Shot Scope just keeps on innovating. From the start, they have proven that just living on past successes isn’t something that interests them. No, they have kept their focus squarely on providing golfers with devices dedicated to implementing the best distance measurement based technologies and designs to help them improve. While their GPS and shot tracking systems are often the main focus, the brand also understands the fondness that golfers have for rangefinders.
That brings us to the present, and the introduction of Shot Scope’s newest laser rangefinder, the PRO ZR.

Shot Scope PRO ZR Laser Rangefinder
If you have been following THP, then you know we have covered both their PRO LX and PRO L2 rangefinders, and both have been met with a range of positive feedback. However, some felt that there was a level of form and finish which both options lacked. The new PRO ZR certainly appears to be Shot Scope looking to put an end to such thoughts.

The brand is referring to the PRO ZR as their “most robust and rugged” rangefinder yet. Diving into the design and materials involved, that certainly looks to be the case, but it also looks much more refined as well.

Externally, the PRO ZR is made of a DuraShield Hardshell material which looks to not only provide longevity, but resistance to treacherous weather conditions on the course. The ergonomics appear from Shot Scope’s pictures to be more substantial and thought out with its shaping as well as gripping surfaces. Not to mention, the very nice touch of shifting the slope trigger towards the front of the unit makes one wonder why it hasn’t been done before as it visually just makes sense.

Internally, the PRO ZR uses an LCD display with 6x visuals and the ability to choose between black or red optics based upon user preference. The unit has a 1500 yard range and uses Shot Scope’s “Rapid Fire Detection” and target-lock vibration to give as much feedback as possible when ranging a shot. Also, because I know some of you are currently wondering about it, yes, Shot Scope has also utilized a magnet on the PRO ZR so it can be attached as desired.
The Details
Shot Scope is clearly committed to creating the most well-rounded assortment of distance devices that they can, and the PRO ZR looks like a very solid step forward for them in the laser segment. The device will be priced at $299.99. Be sure to keep an eye on THP, as we will have much more on the new PRO ZR, including in-hand feedback, very soon!

After the golf gods decided it was time for my rangefinder to be lost in the heather when we carried Ballyhack, this is now what’s in the bag. Can’t wait to give feedback on it, but MAN is it fast.
I know the red display is getting all the love, but the black was really crisp on a bluebird day over the weekend.
And yeah, this thing is still fast.
Used for the first time today…..Wow Wow Wow. First hole i could just make out the flag as lots of trees behind it,picked it up immediately 167 yards.
Cannot believe how quick this thing is,used slope as just a fun few holes and it was on the money.
Cracking bit of kit.

It’s sooo quick and durable. I have unfortunately tested the durability of it way too many times already.
Yeah i did drop it but luckily only from less than a foot, proper butter fingers moment. No harm done thankfully

My buddy knocked it off the cart today onto the path, and it is no worse for wear. it is a very solid piece of equipment.
I also didn’t catch what brand my cartmate was using today but every single time when we ended up both shooting the pin, I was the winner.

And yes @JB, we were both shooting the pin on a handful of locations, but I was just enjoying the game of always beating him to the punch, knowing that I had the fastest rangefinder. Gave me something to do while the jokers in front of us would walk back-and-forth to their cart three times before hitting their shot ????

It’s so true. It is so much faster than most out there
Tried mine this week. Works well. First time using a rangefinder.
I have been using mine exclusively with the red color. I’m a fan, however I did notice something odd playing in dusk conditions recently where I could almost see a red halo around the outside of the view finder. Thought that was a bit odd. Anyways the laser still performed well even in darker conditions. Its my favorite laser rangefinder I’ve used to date.
Oh also just noticed the other night I got the battery low indicator. At least it appears to work, the last non Shot Scope range finder I had the battery would just die.
How’s the red been holding up for everyone? Been having a bit of glare showing up as of late but the black readout is perfect.

The halo has been steadily progressing a little worse for me. Played till dark one night and I couldn’t see beyond that halo as the glare was getting pretty bad that late.

Is it glare or a focus thing?

Glare
Not a great experience yesterday. I pick up the RF and it has a battery low flashing icon. Ended up not using it the entire round. I get home and try it, and everything is fine. No flashing battery icon. I have very little luck with Shot Scope products.

The unit will last a considerably long time with that (at 15 rounds). Does it normally come up as you are holding the trigger down scanning?

Yup noticed the low battery indicator and then it died in my last round. I used to carry an extra battery but since have taken it out of the bag. Looks like they are going back in.
I am glad this Shot Scope used the standard CR battery instead of the LX I had that used a different battery that they don’t sell in pro shops.

This was only the second time I used it, so I have limited experience. But when I held down the button that is when I saw the flashing icon.

I’ve had that happen quite a bit but I’m through probably 30 rounds and it hasn’t stopped. I carry a extra in the bag in case but so far no issue of the battery actually dying mid round.

I have used mine for 4 rounds with the low battery indicator on because I keep forgetting I need a battery LOL

It happened on both of the units I’ve had at some point and they last awhile like that.
Used this in a charity scramble and one of my teammates is buying one now. They were struggling to get readings with their Rangefinder and couldn’t believe how quick this one was at picking up yardages
PSA: In case you need to measure 40 yards for a fantasy football draft related exercise, this will tell you exactly how far you need to stand from your neighbors mailbox to get the distance correct.
I’m still playing the VC TL1 after the review JMAN and the glowing recommendations of JB. So far, I’m happy, its fast, clear and accurate, a lot more than the Bushnell I gave to my son-in-law. Can’t see why I would upgrade to the Pro/ZR.

I agree its really good. Now I just need to remember to go buy a battery! LOL Last time out it died on me and was kind of lost a bit without having it available

I have gone through one but it didn’t ‘die’ just had a low battery indicator – I will say it seemed that I got that indication quicker than I would have expected, so something I will monitor moving forward.
Hoping the provided battery just sucked

Think with a more premium battery it’ll last a bit longer.
Yesterday I pulled my bag out of car and started walking when hear a loud thud behind me right on the parking lot pavement, I thought I dropped my speaker but nope there laid my Pro ZR. However I’m happy to report it still works just fine 🙂
I was showing this laser to the GM at GrayBull and he was enamored by it. Speed and optics had him hooked.

Speeds top notch, how’s the red holding up especially in the early morning rounds? Mine glares a bit the less light there is.

Time and time again I have had golfers ask how much different a Rangefinder can be. I toss them my Pro ZR and their first comment is how solid it feels / the weight of it. Then they use it and are shocked at how quick it locks on. The only issue I’ve had was on a very foggy morning and all the Rangefinders were struggling. (Fortunately I just used the numbers from my x5 watch until it cleared)

I have not had a single issue and honestly at GrayBull those first 5 holes the sun is booming right into your face.

When I dropped mine I think I flicked off a small spec of the optics. I barely notice it but it is not completely foolproof.
Know they’re tough as @AuzzieMatt hit a punch 5i into his and it still worked after the fact, even after falling off the cart and rolling down a hill.

wow…
Fortunately @Junkyard found the slope button and pushed it back on. Yeah, the slope button went flying into the grass too. great at the range yesterday.
I’ve really enjoyed this one so far, it’s been a really pleasant experience, and I continue to love the weight of it

sorry for your loss (and still thank you for the rec)
Pulled this to verify some distances at the range yesterday. Still loving the heft and the speed.
Speed is outstanding on these. Fine myself using the black reading as of late as it seems clearer.
I just wanted to hop in and say I’m still really enjoying this one. I don’t think the weight and durability gets talked about enough with it, its not only a fast rangefinder, but its got a substantial feel to it which I definitely prefer.
