Bursting onto the seen, Payntr Golf is considered a disrupter of sorts. While you may not have heard about them as of yet, there is no doubt you will soon. With a background in the sport of Cricket, the story goes exactly how you would expect. Frustrated by the existing options, David Paynter decided to do something about it. You have heard this before in a number of areas, but in this instance, it isn’t cliche or hyperbole. Payntr has done exactly what they set out to do, create something unique, and since coming into the golf space they have done exactly that and their sales back it up.

Payntr is not your fly by night, buy something open sourced from overseas and stamp a label on it. It’s not a tired message of “cut out advertising and save”. It is a bonafide directive that says we are different, we think better and have the goods and pedigree to back it up. One of the co-founders is Mike Forsey, if the name doesn’t sound familiar, it’s because in the style space, unlike golf equipment R&D, this type of work goes unmentioned, but it shouldn’t. Forsey is no stranger to firsts and innovation in golf shoes. He launched the first Tiger shoe at Nike, the first Spieth shoe at Under Armor and he too wanted something better.
We will have more on the history of the brand I am sure at a future date, but for now let’s talk a bit about what they are releasing today, because it is different. Enter the Payntr X 004 RS, and yes that is not only a name that is impossible to remember, but a mouthful. Yet what it is, does, and plans to be is something you want to pay attention to.

- The First Ventilated Golf Shoe, Ever
- The First Golf Shoe with a Blister Free Heel and Blister Free Warranty
- The First Spiked Golf Shoe with Softspikes new Tour Flex Pro spike
- The First Spiked Golf Shoe with a Graphite Propulsion Plate
Before diving in on the latest tech in Payntr X 004 RS, it is important to note that this is the company’s first spiked model. It hits their website and stores today and retails for $200.
“This is a monumental moment for PAYNTR GOLF to introduce our first spiked product, leveraging the innovation Softspikes has provided golfers for decades,” says Co-founder and President of PAYNTR GOLF, Mike Forsey. “Our brand is all about delivering a footwear performance advantage to the golfer, specifically in the areas of traction and comfort. We accomplish this by focusing on the biomechanics of the golf swing and the on-course needs of the golfer.”

Let’s dive into the tech a little bit. The upper is microfiber, which is not only lightweight, but delivers flexibility while still offering support. The 3D molded heel is where things get pretty interesting. As you read above, they have a blister free guarantee, and this design hugs the back of your foot for support. The midsole is a Ventilated dual density foam that is designed to provide maximum energy return & ultimate under foot support. While that sounds great, what you will notice is comfort. The final thing I want to touch on is the graphite propulsion plate, because it does exactly what it sounds like it does. Harness ground reaction forces more effectively and combined with the new spikes, should in theory give you better stability, balance and thus speed. Can shoes make you longer? From a technical sense they absolutely can.
Is it water resistant? Yes. I wouldn’t say it will be the most waterproof shoe you encounter, but it isn’t designed to be. Neverwet superhydrophobic solution offers a non-wicking moisture protection.
There are a couple of other things I want to mention that stood out to me as I went over the shoe with a fine toothed comb. The footbed is an open cell foam so it compresses less than 5%. What this means is it has the cushion you want, but it never changes. Lastly, have you ever noticed current golf shoes either have no tongue and you are jamming your foot in there and hope for a snug fit, or a tongue that curls a bit and drives you crazy? The Payntr X 004 RS tongue offers stretch in that area to be lightweight, yet still be extremely stable.

This all sounds great, but we know our audience and what it comes down to is comfort and looks. Having not yet tried on a pair of the Payntr X 004 RS I have no comment as of yet, but the Payntr X 001 F fit true to size and were extremely comfortable. No reason to believe the sizing has changed dramatically with their first spiked pair. As to the style, we want to hear from you. What do you think of the looks? Leave us a comment below and let us know your thoughts.
The new Payntr X 004 RS hits stores today with a price tag of $200 and you can find them directly on their website at www.payntrgolf.com.
I’d like to see some in-hand pics, so hopefully they send some your way. Pretty compelling backstory. I’m more interested than I expected to be at first.

This is all part of my thought process of wanting more out of a shoe. I touched on it with my Royal Albartross Brand Story that better should exist and I am starting to see it more and more on the innovation front.

I totally agree. I’m thinking those shoes look pretty good as well. Kind of at the edge of my comfort, as I’m not really an interesting looking shoe kind of guy, yet.
I like the looks from the stock pictures. Not a bad price point considering the amount of tech and features.
I saw this brand at a golf shop on our trip to SC. Seemed well made and would have purchased a pair had they had them in my size.
God. I saw these somewhere online a few months ago and thought…..THATS A GOOD LOOKING golf shoe! L
anyways. Love the look. Quite certain I’ll be owning a pair of these in ’23
These look pretty dang good. The 001 are some of the most stable shoes I own.

sorry worded that wrong. Saw an announcement of sorts that showed a picture and something about them having new retail partners. Don’t remember who it was. But, they look awesome and their athletic shoe history is really intriguing.
thanks for the write up and announcement!
They have to do something about the names. I’m on their site now and it’s just confusing.
First time hearing of them, but definitely on the radar now. Shoes look great and the story behind the tech is intriguing.
Love the white pair with the black heel. Can’t say I’ve seen this brand before but I’d give them a look if I could see them in person
The shoe looks good. It’s tough because it’s a pretty drastic change from conventional golf shoes. I would probably wait to read more reviews before I bought a pair personally.
I’ve seen some PAYNTR shoes in the past that piqued my interest, and these continue that trend. I like the looks, and it seems like they put a lot of thought into the design. It’s great to have options!
Those look pretty nice to me. I’d def consider a pair….
Wasn’t sure what I thought when I started reading. However, I’m intrigued enough to possibly try a pair out this coming year. The no-blister heel is intriguing as well.
I thought for sure that ‘ventilated’ would also mean they wouldn’t keep out the water very well but then I kept reading. It’s great to hear you think they would be one of the most water resistant out there. That will at least allow these to be considered since I’m a ‘dew sweeper’ the majority of the time keeping my feet dry is pretty much #1 priority.
I’m interested in putting a pair on. Hopefully there will be a store near me that will carry them.
Serious question. Is the brand pronounced PAN-ter, like panther without the H, or Pain-ter, like the profession?

