Divide.
The Dictionary defines it three ways:
- To separate into two or more parts, areas, or groups
- To separate into portions and give out shares
- To cause to be separate, distinct, or apart from one another
Honestly, it is a word that is intertwined with the serious, and oft over-serious nature of the world we live in today. Thankfully though, Srixon Golf is taking the word and applying it to a much more entertaining thing…golf balls.
In a move that will undoubtedly provide a lot of discussion among golfers, Srixon is bringing back the two-tone golf ball. Say hello to the Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE.
Enter the Srixon Divide
Yes, let’s get right to it. Look at that cover.
While those who have been around the game for a few decades may be immediately taken back to the design of a company from yesteryear, many are surely left going, ‘woah’.
Not only is the Srixon Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE a two-tone golf ball, but it is also a two-tone matte finished golf ball with one half red and the other yellow. More than that, the company is quick to point out that this is not a painted-on finish, both colors are infused into the new thermoplastic urethane cover of the DIVIDE ensuring both durability and consistency.
Why two-tone? Well, to make spin visible for golfers, particularly in the short game. The nature of the dual colors means golfers will be able to witness the spin of their pitch and chip shots and get visual feedback from that in practice and on the course. Additionally, when it comes to putting, the dual colors offer an alignment aid one direction, and a check on the forward roll (or lack thereof) when set up in the other direction. What some may not realize is those classic golf balls that used this look are still in the practice bags of many golfers, and now they can get that same practice effect with a modern golf ball that can be taken to the course.
Internally, the DIVIDE is the same performance driven golf ball of the standard Q-STAR TOUR. It offers the same FastLayer Core and 338 dimple pattern that creates the wide range of playability that the non-DIVIDE version does. It remains a 3-piece urethane golf ball which has a 72-compression rating and is aimed at 75 MPH and up players offering a Mid-High launch and High greenside spin.
The DIVIDE will hit stores on 4/15/21 and carry a $32.99 price point.
What do you think about the Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE from Srixon? Is it something you plan on giving a try? Is it too far out of your wheelhouse? Jump into the discussion below and on the THP Community and let us know!
while it might have been a bit more visible in flight to ease tracking, there was at least one MAJOR flaw. They made one in Green/White. Once in the air it was certainly easy to follow. And you could follow as it rolled while it essentially flashed as it rolled. Except you had a 50/50 chance of finding it. White side up? Piece of cake. Green side up? No chance. Maybe if you were playing on dormant Bermuda, but on a nice green fairway?
Oh now you’re killing me.
Color choices in the premium segment were not only not a thing, but not accepted. As time has gone on, more have embraced. Srixon was the first to bring yellow to the premium ball market and it has definitely caught on.
I’m concerned that my current gamer’s are being discontinued. If these compare favorably I might use the Divide for tournament play.
Putting practice with these would be amazing!!
I’m also curious on how they might help off the tee. I’ve been trying to shift my driver angle of attack up and having the ability to show that on a tee is intriguing.

That ball looks better with every photo I see!
Fit wise, I lost a little off the tee but that’s always me with the Q’s. Put this two tone finish on some Z’s……
Shows how fit matters too. Because for me, they reduce spin off the tee and help my overall carry distance.
Similar to the way RX and Chrome Soft do.
Exactly! And it’s why we have always been so passionate about ball fitting, it truly matters!
I will say on all 3 versions 1/2 is yellow. The other 1/2 is Red, Orange or Blue.
I would be interested in trying the blue and yellow version since those were my school colors but I’ve not had good experience trying to play with blue balls before. (insert 12 year old laugh)
I too read about the Divide (can’t remember where, but not the retailer you saw them) coming in two other colors (aside from the yellow/red). You’re right, the Srixon website does kinda gives it away as well. I can’t remember where I read it but I think the orange and blue colors are coming out later. I’m sure I’ll end up getting all three Divide colors.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did come out later since nobody seems to be talking about the other colors. It’s not like colors should be a secret but they certainly seem to be playing up the red and yellow ones. It must be that those will be the only ones available at launch.
Definitely picking up a box of the Divide after the 15th.
QST is a real solid ball choice. That’s why I’m glad they did the divide in that model.
It’s a great golf ball for the majority of golfers, that’s for sure, a smart decision by Srixon.
Yup. Most will not be sacrificing a ton of performance to give these a go if they wanted to. As much as I enjoy soft feel as a two-piece ball, QST has more opportunity to grab a wider demo of golfers.
And at a killer price point for a urethane ball

Same! Picking mine up Saturday most likely and hitting the course on Sunday. Pretty excited about these! Gonna jump in with 1 dozen for now and then jump all over their BOGO Father’s Day sale if/when I fall in love with them.

What? There are MORE?
Happy Divide day indeed – I’m in on this one. Need to find time to swing by the golf store.

I have found hints of Orange and Blue buried on Srixon’s website under the Technology tab. Seems odd that only the Red has really been featured for release.

I truly hope in the live round thread we see you rolling one into a hole at some point. I mean you gotta at least one round..
Deal. Whole round? Fuggetaboutit. There’s a line on that there ball..
At least a 9… Ya have to!! Take one for the team.. You can just turn it to one solid color or the other..
So what you’re saying is grab some on my way there right now…
I think I have time..
Interesting price point. Not really my bag, so I don’t have a lot of reference, but over 35 for a matte ball . Few dollars worth of color fun?
Consider it under $40 for a urethane ball instead.
That’s a hard sell. Should be fun though. And get me a couple odd looks.
