One of the coolest things in golf is to see a brand that comes onto the scene to disrupt, and does just that, but as time goes, they evolve into something much more resonating. Frankly, it doesn’t happen much in this industry, there are way more failures than successes for those trying to gain a seat at the table.
Interestingly, it is in the distance measurement realm of golf equipment that we are seeing some companies truly accomplish the feat of establishing themselves as a long-term contender. One of those, is Precision Pro. On what feels like a mission to force the rest of the industry to evolve and innovate when it comes to distance measurement, this company has been moving at a fever pitch in recent years. Their next target? Making rangefinders fun again. Enter stage right, the Precision Pro NX10 Rangefinder.

Quick Take
Precision Pro again brings a “wow” product to the table. For the price, it may be the most complete rangefinder on the market, and that is without the unique-to-the-segment customization options. This is one of the fastest rangefinders on the market that is crystal clear and offers all the bells and whistles which golfers could want. This is a must try for those looking for a new rangefinder in 2022-2023
Precision Pro NX10 Rangefinder
At first glance, this looks like an expected upgrade and evolution of the highly successful NX9 rangefinder, which in my opinion really solidified Precision Pro’s place in the distance measurement game. No longer were they just a cheap option, they were an affordable option with innovation and performance at the forefront. Not to mention, all the while establishing tremendous customer service to ensure long term happiness of their customers. So, if you expect the NX10 to just be a rehash of the NX9, you might be pleasantly disappointed…think about that one for a moment.

The thing which Precision Pro is touting the most about the NX10 is bringing customization to rangefinders. There is nothing else like it out there and it cannot be stated enough just how impressive that is. But it isn’t the aspect of customization, it is the application of it which impressed me when I got the NX10 in hand for review. You see, the base of the unit has a changeable plate which is held in place by magnets making it easy to swap out. Additionally, the bezel around the lens and laser on the front can be unscrewed and changed out too. Now, before it is asked, yes, I worried about the holding power of the magnets as well, but how they wrap around the unit made it rock solid and not once while trying to beat the unit up on the course did I have any issues.

Where the customization is concerned, Precision Pro is making available all sorts of options, and the company is committed to sticking to this while continuing to grow the options available. At the time of this review, there were 25 designs (states, fun images, patterns, companies) and 11 solid color choices (you can even mix solid options for the two different parts of the rangefinder). For the review, I was sent the NX10 with its base white/black option, as well as a yellow faceplate and handle to swap out. The process was simple and fast, besides the small screws on the face, there really is minimal effort required to give yourself a completely different looking rangefinder.

However, as cool as all that customization is, there is much more to the NX10. I know why the company is pushing that aspect as hard as they can, because it’s truly one of a kind in an industry where so many things seem the exact same as everything else. I say this wholeheartedly though, the NX10 from a performance standpoint stands up to everything else out there, and it might be better than a vast swath of “traditional” rangefinder “powers”. The NX10 has great form factor, not super compact, it has some weight to it so you can feel it and balance it easily when aiming, but it is not cumbersome at all. It is in all that which makes the NX10 feel impressively durable.

All the bells and whistles you hope to see from a rangefinder are present as well. A magnetic cart grip which has ample strength to stay put when driving stands out, but not as much as the internal specs of the unit. The HD Optics with 6X magnification were crystal clear on the course for me, but the adaptive slope and pulse vibration remain among the best performing features compared to any other device on the market. Also, for those curious, yes, the on/off switch is present for the slope feature to make it tournament legal.

In all, this is as good as there is out there right now, and the customization mixed with the super-competitive base price truly makes the NX10 a must try for those looking to upgrade their rangefinder this year. While the display optics may not have the flashiness as some other options, I can almost guarantee they do not have the absolute lightning–fast speed of the NX10.

