Divide.
The Dictionary defines it three ways:
- To separate into two or more parts, areas, or groups
- To separate into portions and give out shares
- To cause to be separate, distinct, or apart from one another
Honestly, it is a word that is intertwined with the serious, and oft over-serious nature of the world we live in today. Thankfully though, Srixon Golf is taking the word and applying it to a much more entertaining thing…golf balls.
In a move that will undoubtedly provide a lot of discussion among golfers, Srixon is bringing back the two-tone golf ball. Say hello to the Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE.
Enter the Srixon Divide
Yes, let’s get right to it. Look at that cover.
While those who have been around the game for a few decades may be immediately taken back to the design of a company from yesteryear, many are surely left going, ‘woah’.
Not only is the Srixon Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE a two-tone golf ball, but it is also a two-tone matte finished golf ball with one half red and the other yellow. More than that, the company is quick to point out that this is not a painted-on finish, both colors are infused into the new thermoplastic urethane cover of the DIVIDE ensuring both durability and consistency.
Why two-tone? Well, to make spin visible for golfers, particularly in the short game. The nature of the dual colors means golfers will be able to witness the spin of their pitch and chip shots and get visual feedback from that in practice and on the course. Additionally, when it comes to putting, the dual colors offer an alignment aid one direction, and a check on the forward roll (or lack thereof) when set up in the other direction. What some may not realize is those classic golf balls that used this look are still in the practice bags of many golfers, and now they can get that same practice effect with a modern golf ball that can be taken to the course.
Internally, the DIVIDE is the same performance driven golf ball of the standard Q-STAR TOUR. It offers the same FastLayer Core and 338 dimple pattern that creates the wide range of playability that the non-DIVIDE version does. It remains a 3-piece urethane golf ball which has a 72-compression rating and is aimed at 75 MPH and up players offering a Mid-High launch and High greenside spin.
The DIVIDE will hit stores on 4/15/21 and carry a $32.99 price point.
What do you think about the Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE from Srixon? Is it something you plan on giving a try? Is it too far out of your wheelhouse? Jump into the discussion below and on the THP Community and let us know!
I received 5+ dozen for fathers day so I think I am good for the rest of the year.
I love putting with these balls they make it easy to see if you hit it correctly.
I agree they seem to get dirty quick but that seems to be the problem with Matte balls in general.
I also usually tee the ball with 1 color showing. I think the Yellow go farther!
I too like the spin around the greens, it’s mesmerizing how different I hit the ball from green to green. Just shows my inadequacies with chipping
That’s good to know. It also makes it likely that I will stick with the red and yellow.
Might have to pick some up as used or lost golf balls.
I like the performance of the Q-Star Tour yellow I’ve been using lately so I decided to put the Divide in play for tomorrow’s league tournament.
Very easy to see off the tee and track thru the air. Didn’t have any issues finding it in the rough the few times I was there.
Good on approach shots and around the green.
My only complaint is the this Q-Star tour is still hot/clicky off the putter for me, always has been and why I moved away from it. Just cannot get comfortable with the feel of the ball.
Interesting, I found the Q Stars to be clicky but don’t find these to be at all.
I will give these a few rounds and see if I can adjust to them. They have better spin around the green than the soft feel and that is a big plus.
Great overall performance, which is to be expected from the Q-Star Tour family of balls.
My only knock is even though they look like a fishing bobber, they don’t float.
Echoing others’ sentiments – saw the yellow blue as well and the blue looks impossible to see – especially since it’s so smokey up here.
I will stick with my yellow reds.
right? fun ball to put in play

I mainly bought the divide for the putting green, but I really just couldn’t get them lined up well. Every time I thought the divide was pointing 6 inches or so outside the hole it was actually right at the hole and I missed the putt.
That said they look pretty cool when pitching and chipping around the green, it goes from a bobber to looking more like a lure reflecting light in all different directions.
Will have to put a couple of selves aside just for putting pratice.
If anything Ping triggered the release of the Srixon Divide.
On the one hand sure, but since Ping stopped doing them before the turn of the century (I think), can we really say that?
Yeah of course Ping did two-tone first. I meant triggered the re-release I guess? Ping hasn’t done anything with balls for years (that I can remember). Now less than a year after Divides come out Ping sends everyone a reminder they did two-tone long ago with these practice balls.
I already ordered some Ping practice balls just for fun ?
Yes… Ping was the first to do it… it was their idea.
It doesn’t matter if Ping stopped making golf balls years ago… they were the first to do it… it was their original idea. Srixon and possibly others in the near or distant future will have copied Ping’s original idea. What do people not understand ???
I get that – so anytime a new car comes out, we should thank Ford? And I assume that Tesla thanks GM everytime they sell an electric car? C’mon, yea Ping did it first – I think nearly everyone (certainly everyone here does). But they stopped making balls let alone 2 tone balls years ago – before most people on this site ever hit a golf ball. So, yea, I think it’s fair that Ping is remembered, but I think we can thank Srixon for making a playable version .
Ping did not invent the golf ball. Ping was the first with the two-tone golf ball… call it divide it you wish.
Must be the need to be right generation.
I enjoy it immensely around and on the green. I like seeing it spin on greenside shots and when rolling on the green. I’m going to play it in my round tomorrow.
It does spin well. Played on some hard-ish greens, and it still had stopping power.
Agreed. All of my approach shots yesterday, including 5i and 7i, were within a foot of the ball mark.
I airmailed a green yesterday with my 7i (center face, wtf?) and my ball was sitting in front of a ball sized impression in the 4" rough.
I got some through Dick’s/Golf Galaxy.
Should be easy to see those unless in the leaves.

Those are the ones I want to try. The Yellow and Red isn’t for me. I’d like to see yellow and the green.
Maybe next time. My play was ? yesterday.
