Precision Pro has made quite the name for themselves in a noticeably short period of time, with Rangefinder options across the spectrum as a much more palatable and direct to consumer price. Well, the company is adamant they are about to bring something totally unique and technology packed into the marketplace, it’s called the Precision Pro R1.
Precision Pro R1 Rangefinder
According to the company this is the most advanced rangefinder they have ever designed, and that there is nothing else like it out there.
As is customary with all of their products, the R1 features their 6X magnification, pulse vibration technology, magnetic cart grip, as well as a lifetime battery replacement guarantee which remains incredibly cool. This one goes much deeper, however.
Using “MYSLOPE” technology, the rangefinder adapts to the player as well as the environment by using an algorithm which combines the golfers unique ball data like launch, ball speed, and spin with the environmental variables such as temperature, humidity, and altitude. By doing this, each course now give data specific to the person using its game and needs.
While yes, this requires using the Precision Pro Golf app, you do not have to look at or use the phone during the round as the rangefinder will sync with it via Bluetooth. What makes it even more interesting is that all of this information will be displayed through the rangefinder onto its LCD screen. With a button push you get standard laser information, and with another you can get slope via the laser as well as front/middle/back through GPS, it will also give you pertinent wind data based on the current weather. Of course, this can all be turned off to make the unit USGA Conforming.
With a price of $319.99, the Precision Pro R1 is eye catching to say the very least, and we at THP will soon have a unit in hand to see if it delivers on some of the most unique design features ever integrated into a rangefinder. I do like that it will sync to the app without having to select clubs, that is a cool feature.
Any idea on release date?
I do wonder though. Where does it get your ball data for the custom slope? I wonder if you have to manually put it in?
Well color me intrigued now as I can’t seem to find my current one. This maybe top of the list if I can’t locate the current one!
I guess my question is how does it know what club you hit unless you open the app? and how does it figure launch, ball speed and spin?
Now that is impressive.
Dangit JB, always showing me cool stuff!!!!!!!
wholeheartedly agree on this.
the fact that I just bought a NX9 a couple weeks ago due to losing my original, or rather having it stolen, the R1 is looking like a great device to help limit that from happening again.
Shows mid/late June delivery.
@MSEASU
I’ll take that challenge. I’ve lost 2
My thoughts too. For that price you’re getting a ton of data and a pretty good range finder.
We won’t have one in hand for a couple of weeks. As soon as that takes place, @Jman will be testing it out thoroughly.
Really eager to work with this one, a lot going on here for sure
How so? Besides the 280.00 more?
Im eager to see if this delivers, some bold claims for 319
if they can get all of that right for that price point, I would think those who like to buy a rangefinder at that 250 mark would certainly think about going this way.
The Z82 offer GPS points for hazards (front/back), green like the R1, 200/150/100 points as well as a visual of the hole…The R1 does not. The z82 also offers integration of weather.
For 280.00 more, that’s not an insignificant amount
Agreed, if it delivers, they’ve disrupted things again potentially
Pay less and get less….the Z82 simply offers better GPS comparison wise.
But, how do you know that? That’s an assumption, no?
Check what the z82 specs are for gps…much more than the r1…by far.
I do have the z82, so no assumption…fact
Sent from my Note 9
Again though, you’re basing on assumption even with the specs having not actually seen the device in operation. Is it surprising the specs are less when it’s at a 280.00 lower price? Not at all. Could it be just as effective? Yep, and we are going to find out.
MGS did a review and spelled out what the r1 has re gps…not even close to the z82.
Sent from my Note 9
Who?
I’ll just wait for when we get it in hand for a full and thorough review, which is very soon.
"The R1 gives targeted yardages, plus front/middle/back GPS measurements."
If the GPS info is limited to just the green then the Garmin Z82 blows it away from a GPS standpoint with all the info it has on a visual of each hole.