@Jank ^^^^ nice review. I was playing yesterday and hit a nasty bump on the cart path I wasn’t expecting. It fell off the cart post (Anything would have) and hit the cart path. I figured it was toast but I picked it up and felt the buzz go off. Shot the next pin without issue. The white hard case did get a bit of an asphalt burn but it still functions fine.
It hit hard enough that the side skin fell off and I didn’t notice it at first and had to go back to where it hit the path.
Props to its durability
One other quick note… the vibrate function when the NX10 locks on basically occurs on 100% of the readings that I had. My Bushnell, though it is a few years old, seems to do the “jolt” vibrate feature on maybe 50% of my readings now. I’m still confident in the distance, but it’s nice having that feedback to feel when using the unit.
I recently ordered 2 skins for mine.
It’s cool they give you the 2nd one at I think 50% off (could be wrong there).
One of them was the neon yellow skin… I was thinking it would look like my painted one above (neon lime) and it wasn’t neon at all which was a let down.
Also ordered the one called “Beer”. I was disappointed in this one too as the logos are tiny and you need glasses to even see what they are.

I never opened either and might just send them back for a refund. PP is always good to work with so I am sure they would accept the return.
Having an issue where my slope distance is only reading out a 1 or 2 digit distance (i.e. distance to pin is 154, slope is reading 19). Anyone seen this before? I reached out to PrecisionPro directly for some advice earlier in the week.

I’ve not had that issue, but the one issue that I’ve been having is that it will lock on to something behind the pin. I have an SL1 and haven’t had that issue with it unless I’m way off. With the NX10, I don’t have to be very far off at all. I’ll keep using it and do a side by side next time I’m out. Not ready to move on from it just yet but I’m not ruling out going back to the SL1, either. ????

Welp, my rangefinder seems to be good now. Weird. I will update if the same thing happens.

Luckily the issue fixed itself, but Precision Pro recommends the following in case someone else has this issue:
One thing to try is a manual reset. You can do this by taking the battery out and waiting 30 seconds before putting it back in. Another thing to try is wiping the lens down with a soft cloth to clean it of any dust/debris.
Used the rangefinder at home for the first time this past weekend. It is faster to get the pin distance than I am used to and I really like the display. It is my first time with a magnet on a range finder and we will see how that works out for me and not losing it when I start riding in a cart here again.

A tip that I picked up was to keep your keys/wallet in your rangefinder case. Hasn’t failed me yet since I started doing that after I left one on the cart a few years back.
Wanted to share some initial impressions of the NX10 since I won’t be playing my first true round using it until this weekend.
Out of the box I was very impressed. I was using a bushnell which felt kind of cheap and plasticy. The NX10 feels very solid. It has some weight to it and the material feels very durable. It feels a little Thicker than the bushnell which I view as a positive.
As for locking into pins, you don’t need to be precise at all. There’s a big circle you just hit the pin with and it locks on right away. I’ve never used a range finder with the slope feature but the few times I used it at Ballyhack it came in very handy. There were several instances where I probably would haveplayed the wrong shot.
I’m super impressed with it thusfar. Here’s a few features for anyone interested

I’ve had it for a few weeks. It appeared to fix itself for a round, but had a similar issue my last round as well as some weird distances when I hit a pin.

Might be worth reaching out to them. I had the NX9 and most of the time it wouldn’t read a target unless I removed the battery and put it back in or wiped the lens. I am talking like every other time I went to use it. So I returned it within the 30 day window no questions asked. I gave them another chance with the NX10 Slope and its been really good.
Getting out with the NX10 again later today. I’ve been pretty obsessed with the slope feature. There’s been quite a few shots where it’s playing longer than I would have guessed. Every once in a while it will give you a weird reading but it’s definitely weird enough to make you shoot it again. On average it happens about once per round.
Outside of that, I love how easy it is to lock onto a pin. I have shaky hands when I shoot it with one hand and it’s very quick to lock on.
The magnet is also insanely strong. You canput it on a cart and it doesn’t move in the slightest. It also gives it a nice weight which is comfortable to hold
Really like my NX10. I had magnet issues like another member. Just from driving on the cart path from grass knocked it off a few times. PP customer service was fantastic and replaced it. No issues with the replacement. Really enjoy the customization but really love how fast it locks on target and the non cluttered view.
Shoutout to Precision Pro Customer service! I dropped my NX10 in Florida. After I got home it developed these odd spots in the internal optics. They are sending me a replacement unit free of charge.

