A couple of months ago we took a detailed look at the Play Away membership option from Club Corp. An often overlooked plan that has a lot to offer. We wanted to dive in a bit deeper, so reached out to them to discuss some of the options that come with the Playing Away.
THP: Play Away is an initiative for those that like to travel, what are some of the top golf destinations that are included in the membership that can be played?
Club Corp: Just a few of the amazing golf destinations in the ClubCorp Network of clubs include Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA, home of the ANA Inspiration LPGA tournament and Firestone Country Club in Akron, OH, home of the Bridgestone Senior Champions golf tournament. Members can also enjoy golfing where the pros play for the Insperity Invitational at The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands (Houston area). Additionally, members have access to Pinehurst Resort & Spa in Pinehurst, NC. These are just a few of the amazing opportunities the play away members can enjoy. Members have access to more than 300 clubs across the country!
THP: Dining is often overlooked, but shouldn’t be as we outlined previously. What is included in the Play Away Membership that they can indulge on?
Club Corp: Play Away Members receive 2 complimentary meals per month, per city club, that’s a full 4 course meal! Our city clubs are typically in downtown locations in high rise buildings so members can enjoy some of the best views of cities across the country.
THP: What are some of the top restaurants or dining spots that you recommend travelers take in?
Club Corp: One of our city clubs, The Metropolitan, is located in Chicago in the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower and one of the tallest buildings in the USA) on the 67th floor. The Metropolitan recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation and in addition to the spectacular views of Chicago, offers a new dining experience. Finally after enjoying dinner, Members also have the opportunity to head up to the 103rd floor and visit the SkyDeck!
When visiting Dallas, TX, members have the opportunity to dine and enjoy at the recently renovated Tower Club in the Thanksgiving Tower in Downtown Dallas. Recent renovations include two new Big Shots bays where members can use the sports simulators. This is a great place for entertaining clients, friends or even to take a break during a long meeting!
THP: What are the current costs associated with Play Away and where can they find more info?
Club Corp: The Play Away membership dues are just $60 a month (plus tax) and $1,000 initiation fee is currently being waived. Members pay cart fees when golfing and when dining at a city club, members pay tax, gratuity, applicable service charges and alcohol or specialty drinks.
