Please note: PING supplied limited information of the form of a press release at a very late date for all parts of the G430 line. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may cause our readers.
With claims of distance gains that “are like nothing we’ve seen from one generation of clubs to the next,” PING is announcing the latest addition to their long-standing G line of irons, the G430.

PING states their newest irons produce up to 2mph more ball speed and distance gains of 7 to 10 yards along with improved accuracy. This was achieved via “a complex design that combines a lower CG with stronger, custom-engineered lofts and a thinner face”.
The new PurFlex cavity badge, with its seven flex zones, is designed to allow the face to flex more and increase balls speeds. In addition, as most cavity badges are built to do, PING believes the PurFlex badge improves sound and feel.

John K Solheim states, “We know golfers want more distance from their irons but distance without control doesn’t lead to lower scores. That’s why we put so much emphasis on designing an iron that not only goes a very long way, but it flies higher, straighter and lands softer.”

Though details are sparse, PING briefly explained that a redesigned, shorter hosel allowed them to redistribute weight lower in the iron head to retain ball speeds, especially low on the face. In addition, tungsten weighting on both the toe and shaft tips increases each head’s MOI (forgiveness). Finally, in the hopes of reducing the ill-effects of heavy contact, an additional degree of bounce was added to the sole.

I don’t think is has to do with cheap materials. I believe Ping wanted that area to flex with the black material. Could be wrong there though. Also they probably wanted that material light too as to not raise tie Cg of the head.

It surely looks cheap to me and as a fitter told me recently they overdesigned the club. What is going to happen to this metal after years of flexing if it can get bag chatter so easily? Also those plastic triangles are hideous. The 430 COG is .840 on a 253g head whereas the Stealth COG is .770 with a 262g head.
Maybe PING should’ve removed mass from the toe and had toe wrap construction like TM stealth lol, or even resorted to some type of rubber-like in the Glide wedges.
Yes, PING has been a pillar of quality and craftsmanship but just like every other manufacturer in and out of the golf world cutting corners for cost savings and profits is a reality.
At least they finally got the sound right in their 430 drivers hence why I own one.

Well i hope you are playing Stealth irons and not the cheap Pings lol. Plastic triangles lol. thousands of 430s out there and you can count the clowns on one hand that have bag chatter in the cavity.

I’m as big a ping fan as there is, but like I said above, I bought 2 like new sets off a reputable dealer online and each set had one cavity that was scratched on the metal badging pretty bad.
I just looked up g430 irons on eBay.
First 3 out of 5 sets that came up looked like this. Might not matter to the masses but it bugged me when I had them. Same issue with the Paradigm cavity. Marks up pretty easily.

Cant imagine what is being done by people for these irons to get like this.

I’m guessing bag setup plays a part. I could see if someone had a wedge that rested against the cavity while in the bag. Add that plus riding in carts and the constant jiggling around.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen a 45.5 wedge until today????

Callaway Rogue X (which I loved) came out when? 2016? They’ve had a 41*PW, 46* AW ever since In the GI lineup.
Catching up here it looks like the cavity may be an issue, but the used set on the rack just wanted to go straight this afternoon.

Cavity is not an issue at all, people are idiots. These are a cheat code most forgiving iron made.

I’m as big a ping homer as there is. And the cavity on these do get banged up easily. I bought 2 certified preowned like new sets from global and both sets looked mint other then one iron on each set someone looked like they took a dremel tool to the bars on the cavity. Doesn’t impact performance but in my opinion it was an oversight on pings part to not design it differently.
I’ve seen used sets at PGA Superstore and the cavities are pretty chewed up.
Fighting words!