It locks on so easy. Compared to my old bushnell, the lock on area is much larger.
Surprised to hear about the magnet, must have just been a bad magnet. Mine is super strong. I’m always nervous I’ll forget it in the cart when I’m done with the round
Sneaky feature on the case. I hate having excess tees in my bag, so this helps keep my tee pocket clear of clutter since the Evolve tees almost never break. May be in trouble if I lose several tees in a round, but it’s worth the risk for me.

I’ve used the NX10 ever since I got back from Ballyhack and I love this thing! I was never a big rangefinder user since I have Arrcos but I seem to use it more every round rather than looking at my watch or phone for a distance from Arccos. It is 10x better than my amazon rangefinder. Lol. It locks on very fast and is very accurate. The slope reading is great to have as well. Haven’t had any issues so far. Definitely recommend this rangefinder!

One thing I do to eliminate leaving
it in the cart is put the case in the jacket basket on the cart or under the steering wheel storage. I’ve left mine on the cart and since I started doing this – never forgot it again!

Have used this exclusively since Budget Champ. The magnet held on through EVERYTHING at Ballyhack. Just used it in a cart two weeks ago though and it fell off five times. Has quite a few scuff marks now and is quite a bit of a bummer. Rangefinder itself is fantastic. The magnet just got weaker all of a sudden though. Could very well be quality of cart though?? Are all cart frames the same?

Have also used it exclusively since Budget for every round I’ve played. I have never once had it fall off the frame of a cart. Can’t comment on frame materials though. Mine has a couple scrapes on it however from dropping it. ?
The performance of the NX10 has been outstanding for me though. Good magnification, locks on very quickly. My last one was an NX7 and it didn’t have the magnet feature. I love it.

I have the same issue on my Motocaddy. I have a thin metal plate that I fasten it to on top of the scorecard holder and the NX10 falls off several times per round. My Bushnell would maybe fall off once every other round. Think I may get a thicker piece of steel hoping that it helps it stick better.

Others had a problem with this as well and I never did, although changed to a different device.
I still believe its not the strongest, but definitely works better with different carts. As you saw with the ones at Ballyhack vs what you are using now.
Very odd.

Haven’t had any magnet issues knock on wood. It did take a spill yesterday during the round after being bumped. There’s a tiny knick from hitting a rock but that’s about it. One thing I had to start doing out of habit was shooting the pin twice as I would occasionally get a weird yardage. In all but one instance it was enough to make me question the number right away. Outside of that I have no complaints. Im liking this one a lot more than my previous Bushnell
I loved mine. Probably my favorite range finder to date. Fastest I had used. But mine got rained on and not warranty for that so time to start over.
I did have a magnet issue early on a PP’s customer service was awesome to deal with. They replaced my unit with defective or at the very least, weak magnet. The replacement was much stronger. Loved that thing.

Changed the piece of metal that I had mounted on my Motocaddy from a paper thin piece of scrap metal to a 3/8″ thick piece of steel and the hold is much stronger. Hopefully the PP NX10 stays on my cart longer as it fell off at least 10 times on Saturday while hitting just minor bumps along the course.

Zero issues at Ballyhack, ALL the issues at another course and back to zero issues this last weekend. To me, the reliability of the magnet very much seems to be tied to the quality of cart

Yeah super strange. I made mention of this before when someone else was struggling with magnet and was mocked haha, but I absolutely believe it to be true.
The Bushnell I reviewed recently that is considered by many to have a top notch magnet was locked on good and then at Hammock Beach fell off three times.

