Last year I gave everyone a preview of the 2009 Spring/Summer line by PUMA. After anxiously waiting the time has finally come and I have officially had the chance to try out the new gear. I saw the press shots, I got a sneak preview at the PGA Merchandise show, but nothing is as exciting as getting those threads in your hands for testing. So without further ado here are two stellar outfits from PUMA.
When the box arrived at The Hackers Paradise office I was thrilled to see two great polos, a skort, and a pair of capris. The first outfit is a white cat logo embroidery Jacquard polo paired with a turquoise skort. The first item that jumped out at me was the turquoise skort, I was in love with the color. This is a simple solid color skort that both looks and feels great and has a small Puma on the front left portion of the skort. It is 97% cotton and completely machine washable, and holds up very well after several washes. I have worn this skort for three rounds and several range sessions and I swear it gets more comfortable with every wear. In my experience I have found PUMA skorts to run a little large, so I would recommend looking into going one size down.
To complete the first outfit they sent us a white textured polo. On the left breast is the same Puma found on the above mentioned skort. On the back you will find their signature PUMA Golf 18 hole logo in metallic silver. Instead of a button down lapel this has a zipper, which I really liked. I love being able to control how much skin is showing, and I know for the larger busted ladies this can be extremely useful. I wasn’t sure about the texture of the polo at first but once I put it all on my worries went away. This is a stretch polo so it moves when you do which is great for your golf game. The turquoise color in the skort pairs so nicely with the white top and creates the perfect spring outfit for hitting the links. I will note that the arms are slightly fitted so depending on your body type you might want to consider ordering a size up.
The second outfit we received also had great bright colors. This time in stead of colorful bottoms we got a pair of white capris and a gorgeous pink polo. I have mentioned before that I am barely 5’0†so I tend to have trouble finding capris that don’t look like pants on me. I was in luck, these PUMA bottoms were the perfect length and extremely comfortable. Instead of being a plain pair of white capris these have the 18 hole design all over them to really make them stand out. You will also find the small Puma logo on the front left pocket. These pants are a snug fit on your lefts so if you are more of a pear shape, where your bottom half is a bit larger than your top half, these might (and I stress might) not be for you. Instead I would recommend the skort which is flattering to any figure. The perfect companion to these white pants is the bright pink polo PUMA sent with them.
As many know I love pink and this great PUMA polo is no exception. If you are are looking for something flirty and fun for the golf course this is definitely the top for you. The sleeves are slightly pleated and so is the back of the shirt to really give it a feminine feel. This may sound funny but my favorite part of the top are the buttons. They are also pink and have a shiny pearl finish to them and I feel as though they add a little extra dimension to the polo. The sleeves also feature these great pink buttons for another bright element to this simple yet sexy shirt. As all the other items mentioned there is the Puma logo on the front left breast. This is another great outfit that is bright and brilliant and screams summertime.
For me there is nothing better than a colorful outfit on the golf course during the warmer months. PUMA definitely delivered this season with great colors, fabrics, and patterns. I was also very impressed with the price point of these items, they range anywhere from $55 to $65 USD, which I find to be right in line with other brands of this quality. I absolutely adore that pink shirt. The extended buttons make it different than what I have seen before. Good review.
I googled puma golf stuff and it brought me here. I like what I see in this. Its about time us girls get the same press as the men.
Love the stuff. It looks so vibrant and fun.
I really found out about puma golf from reading your pga show coverage and thought you guys had the best stuff on fashion anywhere that I could find. Especially ladies fashion. I love the new stuff and cannot wait to hear more.
Will you be reviewing the ladies shoes as well?
Great review, GG. Seriously, I thought your writing was top notch! Anyway, it’s hard not to love Puma fashion. I too am surprised by the prices — I generally had this idea that Puma was out of reach, but these prices seem competitive in light of the quality and style level.
Wondering about the skort. Do they have pockets? That’s one thing Jaqcqui notices, she likes to wear skorts golfing but they gotta have pockets and most she runs across are lacking those. The color is great but there wasn’t a real good picture of just the skort.
I have been looking in Puma stores for their skorts, but have yet to find one. I like your review for them so I might just have to buy online.
