Off Course is back this week with a fantastic show and this is episode 241. Hosted by Dan Edwards, each Friday he gives you a deep look into the world of golf and equipment in a way unlike any other podcast has done before. Today, James Miles, Director of Education at THP, joins the show to discuss the rise of indoor golf and launch monitors.
It wouldn’t be Off Course without some tangents, but Dan and James dive into many topics including how TGL can connect the dots between the PGA Tour and fun. This show has a lot going on and is one you will not want to miss as James Miles goes Off Course.

Episode 241 is here and Dan and James discuss the following topics.
Trends at the 2025 PGA Show
Normalizing Launch Monitors in Every Day Golf
The Rise of Indoor Golf
Cobra’s Go Chase More Commercial
TGL Connecting the Dots Between Tour and Fun
And so much more
You can listen to the show right here, Apple Podcasts or anywhere you do your listening and downloading from. Search for the Hackers Paradise and make sure to subscribe so you never miss an episode. After listening, come back over and drop us a note below on what you agree and/or disagree with from the episode. If you get a chance, drop us a review wherever you listen from and let others know what you think of the show and/or channel.
Off course is now available in video as well. Tune into the THPGolf YouTube Channel and jump into the video and watch the interaction rather than just listen between Dan and his guests each week.

@Canadan + anyone is a good time, @Canadan + @Jman is a great time!
Let’s give it a listen.
Golf should be enjoyable and connect people. — This is why you’re top 5 golf personalities my guy.
I think stat tracking is so easy, and important, if you want to improve. It is one thing in golf that doesn’t add a lot of time during the round to slow you down, but after the round if you want you can really dig into it or you can just glance and know your numbers a bit better.
I enjoy tuning in when it’s @Canadan and @Jman. Some great tangents are had for sure.
Great point @Jman . Just because someone is a superstar doesn’t mean they have a personality that is attractive to an audience.
This conversation is starting to sort of happen on the @JB thread about TGL ratings.
Hello boys.
I can’t wait to listen to this one! May have to pop in the earbuds at work this morning.
This’ll be a great one to listen to while I’m working later this morning – can’t wait!
This was a fun listen, thanks @Canadan and @Jman

I still remember when I said golf should be based on 6 hole rounds and people lost their fucking minds.

At the last course I belonged to I played a bunch of 12 hole rounds. I think that’s truly the perfect amount of golf. Hit the front nine and then played the first three holes over again afterwards.
The alignment issue is a thing. I struggle in my first rounds when I move outdoors.
Also, quit making fun of me for missing 30 yards right.

Everything I outlined in that thread (which I just bumped) would solve so much of the problems with golf.

I was thinking of you and that thread when it was said. Golf isn’t more or less fun when it’s longer or shorter but it just is what it is.
Pay for 6, play 6 move on.

Yes, yes I did. In 2005.
And I picked the cup specifically to see who would notice.

Post of the year.
Just listened to most of the show in the car (got 5 mins left). You guys had a heck of a conversation.
@Jman and I pretty much see eye to eye on everything in life. Probably why we always hit it off when we are together. FUN is everything in life as life is not long enough to not have fun.
@Canadan you bringing up BDS w/ Spittin’ Chicklets hit home as that was the funniest & most entertaining “golf” video ever on YT. I have never been a hockey guy but I want to be one now because of getting to know those guys a little. They are amazing and I noticed after following their YT channel that there might be some other golf content from them.
Love the idea of alternative broadcast for golf. I will say ESPN+ did have something last week or 2 weeks ago that was an ESPN Bet broadcast. Showed all the live odds for each hole. Not exactly what you guys were saying but was better than normal broadcast for a degen like me.
Great show today as always. I do enjoy the TGL. I agree it can get and I’m guessing it will get better.
The YouTube segment of today’s show I totally agree with. I consume some sort of golf content on YT on a nearly daily basis. 100s more hours than that of tour content. One of the components of my YouTube enjoyment is I choose what I watch. There is content out there for everyone
Not too far into this yet.. But good times, and will knock out the rest when I am at the gym later today..
Watched this morning. Have a 9 hour drive today. I’m sure I’ll listen to it again on the drive
Only half way through. Will finish on YouTube today working out. Funny enough I went to the simulator this morning with some friends. Just for fun. Usually by myself so it was really enjoyable.
I’m proud of hearing @Jman talking about the ball speed chase and how bad it can be for your game. I’ve been victim of launch monitor chasing. My own fault. Well documented in the Ping i530 thread.
As @Canadan stated, ball flight rules. Monitors are great and fun but nothing like seeing your ball outside.
The two broadcast thing is a fantastic idea. I’m sure they would screw it up though.

lmao the alternate broadcast is just Jack Nicklaus talking about course design and rollbacks.
@Canadan your fear of tracking shots hits home. I didn’t realize how much more bad shots affected me until I stopped using my Shot Scope. I know I’m weird but it bothered me.
And @Jman trying to calculate 1/3 of his life sounded like me trying to calculate when my rangefinder was stuck in meters ?

I plan to overcome it this year, at least on the course.
I’ve got a few plans in mind that I’ll probably scrap quickly but either way, I’m not going to fear mediocrity.

I think now that I’ve had some time away from it, I’m going to give it a shot again. It’s been nice to kind of relearn just to put a bad shot out of my mind like you mentioned with the mental Mulligan. I really enjoy everything I can learn from the data. I just need to compartmentalize that part to after the round. As you know, easier said than done. I’m looking forward to how it all plays out for you.

Good show today guys. Watched on YT for the first time. Have been listening only prior to this.
“Feeting”. ???
Great listen.
Listened to this again on the drive home. @Canadan interesting point about indoor lineup vs outdoor. I haven’t considered that but it’s true. The hitting mats make it very easy to lineup.
I’ll have to keep an eye on that