lol yeah you know what, I dont know what it means either. Guess I meant cart instead of push cart.
Mine still falls off the cart post from time to time, but it usually takes a really solid bump, like one that nearly dumps your bag out onto the course for it to fall off. unfortunately with the hard plastic case they use it does nick up pretty badly. I will post some pics of mine later. But it still keeps on ticking and is just cosmetic. I just wished they used more of a silicon type rubber outside coating to protect it from the scratches/nicks. or at least provided a wrap to buy to also protect it like some of the Bushnells and Nikons have.
as for the cart posts. I guess it can be dependent on that as, as I have used it for a full season now, some cart posts it does seem to adhere better to. Other ones it seems to want to move around it more easily and or fall off. So @JB , not sure if I was the one you mentioned as mocking you a while back. probably, but you are right, that different cart posts seem to work better or worse with the magnet.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE – UNIT NEVER CHARGED SO NEVER WORKED. EXPENSIVE PAPER WEIGHT!
I received this unit as a gift – It worked when I took it out of the box – but when I went to use it on the golf course it wouldn’t power on. I figured it needed a charge but it would not charge, regardless of the cord or power outlet. I contacted customer service. They told me they would replace it and have me send the defective unit back. I then got a second email saying they would replace it and I could discard the old unit. They never sent out the new unit. When I inquired they responded that their warranty does not cover lost/stolen units but they would give me 30% off towards a new one. Each message came from a different person in customer service. Troll post. As @Jman pointed out the NX10 is not rechargeable. It runs off a CR2 battery which Precision Pro replaces for the life of the unit I believe. Mine is still showing full battery life and I am still on the first battery. and as @Minarets pointed out, their Customer Service is some of the best in the business. I had big time issues with the NX9 laser which they completely refunded my money because I was within their 30 day return window. And my first NX10 had what seemed like a really weak magnet which I emailed them and they sent a new unit out even with me not having even returned the other unit.
Received one of these for the Budget Championship this past May and the battery is starting to show down to 2 bars. I went on the website and ordered my replacement battery. It said it required $2.99 shipping which is still cheaper than buying the batteries in the store. Small things like this is what keeps customers. The battery and a new skin should be here next week.

My NX10 Slope just stopped working, got new in July. I didn’t notice a low battery but just ordered a free battery from Precision. Hope that’s it because I really like this unit.
I have the American flag skin and the magnet is solid on carts.
I put my NX10 back on the bag this weekend and I remember why I like it so much. It’s a bit on the bigger side for a rangefinder but it’s accurate as hell and lighting quick. The numbers in the eye piece are big and easily discernible on whether you’re looking at slope or non slope distance.
Not sure this is coming off the bag again

I’ve been using mine every round ever since the Budget last year. Love this thing! It has fallen off the cart a handful of times, a couple times really hard with a bounce or two, did a quick check to see if it still worked and this thing is a tank! Lol. Works fantastic to this day while still super quick and very accurate. Love the slope feature too.

Yeah I’ve learned the magnet strength depends on the quality of the cart lol
Mine has fallen off a few carts, HARD. Just a couple nicks to show for it and still performing like a champ. I don’t think I’ll be switching out from this one any time soon!
I’ll start by saying this is the first true range finder I’ve owned. The one I used off and on previously was a hand me down and not made for golf so it worked but it took more effort than what it was worth honestly
The NX10 is night and day difference. It picks up the target with ease and sends back the numbers almost instantly. The slope is something I never had previously so that is also a great feature. The magnet for me has been just fine (only used for 27 holes so far) but I saw some concerns reading earlier posts so I’ll keep an eye out. I also really like the idea of being able to change covers and get a fresh look after awhile too. Excited to use this as the season gets under way here

Interested to hear your thoughts! I have enjoyed the rangefinder over the last year, mostly, but I have had a few issues. Mainly, I think that a magnet flush with the unit has a better hold as I still have issues with the NX10 falling off of my Motocaddy. Also, my unit has had a decent increase in false readings that require a re-laser. I guess the “good” think about this problem is that it is like 40-50 yards off, so I generally know a re-shoot is required. Lastly, I think that the battery life meter is mostly meaningless as mine jumps all over the place, up and down. It will go from 2 bars to 4 bars to 1 bar all in the same round.
