The PING G425 driver just hit the USGA conforming list. You will start to hear news about the product line, mostly the driver as irons won’t be on there, but it will be a full line. To start with, here is what we can say. The G425 driver is made up of three models.
MAX
LST
SFT
The major story for driver will be a re-engineered CG shifter (weight movement) and a larger difference between the three models than the G410. For irons will be HydroPearl Consistency and multimaterial badge for feel.
These products (the full line) will then officially be released in Japan the following week. Shortly thereafter the full line will be released in AUS. They will NOT be released in N. America and PING will have no mention of them on their websites or marketing until embargo late into 2020, with a release date of 2021.
Those countries will have the lines listed on their websites at launch time (for Japan, it will next week and AUS the week after that). Speaking with the company over the last month, they have no official statement on the release currently, but do understand that as items hit the international PING sites, that messaging and images will appear.
Very good, I think the colors on the G410 looks "cheapish".
Will be interesting to compare G425 to Mizuno HM/HMP next year
I thought I read somewhere it was a black and gray color scheme.
don’t hold my memory to the fire here, but it did appear a mix of pearl-chrome, black and either a grey or light blue…..didn’t spot any red. My main takeaway from the quick viewing was the back of the club is more understated (compared to 410s) so not as busy or as colorful. And the club’s footprint when you look down at it was not as big as the previous model — we’re talking small measures but Ping appear to have gone for more of a player’s club-look along with the forgiveness most folks need.
I heard that most of the iron lineups will be staying until Q4 2021
If they aren’t as wide on the bottom something I might be interested in next Spring.
I have a set of G15s and was trying to hit them recently with no success at all. The combination of very soft shafts, long toe/heel face, and huge sole screwed with my swing big time. I’ve gotten used to thinner irons. I used to hit the G15s pretty well a few years back, but I think the wide sole has always fought my picker/sweeper type swing.

If you turn on the closed captioning and have it auto translate to english you get some funny translations in there. No real info though. Just a bunch of Japanese people sitting around a speculating like we are.
if what i saw is the final product i think it’s a step back. i quite liked the bronze. the red and black was ok. not sold on this yet.
Does appear to be matte black, white and gray. To me that would be a plus (neutral) colors that can match any bag setup. Wasn’t a fan of the G410 red accents.

Nice grab
Yeah. You drop the Max 500 RPM and I’d be in that 2100 wheelhouse with a forgiving driver, that’s scary! Hahaha
My Japanese is not that good, but I have the feeling they like it.
Probably did not need it on fwy. But I still do not like the flat sole – I like the shape of a smiley face. Wish they had changed it. Smiley face is easier out of bunkers and poor lies.
I hate when they dub the club sounds in so that it is the exact same sound every time someone hits. And on top of that, they use such an annoying sound!
Thought driver sounded better than fairways.
That’s what the below says….

According to the video, this new Max head is like 600RPM lower spin than the G400 Max.
I’m with you. While I’m sure they’re fine fairway woods, I cannot stand the sole. Or the overall shape of them for that matter.
I can appreciate the fact that the driver will look extremely similar at address to what they’ve done in the past.
In the first 1:15 of this video, the google auto translate into english told me about buying an empty moon and an enema.
Interesting. I wonder if those baffles also provide some additional stiffness as well.
Sounds like a fun Friday night for you…
There was also this one too.

That is amazing…. lol
fwiw that is not good news for someone like I am, unless it also comes with an increase in launch. reduced spin means reduced carry for me more often than not.
Well, it was a for a specific persons, single swing….so take it with a grain I suppose. My guess is Ping will report something more tame.
Go to 06:20 in the driver video to see….
Agree on the steaming rice cakes.
that was my guess
Rye angle (degree)
I believe the G400 Max is 9900 MOI. What’s the MOI on the G425 Max?
Not sure the exact number but the > 10k came from this article
In the CG charts floating around the web, the combined moi of the G410 Plus was 8,984. This article says they increased it 14% over the G410 Plus which should equal 10,242 for the G425 Max.

Isn’t it easier to add spin with either a shaft change or increasing the loft than it is to lower spin (while still keeping the carry up)?
for me, the easiest (and cheapest) way to change spin profile is with a ball change. then a head change (including moving weights and/or loft). then a shaft change.
i’m not sure that it’s easier to add spin than it is to knock spin off. i’d think changes would be somewhat the same all else held equal.
It shouldnt be, no. They are on the conforming list.
