It’s official: Scotty Cameron has entered the low-torque arena. For years, putter makers like LAB Golf, Odyssey, and TaylorMade have explored how shaft placement and head balance can help golfers quiet the face and simplify the putting stroke. Now, Scotty Cameron brings his take on that concept with the new OC (Onset Center) series, featuring the Phantom 11R OC and Studio Style Fastback OC. These putters blend Cameron’s unmistakable craftsmanship with modern engineering designed to promote a square-to-path stroke and enhanced stability.
For a brand rooted in precision milled performance and Tour validation, the OC models are more than an experiment. They’re a statement. They represent Scotty Cameron’s interpretation of what low-torque can and should feel like when it’s done with balance, feedback, and traditional aesthetics still intact.
What Is “Onset Center”?
The term Onset Center refers to how the shaft enters the head. It’s set slightly behind the leading edge (“onset”) and directly in line with the head’s center of gravity (“center”). This unique placement minimizes torque while keeping the head naturally square through impact. The result is a stroke that feels stable but doesn’t lose that vital connection between the hands and the putter head.

Scotty Cameron’s Senior Director of Putter R&D, Austie Rollinson, summarized the philosophy behind the OC series perfectly:
“It became clear that low-torque putters often come at the cost of feel, so we designed our OC models to minimize face rotation while maintaining responsiveness and feedback.”
This line captures the challenge that has defined the low-torque movement. Many players love the stability but struggle with muted feedback. The OC series addresses that balance head-on.
Scotty Cameron OC Technology
Low-Torque Design
At the heart of the OC concept is the new shaft position. By aligning the shaft with the head’s center of gravity and setting it slightly back from the leading edge, torque is reduced dramatically. This promotes a more neutral face orientation during the stroke and encourages a square-to-square motion without forcing the player to manipulate the putter’s release.

Traditional Feel and Feedback
Scotty Cameron’s trademark feel is preserved through two different face designs. The Phantom 11R OC features a fully milled, chain-link pattern face, while the Studio Style Fastback OC incorporates a Studio Carbon Steel insert with matching chain-link milling. Both faces are tuned to soften sound while maintaining tactile feedback, which is critical for gauging strike quality, especially in putters designed to resist rotation.

Minimal Shaft Lean
The OC series includes just one degree of shaft lean, encouraging a neutral setup with natural hand position. Players who prefer a traditional view at address will appreciate how clean the topline appears. It’s a subtle but important change that helps golfers transition easily from conventional setups.

Custom Fit Ready
Both models allow loft and lie adjustments without compromising the putter’s low-torque geometry. This flexibility makes the OC putters ideal for custom fitting and fine-tuning performance to match a player’s stroke type.
Heavier Head and Matching Shaft

Each OC model features a 15-gram heavier head than standard Scotty Cameron putters, giving the stroke a smoother, more connected rhythm. The heavier head is complemented by a custom black shaft engineered with specific flex properties to match the added weight without dulling feel. Completing the setup is a Matador Mid grip, tapered for comfortable hand placement and consistent grip pressure.
Scotty Cameron OC Models Overview
Phantom 11R OC

The Phantom 11R OC builds on one of Scotty Cameron’s most stable platforms. Its high-MOI, multi-material design pairs a milled stainless-steel frame with precision-engineered aluminum components. The 11R version features softer, rounded edges for a more compact look, a full chain-link milled face, and a single alignment line that extends cleanly to the shaft entry point. For the first time, it’s also available in left-handed configuration.

This model will appeal to players who want the forgiveness and stability of a modern mallet with the square-to-path simplicity of a low-torque setup.
Studio Style Fastback OC

The Studio Style Fastback OC shares the same design DNA as the standard 2025 Fastback, but this model integrates the Onset Center setup and several refinements. The head is milled from 303 stainless steel with a 6061 aircraft aluminum sole plate to optimize weight distribution. The Studio Carbon Steel face insert delivers a softer, responsive feel, while the chain-link milling enhances roll and tactile feedback.

