Spotless Swing Golf Towel Review

The Hackers Paradise receives a lot of interesting products to review and some are new and innovative and some just do not hold up against the competition. One of the products that arrived at our offices over the last few weeks was a golf towel called the Spotless Swing and it was a product that intrigued us quite bit. Could a golf towel make a difference on the golf course? We will let the readers be the judge of that, but our early impressions are that this small accessory could in fact be a keeper.

From the Company
Spotless Swing – three golf towels in one!
The inside protects and preserves your golf clubs by removing dirt, mud and water!
The outside keeps your hands, face, gloves and grips clean and dry!
NEW revolutionary MicroBrush fabric cleans club grooves effortlessly preparing the club for its next shot! The main body of the towel is made with durable microfiber fabric which absorbs over 600% of its weight in dirt, grime and water.

Proprietary MicroBrush fabric cleans grooves for optimal club performance, increased distance, accuracy and backspin. The coarseness of the textured fabric is tough enough to reach deep into club grooves and remove dirt and debris yet soft enough to not damage the club finish.
MicroBrush is found exclusively on the Spotless Swing golf towel.

Durable Microfiber Fabric
Spotless Swing is constructed of the highest quality microfiber known today. Our revolutionary high-performance fabric is a blend of 80% polyester and 20% polyamide. The weave and split of the fibers are woven and split in such a way that creates microscopic hooks that attract and hold dirt, water, mud and grime like a powerful magnet.

Microfiber is a cutting edge technology in the textile industry. It is 100 times finer than a human hair, 40 times finer than wool, 30 times finer than cotton fibers, 10 times finer than silk, yet incredibly durable and soft. The improved technology of our microfiber makes it possible to manufacture a textile with over 90,000 fibers per square inch. The manufacturing process creates a fiber with a diameter of less than one denier (a denier is defined as a unit of fineness found in yarn measurements, equal to the fineness of a yarn weighing one gram, for each 9000 meters).

With a thinner fiber, more are used to generate the fabric. More fibers result in a greater surface area thus increasing absorbency and cleaning power. This material absorbs up to 600% of its weight in liquids, dirt, and other elements. The cleaning and absorption properties of our quality microfiber are nothing less than exceptional.

Microfiber is environmentally safe and hypoallergenic. It is mechanically split without the use of additives, chemicals, or boiling; ensuring that Spotless Swing™ products are safe for both you and your family.

Looks & 1st Impression
THP received a sample of 4-5 of these towels to try out and let some local golfers try out as well. They come in both black and red and when unpackaged they look more like an odd headcover than a towel. The towel is cylinder shaped with an opening at the bottom and a hook on the top. Two things stood out to us immediately and those were:

1. The hook is made of a nice, strong, thick metal that hinges and unhinges quite easily. No small little wire hook that breaks or rips through the towel in 2 weeks.
2. The hook is connected to an extra tab on the back so nothing will rip through the towel and render it useless and ruined.

These two things made a statement about innovation and quality and we wish more companies would look into incorporating small design features like this because in the end it only helps the consumers. The obvious part of the towel is that the Spotless Swing will keep your clubs clean through the round via different textures in the towel itself. Part of the inside of the towel is extremely course and rough and is obviously to clean the grooves (more on that in testing). But our overall first impressions were quite good and we like what we saw. One thing to note, as mentioned above, the towel is only available in black and red. We would definitely like to see a few other colors added to this for matching with golf bags.

Does it Work
THP had 5 different golfers test the Spotless Swing Golf Towel over the course of 5 range sessions and 4 rounds golf. What we found out is that the gadget works as advertised. The rough texture on the inside of the towel brushes dirt away the same way a wire brush does, and that no caked on dirt is too dry or hard for the towel to tackle. I preferred it over a wire brush because less scratches were were being made. The towel’s soft section is used perfectly to dry hands and or water from clubs and did so without getting the dirt all over you. The only negative wee saw at all is that on very wet or muddy days, that towel interior can get pretty filthy and the water (dirty) does come through to the outside rather than staying inside. We are not sure what could be done to keep this from happening as it is no different than any other towel we have used in that aspect.

Most of the golfers that tested this out normally use what we call the two towel approach. One to clean the clubs, that is wet, and one that is dry to use for drying off and wiping hands. Nothing wrong with this approach and it works quite well. Our testers did prefer only having one towel and though the rougher interior of this product worked better than that of a regular wet towel. Whatever your preference is, keeping your grooves clean will help you hit the ball better especially out of rough lies.

After thorough testing from all of the golfers THP believes that Spotless Swing has a winner on their hands. It is nice to see a company advertise a product and have it live up to the hype. We would like to see it available in more colors and if we had any complaint at all, it would be that the towel itself is rather thin, but it works well and our clubs stayed clean and that is what matters. Will it change the golfers that tested it from the two towel approach? 3 out of the 5 said that they liked this one more and the other 2 had nothing bad to say about the product, they were just stuck in their ways.

Overall
The Spotless Swing golf towel is a great accessory to consider especially if you are somebody that finishes the round with messy clubs. Did we score better with the towel? No we did not, but we felt better about the fact that the grooves of the clubs were clean and that I was using one accessory to do it rather than a brush, a wet towel, and a hand towel. The company feels so strongly about the product that they guarantee you will like it or your money back. The cost of the towel is about $20 and THP feels that is right in line with where it should be. For more information on this product, check out their website at www.spotlessswing.com.