It’s a big statement, for sure.
I tend to obliterate the heel of a golf shoe. This kind of claim sort of fascinates me.

Me too. Heel breakdown tends to be the reason I get new ones….
Also interested in the tongue action JB spoke of…. Nike’s are a no go for me because I can’t fit my foot into the liner/shoe…. Def something that maybe on the list for this year.

Painter would be pronunciation
I’m not feeling the looks of these. It’ll be a long road for them to get into a segment that’s dominated by FJ, Nike, Puma, etc.
They sound cool. My 002 LE shoes are very comfortable and have great traction for a spikeless shoes. I’ll bet the new model is even better.
Looks like they borrowed some of the upper technology from the running shoe channel. Same with the midsole material. Such a hard business to break into. I like the idea of a blister free heel.
Pretty plain looking, soles look good. Remind me of a UA shoe I’ve seen before I think.
I have the original version of Payntr and I absolutely love them. I have plenty of Cuater options currently, but I will absolutely looking to buy a pair of these coming up!
That high heel tab may prove to be an issue for some folks.
Those look nice. Might need to try this brand in 2023.
More options are nice
While never trying their spikeless shoes, they’ve always intrigued me. Now these spiked shoe versions are awesome. Only need to wear down my current shoes before I buy another new pair. I think with 5 pairs of golf shoes and one never worn outside yet is enough for now.
Has anyone ever successfully been able to reach Payntr Customer Support?
They have a First Responder Discount program listed prominently on their website. I’ve tried submitting the form multiple times over the last few months (even tried last year at one point) and not once have I ever gotten an email or code for it. I’ve contacted them via Instagram and Twitter, the contact us page on their website was tried multiple times. I haven’t yet found a number listed to call them. Nothing has worked.
Is this just the norm with this company or am I missing something? I’d love to buy a pair of shoes and try them out. I’d also love to take advantage of a discount if it’s possible.

I know they have an Europe team and American team. That I was bounced back and forth between when ordering the first time and it was a PIA. All I can say is verify which team you’re contacting and good luck.

Interesting timing of this post, as I woke up to an email from someone that read this article and wanted to give me a heads up on some major issues with customer service they were experiencing after having an issue with an order. Days and days with no communication. Still no end in sight to the issue.
I have not had to deal with them in the past, so have no personal experience, but between that email and your post here and others, its definitely something to think about when there are so many really good shoes out there with great customer service.

Wow that is weird. I was on vacation last week and my Instagram adds led me back to their website. I tried submitting that form again, thinking maybe they had worked out their issues from last time and it appears they hadn’t. So that’s when I sent a bunch of questions to them on social media and then through their Contact Us form.
It stinks because the shoes look great and if I remember right @Golfers Anonymous had some and he said they were really comfortable. It is very concerning though if you had issues with the shoes, would you ever be able to resolve them.
Might just need to look elsewhere.

Oh geez, how did I miss this post
I contacted what I think was the American team. But maybe I’ll seek out the Europe group and see what they suggest. Still if it’s a PIA than maybe I just need to avoid it all together.
Pretty good looking option and my interest is piqued by a no-blister warranty. Have you tried a pair of these @JB? If so, what’s the tongue thickness like? Those cord-style laces are typically a no-go zone for me as I find they dig into the tongue and cause pinch points on the top of my foot.

Just read a few of the other posts and I get it, it’s frustrating when companies make it difficult for consumers to give them business.

Agreed. If this was something that blew me away or it was must have, I would understand. Looking at the flip side and something like Royal Albartross, which has some of the best customer service I have ever dealt with, it makes it hard to justify on my end.
I ordered a pair online last year, received them, and I’ve never had to deal with customer service. It’s a bummer to hear about these struggles, but hopefully they’ll get it together. I do enjoy the shoes. They fit great, are quite comfortable, and have good traction.
I did get a pair last year online (X001F) with the first responder discount because my wife is an RN, wish I could tell you how I did it but I can’t remember. Love the shoes, very comfortable, excellent traction, great for being water proof. Maybe a placebo effect but they have that graphite propulsion plate and it seems like it makes for an easier walk.
Since I came on here bashing them a bit yesterday, I have to give credit where it’s due. Last night I got responses from the US Instagram page, got an email from the support team and then again got an email from the Europe support team. They apologized and said they were having issues with their email system and sent me the first responder discount code.
I’m still hesitant to order from them based on this experience, but it was a start. Hopefully they figure things out. If I do order a pair I’ll definitely add my thoughts to the forum.
There is some cool stuff going on in that sole. The warranty is different, I’ve never had issues with blisters, etc but it’s cool I guess. The fact that they aren’t really waterproof is a miss for me as I play a lot of early morning rounds but they look pretty good and the price point while a little high isn’t offensive
I really like the looks of these, but I’m a visual person so would need to see them in hand. That being said, I have yet to see this brand in the wild.
Any longer term reviews here? My last two pairs I wore out the heel upper so the heel tech here is really interesting to me.
They looked great in hand.
