Here at THP, we have always believed that testing should be done not only by our staff writers, but also everyday golfers, just like you. It is around that belief which we have always put a heavy emphasis on testing opportunities for our members where we put the product into your hands and let you tell the world about your experiences. Every month we send out products from across the spectrum to active members to be a part of this THP Forum Member testing.

Recently, we sent out something a bit different, golf sunglasses produced by Scheyden Precision Eyewear. You see, in the past two years on all professional golf Tour’s, more players and caddies have switched to Scheyden than any other brand. Their eyewear is manufactured in Japan to aerospace tolerances with impressive levels of innovation imparted within each and every pair they produce.

We asked seven of active forum members to join a few of our staff in selecting their preferred golf model of sunglasses (here: Golf – Scheyden Precision Eyewear) and to put them through their paces both on and off the course for four weeks. With shapes and lens styles of all sorts starting at $179.99 (Titanium models are $349.99 but were not tested) we saw the testers choose a variety of options.

The feedback throughout the testing was extremely positive, even with the testers who typically never wear sunglasses in their rounds. The recurring theme was that of extreme lightweight builds that allowed the lenses to showcase their impressive clarity. But, so as to not just take our word for it, you can check out the testing thread on the THP Community, here, as well as some quick takes from our testers below.

Thoughts from our Testers
Stryker – forum member from Virginia
“I love my Sheyden CIA Grabbers! They look amazing and are so lightweight I forget I have them on. The performance exceeds all my expectations from cutting out glare and harshness of the sun, being crystal clear, and helping me track the flight of golf balls better than ever.”
Jeff Spicoli – forum member from North Carolina
“The CIA Grabbers are lightweight, comfortable, and the Light Bronze lenses protect my eyes from the sun and have made tracking the ball easier and long rounds in the sun more enjoyable.”
JonD – forum member from Virginia
“The contrast and clarity these lenses provide is excellent. I find tracking the golf ball easier and the CIA Grabbers are extremely comfortable while playing. With other sunglasses I find myself taking them off to swing and putt, but with the Grabbers they just stay on as long as the suns out.”
KiwiChris – forum member from Colorado
“As a long time sunglass wearer for golf, finding a pair that actually helps out on the course has been a struggle until trying the Scheyden glasses. These glasses really do work for golf, unlike other manufacturers claims. Clarity and color are amazing and the fit is super comfortable.”
Mmaynard11 – forum member from Florida
“The Scheyden Looper’s lenses have removed any fear of depth perceptions effecting my golf game. I have been converted from not wearing sunglasses to not heading to the course without them!”
Templet0n – forum member from Nevada
“As someone that did not like wearing sunglasses to play golf previously, these Scheyden sunglasses have completely changed my view.”
MikeG_74 – forum member from Texas
“The performance and clarity both on and off the course have been remarkable. I’ve been truly impressed by the construction, form, and fit of the Looper sunglasses. Having been a longtime consumer of another major sunglass brand, I am now completely converted to the Scheyden camp moving forward.”
This was a fun review and I really enjoyed how THP covered all the styles Scheyden offers. I’ve had non forum members converted by trying on the Loopers and really enjoying the form, fit and overall comfort they provide.
Interesting. Been looking for some new sunglasses to replace 10 year old Oakleys with the pink lenses. Will look into these.
This turned out to be a great forum review. Lots of solid information along the way. Nice job testers.

Really liked these quotes. That thread is fantastic.
Was a fun testing thread. Definitely helps when the product is solid.
Had a chance to try some of the reviewers shades a few weeks ago. Have been contemplating getting a pair and emailed them. Jon was quick to reply and will probably be ordering a pair today.
Really enjoyed the testing of this product! Great job by all the reviewers!
Put these high on my wish list of things to buy this offseason.
Great summary of everyone’s comments. These seems like a great option, in terms and performance and quality, for those looking for some shades for the course.
Great Writeup and I LOVE the quotes.
Next time I am in the market for sunglasses, I will definitely be giving these a look.
I am completely sold on these while playing. I really enjoy them!
This is a great write up! Excellent choice of quotes as well. Following the review thread has had me pondering a pair, but I really like the way Oakleys with Prizm Dark Golf feel. I’m sure I will get a pair at some point though.
Wasn’t an official tester, but all of the feedback in the thread convinced me to try a pair and they’ve been great. Love them so much more than my Oakley Prism Flak and those lenses. Everything is much brighter and more clear without any eye strain.
Loved the reviews. It’s what drove me to buy a pair and now converted to sunglasses on course as much as possible vs never! Haha
It’s been a really fun test. I am wearing my CIA Grabbers off the course as well as on the course. They are super high quality.

It’s hard reviewing things that are subjective like that, but it was fun and it definitely helped that the glasses themselves deliver on the marketing. I thought everyone (hopefully myself included) did a great job. I’ll definitely have more than one pair of these at some point.
This was such a fun product to test. The only sunglasses I wear these days. Matter of fact I have them on now.
I have been thrilled to have the privilege to test these. This is the most exciting product that is golf related but not an actual golf club that I have seen. They really are that good.
I really enjoyed this testing and reviews from the other testers. Very grateful to Scheyden & THP for the opportunity.
I try to get others having a go with my Grabbers any time I can, not sure I’ve had a response that wasn’t positive. I need to get a second pair with the lighter lens option.
The forum reviews were great on this one and tons of good feedback.
I need to get a pair of these.
The forum review was why i got a pair to try! The Scheyden glasses are exceptional quality and on course will be my go to without question. Nice review @Jman!

Okay okay, you win. I’m ordering a set to wait at a certain Uhaul in Houston.

This was an interesting and challenging item to review. Very happy I was selected. It’s an item I would have never purchased but now know it’s something I should have bought myself a while back.