Not surprising anyone lol
Bought the G425 used back when I started. Same issue the insert in the cavity was banged up like in the pictures above, scratches and partial discoloring on the metal. Seems like an overall design flaw with the 425/30s.
But the rest of the iron looked flawless. So guessing the plaque is just not holding up well like the rest of the club. Abused the poor fellows quite a lot as a beginner and they took it like champs ? I really dig the design of the G430s though, just couldn’t get myself to cough up the money on a new set last year.
Hmm. I bought 2 sets of g425’s new and 2 sets of g430’s. Never had the issue with the 425 cavity getting banged up. And I gamed both for over a season.
This was the set I sold this week. Overall thought they looked mint

Yeah they look almost mint! you took good care, unlike my irons previous owner – I literally can not understand how you can get wear on the badge that badly.
Well they still perform and it doesn’t really bother me as a “first set” to get the training wheels off.
I am back in the Ping “G” fold. I have been working on my iron swing lately and decided to scrap my draw type swing with irons I normally play and try and work on a more straight ball to slight fade swing. When I have done this type of swing in the past, Ping irons have worked the best for me, so I sort of self fit myself into a 6-45* blue dot retro spec set of G430’s. Ordered 2 weeks ago and hope they arrive in the next week or two.
I tried these at our local golf superstore this week and had a phenomenal session. I’m going back tomorrow just to see if it was a fluke.
I ended up canceling my G430 irons order. TGW.com was not giving me any updates on my order so I had reached out to Ping. They asked me which components I had on my order and told them,. Was told that the Elevate 95R shaft was on backorder until the last week of Aug. so they told me I’d probably see them mid Sept by the time they built them and shipped them out to me in OH. That was a bummer. I have been messing around the Zipcore with KBS Tour Lite 95 and I am thinking the heavier steel might not be the most ideal for me. I have always done well with Ping Alta graphite being 73g and a little heavier than alot of oem graphite shafts (usually being in that 50-60g range) but not as heavy at lite weight Steel shafts.
I may just end up ordering a set of 430’s with the Alta shaft and calling it a day.
Looking forward to the G440’s — they no doubt redesigned the cavity area. Already bought shafts for them – MMT 65 to maintain a decent swing weight of D3 with the metal mesh in the tip
Not sure how many G430 fans we have out there but I have been researching irons over the past 4 weeks, and these seem to be at the top of my list. Something about the look at address just appeals to my eye. Looks very forgiving but not overly huge like some of the past Ping G series iterations. I know that Ping is getting ready to release the G440 irons but, even if they look awesome, I am tempted to get the 430’s when the price drops. I have read this entire thread, but I need some of you Ping G series guys to tell me how great these are. I have heard terms like “cheat code” and “the easiest-to-hit-iron out there”. Can anyone confirm this praise?

I had three sets of G430s but they never stuck for me. I need launch and spin. I should have tried then in retro lofts.
I had G425 irons both in std lofts and retro lofts and shot my personal best +1 72 with them 3 seasons ago. Dummy me should have kept them around instead of continuing to chase ?
But yes ping “G” are like the Honda Accord of golf irons. Reliable, functional and will last forever.
After two dozen or so rounds, I’m finding my 430’s are improving my game.
No extra distance but I’m able to shape my shots better.
As far as the badging goes…mine look like the first day I played.
The soles do seem to get more wear than I expected.
The face of the clubs do show a pattern of ball strikes more than expected.
I keep the clubs covered when not in play. My bag set up keeps the
chatter to a minimum.
Nice looking irons, and Ping’s satin finish really stands up to the abuse well. My 13 year old Ping irons that are in my “old clubs” bag look newer than my 3 year old current irons do, on both the face and the sole.
Same here. My 430’s have a couple of dozen rounds on them and the soles have some definite scratches. The faces show ball marks from consistent strikes.
My G30’s show less sole marks and about the same face marks.

I think the sole marking is probably more dependent on where you play and the conditions of the soil.
I know around here in Ohio unless you hit at a range that is very sandy, using them on the course, hardly ever makes any marks unless you catch a tiny stone in the soil. I had 2 sets of G425 irons that I gamed each for 30+ rds and you could hardly tell them from being new when I sold them both.

range is definitely sandy soil…the seed / sand mix has built up over time. i’m going to test the theory when new clubs come in (going back to a longer shaft & more upright setup).
