Phil Mickelson Wins Waste Management Phoenix Open With Incredible Driving

Phil Mickelson continued a rather impressive streak with a win today at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. By closing out the field for victory, Mickelson has won on tour for 10 consecutive years, and 20 seasons with at least one victory. A feat not easy to accomplish. After a rough start to the season, some said the 42 year old might have had very little left in the tank, but the long hitting lefty proved the world wrong with a remarkable performance to claim his 1st victory of the year.

Throughout the four rounds of golf, Mickelson was driving the ball incredibly well. Some would say possibly the best he has ever done in tournament play. This week in Scottsdale he moved into the new Callaway RAZR Fit Xtreme driver and it appears to be working well for him. It is lofted at 9.5 degrees, but is playing at 8.1 degrees and he has the weights set at 5 grams in the toe and 3 grams in the heel. The driver is featuring a 45 inch shaft that is the Mitsubishi Rayon Fubuki K. 059 prototype model with a flex of 70X.

If Mickelson continues to drive the ball this well early on in the season, keep a close eye on him in Augusta.