Visually, it’s a familiar Fastback shape but with a new sense of balance. A single sight line adds a clean alignment cue at address, making this mid-mallet an easy fit for golfers transitioning into low-torque designs for the first time.
Specs and Setup
Both the Phantom 11R OC and Studio Style Fastback OC share these specifications:
- Available lengths: 33″, 34″, 35″
- Loft: 3.5°
- Lie angle: 70°
- Shaft lean: 1°
- Dexterity: Right-handed (both models), left-handed (Phantom 11R OC only)
These numbers reflect Scotty Cameron’s attention to setup integrity. Every element is engineered to work harmoniously with the new Onset Center concept.
How OC Fits into the Low-Torque Landscape
The rise of low-torque putters has been one of golf’s most interesting equipment trends. What started as a niche experiment has become a major category, attracting players who want the face to stay square longer without losing feel. Products like LAB Golf’s Lie Angle Balance designs, TaylorMade’s ZT (Zero Torque) Spider Tour Series, and Odyssey’s Square-to-Square models have all shown that golfers are eager to simplify the stroke.
Scotty Cameron’s approach, however, is distinctly his own. Rather than relying on radical shapes or non-traditional shafts, the OC putters retain the classic Scotty look and craftsmanship. They deliver the same precision milling and familiar shapes, only now with a shaft position that encourages that modern, face-stable motion.
This makes the OC models especially appealing to golfers who have been curious about low-torque concepts but hesitant to make a full leap into something unconventional. The Phantom 11R OC and Fastback OC offer a bridge between innovation and tradition.
Scotty Cameron OC Price and Availability
The new Scotty Cameron Phantom 11R OC and Studio Style Fastback OC will be available in golf shops worldwide beginning November 14, 2025, with a minimum advertised price of $549.
For golfers seeking the control and simplicity of a low-torque design without sacrificing the precision milled feel and iconic craftsmanship Scotty Cameron is known for, the OC series delivers exactly that.

Interesting that Odyssey goes forward with the shaft in their latest ZT release and Scotty moves it back.

If you order a 2* shaft lean, does that change the loft from 3.5* ?? Or is it standard regardless?
I have no clue, but think it just lets you decide how much forward press you want to have.
They look like Scotty putters. That’s a win
Options are great. These aren’t for me. Wish whoever they are for enjoys them.
I’m not surprised they went this way, but feels really far behind as others have already had their versions out for quite some time
Interesting. People always like Scotty for the feedback they get and it’s good to see them talk about not affecting that when creating these new putters. Looks like all the new ZT are going out on about the same price point.
this price point is kind of wild, as a Canadian it’s gonna be basically $1000 out the door for an off the rack putter
surely he could’ve come up with a better looking design than that little nub on the fastback.
I like the 11R. I might go to a shop just to test these out. Having a stable putter in a mallet shape from Scotty sounds like a great thing.

The Phantom is the best looking putter I’ve ever seen. I kept waiting for the Spider to offer custom lie angles but evidently they will not. Ordered the Phantom today. See if it can beat it my Cleveland Elite Elevado
I was trying to get more info on the whys of some of the choices around these yesterday and found some but not much.
Everything I could find said that the SC team was trying to maintain feel so they increased weight in both these heads and have these perform and feel like a SC putter. Going to be interesting to hear if that worked when they start making it into peoples hands since feel and using a milled putter have always seemed pretty connected to me.
The one thing that has been sticking for me is that the full chain mill face on the phantom looks way nicer to me then the insert.
Great article and would like to try the phantom for sure. Have a couple of different Scotty putters but I always seem to go back to my 5.5 phantom. It’s brought me the most confidence so far with my putting.
That Fastback is a looker.

Took a while for what seems like a pretty safe release, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
These should be in stores on Friday. Looking forward to hearing some THP’rs thoughts.

For their first iteration, there made sense. Take a head you already have, and modify it to be low torque. It will be interesting to see what original designs come out in following years.

I suspect this “low torque” is just another fad in golf.
Some will stick with it, most will move on in a year or two.

I don’t know. I don’t think it will be the hot thing in golf like it is now, but I feel like it’s popularity will just continue to grow. It will take some time to become really mainstream, but much like how mallet putters are now more and more prevalent on tour and in bags, this low/zero torque putter movement may have legs.

I agree, I think they will stay as an offering in most lines, maybe not as pushed as they are currently, but for straight back putters, they are golden, so I don’t see them going away

I really like the crown logo vs. writing or other stamps.
I like the way it looks on this putter for sure.
I realize its there strictly as a tour ad, but it does look great.
the only thing i am disappointed with these is there isnt a counter balanced option for them. I love my Jailbird Cruiser and really do not want to go back to a standard length putter.
Was looking ordering in the 37in length but not sure if i would have to increase the weights in the bottom to get it counter balanced. Anyone know what the new head weight is for these?
Have a 35” 11r on the way. Because I have issues.
but this is one I am very, very excited for.

