The Phantom family of putters has become one of the most diverse lineups in the Scotty Cameron catalog. What began as a collection of modern mallet designs has steadily evolved to include a wide range of shapes, sizes, neck configurations, and performance profiles. With the introduction of the new Phantom 3.2 and Phantom 12, Scotty Cameron continues that expansion by adding two models that sit at opposite ends of the spectrum.
One is compact, maneuverable and heavily influenced by successful Tour prototypes. The other is the highest-stability Phantom yet.
Scotty Cameron Phantom 3.2
Of the two additions, the Phantom 3.2 is likely the model that will generate the most discussion. Designed as a compact mid-mallet, the 3.2 combines rounded contours with strong linear alignment features and introduces a plumbers neck configuration that creates moderate toe flow. Scotty Cameron refers to this as a “.2” neck design, giving players an option that bridges the gap between traditional blade characteristics and modern mallet performance.
According to Scotty Cameron Senior Director of Putter R&D Austie Rollinson, the shape pulls inspiration from several notable designs throughout the Cameron lineup.
The face profile traces back to the Red X, the rounded footprint borrows elements from the GOLO family, the T-Crown design comes from the Phantom 9 and the alignment windows were inspired by the classic Kombi series.
The result is a putter aimed squarely at golfers who appreciate the stability of a mallet but are not interested in looking down at a large footprint. That appeal has already translated to professional tours.
The Phantom 3 prototype first appeared on Tour in 2025 and has become increasingly popular among players looking for a compact mallet option. Titleist Brand Ambassador Ryan Gerard used the design during a season that propelled him into the world’s top 50 while earning his first Masters invitation. The shape has also been used in multiple LPGA victories during the 2026 season.
The Phantom 3.2 features a full-face Studio Carbon Steel insert paired with Scotty Cameron’s chain-link face milling pattern, a combination designed to deliver softer sound and feel while maintaining consistent feedback and ball speed.
Scotty Cameron Phantom 12
While the 3.2 focuses on maneuverability, the Phantom 12 heads in the opposite direction. This new model delivers the deepest and lowest center of gravity in the entire Phantom lineup, creating what Scotty Cameron describes as its most stable Phantom design to date.
The Phantom 12 achieves that through a multi-material construction featuring a Space Gray aluminum face and mid-body paired with heavier stainless steel positioned low and around the perimeter. According to Cameron, steel accounts for approximately 65 percent of the total head weight, helping maximize stability and forgiveness.
Its larger footprint, long sight line, T-Crown alignment system and minimal-toe-flow configuration make it a natural fit for golfers seeking confidence and stability on the greens.
The design has already seen validation at the professional level as well. Phantom 12 Tour prototypes first surfaced earlier this year and have since appeared on both the PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour. One of the earliest adopters, a recent LPGA Hall of Fame inductee, famously opened competition with a 12-under-par 60 in her first round using the prototype.
Expanding the Phantom Line
Together, the Phantom 3.2 and Phantom 12 showcase how broad the Phantom family has become. The 3.2 targets players seeking a compact mallet with blade-like characteristics and additional toe flow. The 12 caters to golfers who prioritize maximum stability, forgiveness and alignment assistance.
Both models incorporate the chain-link face milling and construction philosophy found throughout the 2026 Phantom lineup, which was engineered to provide softer sound and feel without sacrificing feedback.
