Shot Scope just keeps on innovating. From the start, they have proven that just living on past successes isn’t something that interests them. No, they have kept their focus squarely on providing golfers with devices dedicated to implementing the best distance measurement based technologies and designs to help them improve. While their GPS and shot tracking systems are often the main focus, the brand also understands the fondness that golfers have for rangefinders.
That brings us to the present, and the introduction of Shot Scope’s newest laser rangefinder, the PRO ZR.

Shot Scope PRO ZR Laser Rangefinder
If you have been following THP, then you know we have covered both their PRO LX and PRO L2 rangefinders, and both have been met with a range of positive feedback. However, some felt that there was a level of form and finish which both options lacked. The new PRO ZR certainly appears to be Shot Scope looking to put an end to such thoughts.

The brand is referring to the PRO ZR as their “most robust and rugged” rangefinder yet. Diving into the design and materials involved, that certainly looks to be the case, but it also looks much more refined as well.

Externally, the PRO ZR is made of a DuraShield Hardshell material which looks to not only provide longevity, but resistance to treacherous weather conditions on the course. The ergonomics appear from Shot Scope’s pictures to be more substantial and thought out with its shaping as well as gripping surfaces. Not to mention, the very nice touch of shifting the slope trigger towards the front of the unit makes one wonder why it hasn’t been done before as it visually just makes sense.

Internally, the PRO ZR uses an LCD display with 6x visuals and the ability to choose between black or red optics based upon user preference. The unit has a 1500 yard range and uses Shot Scope’s “Rapid Fire Detection” and target-lock vibration to give as much feedback as possible when ranging a shot. Also, because I know some of you are currently wondering about it, yes, Shot Scope has also utilized a magnet on the PRO ZR so it can be attached as desired.
The Details
Shot Scope is clearly committed to creating the most well-rounded assortment of distance devices that they can, and the PRO ZR looks like a very solid step forward for them in the laser segment. The device will be priced at $299.99. Be sure to keep an eye on THP, as we will have much more on the new PRO ZR, including in-hand feedback, very soon!

These look fantastic, didn’t think they could improve on the other options but here they did again.
Looked but not quite on the website just yet. These release today?

They launch at PGA Show and will be in stores and on their website soon.
It does seem very much more refined than the Pro L2 I’ve been using and yeah, love the magnet integration.
THPers at the last Data Experience will see these and realize that they had some input on what the final design looked like.
Pretty cool to see the style and features align with what THPers were looking for.

You beat me to mentioning this.
We had a product development seminar at the Data Experience and our team really relied on some of the feedback in creating this.
It has a magnet?!!!

This was my biggest complaint with the PRO LX. The placement of the buttons on top made it impossible to find an aftermarket magnetic strap to use that didn’t impede their function. Glad to see Shot Scope listened to feedback.

Really great to be able to remember those slides and then see what the final product resulted in.
Great job ShotScope and the data experience team!!! This looks awesome! Can’t believe there is tech in there from THPers!!!
Very cool to see this release, love the ShotScope range finders I have and I’m sure this one will be stellar as well. As very cool to know that some of our feedback from the 2023 Data Experience was taken into account with this unit, it looks amazing.
The new form looks amazing! I thought the Pro L2 was going to be hard to beat be the Pro ZR has blown it out of the water.

This is pretty fricking cool. I still have my NX7 that I’m using (and it’s running strong) when not using my ShotScope V3. Might be the year for me to upgrade my rangefinder. Oh and this thing looks FANTASTIC!
Looks great! Love to hear about THP’rs having input on a design.
This unit looks like perfection from Shot Scope. The Pro L2 was a great little unit, it worked well and it was quick. I had a few hiccups with the focus ring at times but otherwise it no complaints. The Pro ZR looks like a higher end unit from the photos and its pretty cool at last years data experience we were asked about some of the design features! The magnet is now a must have for me and the addition of red/black visuals is nice and lets not kid ourselves that slope probably isn’t ever getting turned off haha
Love that they continue to refine and improve. This maybe the year my NX7 crashes. Shotscope will be at the top of list when it’s time to buy.
You had me at being able to switch between a black and red display. I want one! Also so cool that THPers had a say in helping with the design!
Pretty awesome THPers helped influence the design – and that is a great looking rangefinder.

It’s a cool feature imo. I’m a big fan of a red display.
299 is a price that has me interested alone.

Giving options are the best! I’d pick red all day but being able to switch back to black if I wanted to is really cool

Ultra competitive..
I know rangefinders probably don’t excite people as much as new tech in a driver or shafts but when you need one hard not to take a look at Shot Scope products. This unit appears to have everything one needs in a rangefinder, not to mention if you find the price offensive (you’d be crazy) they have lesser expensive options that work just as well, literally something for everyone.

From what rangefinders cost at the beginning and what some charge now. 299 seems like a great price.

I 100% agree thats why I said you’d be crazy if you found this price offensive. The last rangefinder I had that had all the features (minus the magnet…which I LOVE) cost nearly $600
Still can’t believe THPers had a say in helping with the final design. Some THPers have good taste lol

Couldn’t have said it better myself. The features and options at the price they bring products in at is outstanding.
I’m still rocking the Pro L1, this one has my interest.
That is a great looking rangefinder. Shotscope is knocking it out of the park. Having a price range for everyone is really smart. My L2 has been flawless,

Man, I continue to be impressed with Shot Scope and LOVE their mentality. Have loved my watch (V3), but I’m thinking it’s time to pass it down to one of my sons and then pick up one of these (and/or the X5)! This looks so solid.

Same. I do like the refinements.
Price point is spot on.
ShotScope products do exactly what they are supposed to.
The tech and capabilities are high quality.
I like it a lot.

I have always been fond of Shot Scope products in the past and that doesn’t look like it will be fading anytime soon. The next edition of range finders from Shot Scope looks stunning and premium! The addition of a magnet is what folks have been asking for awhile now! Great price point!
These ZRs look sweet. Hope to be able to test drive one at the Data experience in May

Its hard to get excited about a laser. The top ones seem to have similar feature sets, etc.
This one took us by surprise. First, because we saw THPers help shape the design that it ended up being. Second, because in hand, it is really really well done.
Metal has a very high quality feel. Its faster than the new Bushnell I tested. Its as fast as the Voice Caddie I was using, that was the best based on sheer speed. Its accurate, has every feature and just flat out works.
And its priced in a way, someone that wants high quality doesnt need to spend double to get there.

The magnet feature is a game changer for us that ride in carts often, I love grabbing it shooting it and knowing exactly what club I need before I exit the cart. It’s very strong and I’ve had no issues with it falling off at any point. Fun fact about the magnet is they had to add that feature specifically for the US market because over seas everyone walks or pushes and the magnet isn’t needed.
Just be careful not to leave on it on the cart when you’re done playing haha.
With GPS I have used a rangefinder less and less but I do have a few times a round where one would be handy. Right now I am not 100% confident the current rangefinder I have is accurate compared to others and I am looking for a new one. I like the looks and feel about this one. Also it’s ShotScope so you know the R&D is there along with the build quality.
How does the LCD work in this? Is it just an overlay on the optics, or is the image projected onto the screen?
