Two of the Scotty Cameron’s most iconic putter shapes are about to get Xperimental. While we have long known that SC does all of their limited releases in a manner that turns heads with the attention to detail, the Xperimental limited releases certainly kick it up a few notches.
Officially being titles the “2025 Studio Xperimental Limited” line, the goal with this release is to give amateurs the opportunity to snag two tour prototype inspired designs, the legendary Squareback 2 and Fastback 2.
Scotty Cameron Studio Xperimental Limited Putters

By putting a title like “Xperimental” on this release, the Scotty Cameron brand isn’t simply trying to make some random grab at attention. No, this one truly is all about opportunity, specifically making something available to consumers which they otherwise would likely have no chance of experiencing. As Scotty Cameron himself puts it:
“Studio Xperimental is all about sharing with players something special: prototype-inspired setups crafted for those who demand performance and technology with a clean, tour-proven look. With the line’s multi-material design, chain-link face milling, unique alignment features and custom grip and shaft, every element of Studio Xperimental is designed to inspire confidence – from setup to stroke.”
With that in mind however, these are not just some finish slapped on a standard putter design. Both head shapes are multi material designs consisting of a 303 Stainless Steel body and 6061 Aluminum sole configuration. Not only that, the spectacular “chain link” face milling is present on the black nickel SCS face insert, Tour driven dual parallel sight lines, a stunning plumbing neck, and wrapped up with a Steel Gray PVD finish.

When discussing these two putters, Senior Director of Putter R&D Austie Rollinson had this to say:
“With Studio Xperimental Limited, the combination of our SCS face inserts with chain-link face milling really delivers exceptional feel, roll performance and feedback off the putter face. For this release, we also focused on optimizing the putters’ balance with custom graphite shafts that are stiffer and slightly counterbalanced to give players added stability through the stroke.”
The Details

In terms of design, the Scotty Cameron Studio Xperimental Limited Squareback 2 is a mid-mallet setup with, as the name indicates, a much more squared off appearance, for those who like sharp lines. The application of a plumbing neck creates moderate toe-hang, while the shape itself increases MOI compared to a standard blade.

On the other side, the Scotty Cameron Studio Xperimental Limited Fastback 2 marks something extra special, the first time a plumbing neck and this shape have combined in a release to the public. Previously seen in CT setups, this combo blends moderate toe hang with a much more flowing visual shape than its sibling.
Both putters are paired with a premium graphite shaft, classic Scotty Cameron grip, and will be priced at $850 each with a worldwide release on 10/31/25.

Man these look Amazing. They are outside of my budget but I really like that fastback.
Those look amazing. I really like the look of that insert. I wonder why they decided to release it as a plumbers neck in the fastback 2 – if it’s never been done before, was it public demand or just looking to change things up a little bit?
Those look great, that fastback with the plumbers neck is ?
I can appreciate everything but the price. To many good options on the market for that nonsense
That fastback looks amazing.
Ok these look amazing! That fastback! ?
These look great. I’ll take the Squareback. Or the Fastback…
Which premium graphite shaft, I wonder?

I was thinking the same.
Damn just damn
I’m not really a Scotty guy, but these are pretty slick
Would it be too much to ask for a number instead of “moderate” toe hang?
Love that alignment style. Hope we see more of that.

Looks to be in-house, but I’m still curious who is sourcing it.
Yes what @Golf Jones said any one have any clues on who the manufacturer is I found one source that says UST but nothing that I would call super reilable
These look great. I like this red and black color scheme. The red is super subdued.
Look really good – would love to give one a roll if found in the wild but I suspect I’ll not see one.

The local shop down here had those black finished ones they released maybe earlier this year. You might be able to find one

There’s a very specific reason that I don’t visit anything outside of major retail Scoobs– it’s much easier on my wallet.

Honest question, how is it nonsense? With so many options out there, there’s something for everyone’s brackets sure, but it’s not like the SC limited releases have never been at a higher price realm.

IYO, would the inclusion of a graphite shaft be the primary driver for this one being $100 more than the blacked out LE earlier this year?

Sure, that’s likely some, but so too are the shape and neck combos which have been CT only to this point.
I have always loved the SC look, especially in black. But I dont think I have ever realized how much I appreciate a good line of putters named with words instead of numbers lol

Just about $200 out of any rationale price for its function As far as collection pricing it can be whatever someone wants.

For some, sure, for others it’s clearly not though it they wouldn’t sell them.
Yes, some collect, but way more collect and use these types of releases.
That face milling on the inserts is SO good after finally rolling one a couple months back.
I liked the blacked out LE phantom 5 I rolled in the shop last summer, the face felt/sounded great and the grip was much preferred to the stock one
Looks great! For the price I wouldn’t be looking at it but I’m sure they’ll sell out and be on eBay for 3000.

Typically you can find these releases at retail for quite a while before the only option is the secondary market.
The FB has a special place in my heart, and this one ????
Wow, those are definitely good looking putters!
These really do look good.

Leave the wallet at home when you visit.
These do look pretty sweet. Out of my price range though.
Wow are those stunning! that Fastback is something to look at for sure!
Freaking beautiful.
These just aren’t doing it for me, visually.
That fast back though…
@Jman I feel like you might know the answer to my question: is this the first time SC has ever offered a non steel shaft? And do you think the inclusion here is an Austie thing?
That fastback neck on that head is soooooooooo good

I believe it is the first time in a non CT Putter.
That said, I know they’ve been tinkering with some for a long time now, and have some wins out there with graphite in their putters.
Wait, hold on did I just see the price for these, I don’t think I see a reason to start playing Scotty putters again. Thats a pass for mew

It’s a limited release. I don’t know why the price is so surprising when they’ve been doing these types of releases for years.

And the limited releases definitely occupy a space between the general line and CT in my opinion, so priced somewhere between the two makes total sense. Especially if it’s in a finish that isn’t regularly available.
Wow the Xperimental Limited Fastback 2 looks phenomenal

I love the shape, and the color really takes it to the next level. They knocked it out of the park with this release
i did not need it…..but….. the Fastback 2 will be here tomorrow
I’ve ordered every limited release the past 7+ years and gotta say this is the best one so far
The Fastback 2 looks pretty sweet!
These look great!
The Limited Squareback 2 ? I love that shape so much.
