter once. I rolled it and I think he got rid of it later that day.

It did not go terribly well.

He lives and dies by the blade, but wasn’t for sure if he’s willing to admit they exist and roll one. @Canadan did say there are a lot of benefits to the mallet now.. :ROFLMAO:
Were you trying to give the mallet a hair cut by the end of the round? Are mallets like mullets for you? Business in the front, party in the back but your all business? :ROFLMAO:

I hope he goes to the extreme and plays the largest mallet ever created.
