The PING G425 driver just hit the USGA conforming list. You will start to hear news about the product line, mostly the driver as irons won’t be on there, but it will be a full line. To start with, here is what we can say. The G425 driver is made up of three models.
MAX
LST
SFT
The major story for driver will be a re-engineered CG shifter (weight movement) and a larger difference between the three models than the G410. For irons will be HydroPearl Consistency and multimaterial badge for feel.
These products (the full line) will then officially be released in Japan the following week. Shortly thereafter the full line will be released in AUS. They will NOT be released in N. America and PING will have no mention of them on their websites or marketing until embargo late into 2020, with a release date of 2021.
Those countries will have the lines listed on their websites at launch time (for Japan, it will next week and AUS the week after that). Speaking with the company over the last month, they have no official statement on the release currently, but do understand that as items hit the international PING sites, that messaging and images will appear.
I’ve only had one interaction with ping customer service several years ago, and back then it was pretty bad. sorry to hear you had a bad experience. as far as their current clubs being too gimmicky, i’d disagree with that. a lot of love on tour and in amateur bags for recent ping driver releases.
Maybe I should say at my age “relative bombs” as cannot put it out there like my son who can drive short par 4s.
That’s too bad. Guess I’m accustomed to weird club clubs – I played the Cleveland VAS irons in the late 90’s and the Nike SQ in the early 00’s. Have no issues with the G400 driver series, even with Turbulators. The 410 – did not like the setup for some reason. The matte finish helps a bit. Still gaming the G400 Max and will give the 425 a shot when released.
I doNt even notice them and the matte is a major plus
I’ve seen them for 3 yrs so I think of them as being there to help. I’ve accepted their presence. And it’s a club that you play off a tee, so it does not detrimentally affect playability but exists to enhance the driving experience.
Ugh. I’m so annoyed right now. They’re great drivers. I really like hitting them. It would take next level benefits over other drivers for me to even try to get past the Mad Max video game/tread plate visual nonsense though. Every review mentions those damn turbulators, and almost always negatively. I don’t get it. It costs them money. I’ve never been as angry or against them as other people I know, but I want to like this one. It’s just a non-starter for me with that look.
It’s done to break up the resistance to the club on the downswing. I do not know if it only helps at a certain swingspeed but they are there. I just changed my mindset about it.
The way people think tubulators are a non starter on a club seems comparable to a girl with a unibrow. She might have a great personality (really performs well) but the unibrow (turbulators) just doesn’t turn you on. You might secretly really like the Ping driver and occasionally see it on the down low so your other driver doesn’t find out. However, you think your friends will make fun of you endlessly because of her turbulators (unibrow) if you decide to make it your permanent driver. Your current driver might be prettier than the Ping driver but maybe the Ping might just make you happier in the long run.
i’m not sure if we can be friends anymore
Yes, the Max needs some sound bars…
I do have a Mavrik that I borrow from my son’s bag. Now that club sounds and feels like a golf club should feel.
haha look at your comment that i quoted. i bolded the part where you said you played vas irons in the 90s!!!
Oh, the VAS experience was short lived. I was a newbie to golf, Corey Pavin just won the Open and I needed loads of forgiveness. I moved on to Titleist 962’s afterwards and then Miura CB-201’s when I knew more and was too ambitious. I’m sure there were a few sets of Pings mixed in there, too.
My SZ Xtreme sounds like trash but if it’s getting me 10 more yds on average And the same FIR % than my normal gamer I’m gaming it.
This will be no different if it produces.
Only time I really notice sound is when comparing side by side with another club. Once I get it on the course and the sound normalizes I don’t notice it any longer.
everyone is different though. I’m just not one that gets hung up on sound.
i agree. szx sounds awful. if it produces, i agree sound is irrelevant. but my understanding is the 410 had a great sound. if 425 is a step back in sound, it better perform a good bit better.

I ordered a G410 driver in August and got it in 3 weeks.

Looks really good too. I like the neutral colors (black, gray and white) that match any bag setup.

Do wish they removed the turbulators on the driver like they did on the fw and hybrids though. Makes no sense to me not to have them all matching. The crown of the fw and hybrids look much better.
No – the Turbulators and dragon fly remain on the driver.
Think Ping is kinda stuck with them, otherwise people are going to say it looks too much like the G25 or Anser without them.

Merged with existing thread for you.
I don’t think I have been in a coma
Can you tell us about the feel and sound of the 425 irons esp. compared to the 400 and 410’s if you have experience with them?
I’m really liking forward to driver feedback. Even with all the stuff on the top it’s one of the options in most interested in learning about.
On launch day which has not been named officially.
1/11 is the pre sale and 2/4 is the launch from what I’ve seen.
Yes that was originally given to us but hearing moving target now.