I’m intrigued. I’ve liked the phantom faces, but it’ll be hard pressed to beat the Ping. But it’s a nice addition to the collection
I was in the PGASS ready to drop $550 large on the Scotty & they had 1 … just 1. So I ask the guy “did you sell these already in a day?” “We sold 3. They only sent us 4 putters, 2 of each length… 2 – 35″ & 2 – 34″ of each model” me … “4?!?! Thats it??”
Are you serious Clark? “Yeah apparently they are a limited edition run,” me again … “uhhh, not sure that’s correct my friend!” Limited Edition?? No where have I seen or heard that.

So I sucked it up & just rolled a few with a 35″ I like the firm feel and the chain link face

it’s a club arriving day. This is really a good looking putter. The thing that stands out the most compared to some others is it feels so nicely dense. Not too light weight like some.
The feel off the face is just what you expect from Scotty. To me, the new Tri-Hot S2S are rather hollow feeling. This is not that. Great feel. Time to go push this a little more.
Just wish he wouldn’t keep selling these things with crappy Velcro headcovers.
Rolled both models today, and it’s a curious visual – the Fastback did not jive with me at all, and seemed to set up really closed to my eye. They seem really well-balanced, and have the same feel as many other ZT’s out there, but I definitely prefer the look of my traditional style Fastback in comparison. The stock grip wasn’t my favourite, both in shape and texture, but nice to see some differences between the rest of this years releases.

I’m with you on the grip. It’s “fine”, not as trash as the Odyssey stock S2S grip (non tri hot). But I’m already thinking about what to replace it with.
@R-Yang13 one more complaint about the grip. I just spent 90 minutes putting around with this thing to get used to it. And it’s a weird thing to say but the grip smells. Like weirdly. It’s all on my hands. So not only does the grip stink to me, it also literally stinks.
On the other side of this, holy crap this is fun. The acoustics of it to me are so much nicer. It’s got that Scotty sound. It feels great. It’s got enough mass that distance control is really solid. But man. That face is good. It’s addicting to hit.
After having the Evnroll gravity grip put on, I spent about 60 minutes working with my putting. If I complained about the Tri-Hot S2S sound, it’s the opposite of this. It’s super solid sounding and it is a great feel.
a guy warming up for his round had the Fastback (ironically regripped already since he had the same smell complaints) and so we compared the two. But from a weight perspective the Phantom feels better for my tastes.
It’s up there for me for feel and touch. David Dusek from Golfweek said that the Phantom was point and shoot. I’d say that lines up.
Mine shipped today…Hee Haw… 34.5“ Phantom 11r OC. Heavier head, 2 degree shaft lean, 2 degrees flat, Mid Size Scotty grip.
I’m looking forward to getting these in hand. I have used and still have a Newport 2.6. Putt pretty well with it. I like the looks of the Phantom.
I’ve got the 11 OC on the way! Unfortunately, it said 5 weeks delivery. I’m hoping it’s earlier than that. Excited to roll this bad boy!
68* lie to match my LAB Mezz that I was fitted for, albeit, remotely. But at that lie it does sit nice & flat, no toe up, like some of my other putters, especially toe hang putters
I’ve had mine for a couple weeks now. Only been able to roll it indoors, but really like it so far. You can see the specs I ordered above. I like the heavier head. (2 -20g weights). Not sure if I will go with this or stick with the Phantom 9.2r in the spring. Loving both right now.

No she knows. She actually said “I’m not surprised you didn’t order it when it was first released. Why did you wait so long? :ROFLMAO:
Ive been rolling this at a few indoor places. comping it to the Ping I enjoy as well. I’m heading down to Florida for the holidays and will be getting in a fair amount of golf, so both will come to keep looking. Also have a Garsen grip to come in and replace the Gravity grip I’ve been testing so it can be more like for like.
My favorite thing about this one is the feel. It feels…dense? I like a heavier feel in a putter, and for whatever reason this just feels that way. The roll is great. The feel is great. Wish I had more outdoor time here to test, but Florida greens will be a good test.

Set up is different, but not drastic. I can switch back and forth without ill effects. I gamed the 9.2r most of last season and would have no problem jumping to the 11r OC.
Planning to give this a roll in my next fitting – I prefer the feel of the TriHot, but really like the look of the OC. My only complaint is the chainlink insert – I probably need to give it another shot but I remember not really liking it the first time.

One of these will go on to the OC today. The experiment with the gravity grip was fine. But I have just settled that I am a Garsen guy.
The Ultimate has been my grip all year. But I may give the Max a shot first. The Edge was a little throw in that may be a test later on.

I’m more of a milled guy myself, but the TriHot changed my mind in many ways. But definitely want to try this out and see how they perform.
