Each year the same courses are represented on the PGA Tour. Players have favorites, some even get both a regular tour stop and are in the rotation for major championships.
We have both public and private alike on the PGA Tour schedule. What we do not have is a changing landscape that comes from variety. Part of that is the lack of courses that can support this type of endeavor and of course having a fan base large enough.
With that said, should we get more variety? Make some events feature a rotation? Are there courses you are sure would be great and never get noticed or a shot?

Without being accused of being political I would like the PGAT, PGA and DPWT to play some Trump courses.

Those courses seem to be reserved for LIV events.

I’m sure LIV doesn’t have a monopoly on them. The course in Ireland is most beautiful.
Went through the PGA schedule for next year and I’d say at least a half dozen courses could easily be swapped around (no significant history that I’m aware of). A lot of the schedule, especially early in the year, play at iconic venues that I’m not sure would make sense to switch away from.

Have played all 4 of Trumps courses in Ireland and Scotland and while all are quite nice the Irish is 3rd best of the 4. And a 5th is coming this summer in Scotland.

Maybe a bit harsh. TPC River Highlands closes for member play a week before the Travelers and opens up for member play the Monday after the tournament. But the club is rewarded handsomely for it.
I’m also guessing that most clubs don’t have the infrastructure to hold a PGA Tournament. It takes a lot.

Somewhat true. But Travelers/GHO has over 40 years of practice perfecting their management. I marshalled at both GHO at Wethersfield and at TPC. Good times.
Yes, but I would think the major tournament sponsors have a huge say about location location location. I would be nice.
The US OPEN rotation is absolutely boring and awful. I will probably skip several of the Pinehurst re-runs. It’s good as an occasional open course but with like 20 years between. Not such a great one to begin with. Would like to see so many but my personal want is a return to the ultra successful (and now “fixed” Chambers Bay).
Tell you what I’d love to see. Remember the old BMX movie Rad? They built an insane track for them to race on called “Hell Track”. It would be awesome to see 3 courses built specifically for PGA Tour Events. Long and difficult. Designed to challenge the world’s best players and every part of their game. Designed to maximize patrons experience while attending. If it was made well enough each course could even have a variety of tee boxes ect that would allow it to be played several times a year with different configurations. Three “3 in 1” types of courses. Imagine getting to play there as amateurs as well. There is plenty of unused land in the south to do this.
It’s a crazy idea but how cool would that be?!?
I would love to see more of the major courses in the regular rotation. Obviously not Augusta but would be nice if a handful of events each rotated between a different set of 3 courses that have previously held a major. So many good courses out there that can handle it but only get the spotlight every 10+ yeRs

Honestly this is a pretty cool idea though I feel like these would end up as more TPC courses

I think that was somewhat the intention of the tour when they built these but considering how these courses get dominated by current players it’s time for something else. I’m talking no Par 3s under 250 yards. No Par 4s under 450. No Par 5s under 600. Quality long iron shots would be at a premium. Water on all 18 holes. Penalizing rough. Hard and fast green complexes. Courses where even Par is a good score. Short of a handful of US Opens (maybe) this no longer exists. I want tour players to fear being embarrassed on these courses. To fear being exposed.
But hey that’s just me.

The players want nothing to do with this. The egos are so frail that they get mad if bunker sand is not perfect even though bunkers should be “hazards!!

I agree but for the most part the golf played on them is very uninspiring other than maybe Sawgrass
