Srixon golf already enjoys a deep catalog of golf balls. Golfers can find Soft Feel, Q-Star, Q-Star Tour, and two different Z-Star models within their stable. Today, Srixon adds one more variant to their premium tier with the release of the new Z-Star Diamond.
“By working closely with our global Tour staff, we created the Z-STAR DIAMOND ball as an enhancement to our premium Tour lineup,” said Jeff Brunski, Vice President of Research and Development at Srixon. “The Z-STAR DIAMOND ball is something of a best-of-both-worlds type product, blending many of the benefits of our two current models. Like the Z-STAR XV, the Z-STAR DIAMOND produces really good ball speed and distance. But thanks to a slightly thicker cover, the Z- STAR DIAMOND features exceptional spin and control on approach shots.”
Z-Star is the top dog in golf balls in the Srixon lineup, so adding anything to that range better have top-of-the-line construction. Those ingredients that make up Z-Star Diamond start with a FastLayer Core, which starts soft on the inner portion and gradually firms up as we approach the outer layer. Those core conditions will help produce a fast golf ball and one that will also have that enhanced feel.
SpinSkin with SeRM has become a staple of Srixon’s tour-quality golf balls. These covers have proven durable and help generate plenty of spin on approach shots. According to Srixon, maximizing spin will help lead to more control and stopping power. Also present is the 338 Speed Dimple Pattern, which will help provide a consistent ball flight, especially on those windy days.
After all of that, the biggest question for golfers is where does it truly fit? From a simplistic view, Z-Star is billed as the golf ball that offers control and exceptional short game spin, whereas the Z-Star XV packs a little higher compression, spins less, and is the faster of the two golf balls. Z-Star Diamond offers those impressive ball speeds while still bringing in the type of control that those who play the normal Z-Star come to expect. Diamond will expand on the Z-Star control by delivering increased spin to those long and mid-iron shots.
“Z-STAR DIAMOND has been a very popular model with our PGA Tour staff, and the Z- STAR DIAMOND should definitely be considered by the higher-swing-speed, better player looking for the best performance available,” Brunski said.
Z-Star Diamond is the latest addition to the Srixon’s top-tier ball family. This is expected to be a popular golf ball out on tour, so expect to see plenty of talk about it in the near future. Have you put any of the previous Srixon golf balls in play? If so, Does the Diamond appeal to you?

Hope is a powerful elixir, ha ha.
Supply chain issues suck.. I prefer a yellow ball as well. Having it but not having any stock and not having it at all are really the same thing. I spoke to a srixon rep Monday the diamonds are gone. What is on the shelves, or storerooms is what there will be till essentially the end of the year. If you like the ball, go pick up a few more dozens.
I saw a stack in my local store yesterday. Maybe I should go grab them and they will become an appreciating asset due to scarcity.
Aging sucks more than supply chain issues. I really like to see my ball flight when it is hazy, LOL.
Yeah, they were gone FAST. Noelle had said they were totally sold out last month. From Srixon at least. What’s out there is all there is. If you like them, get what you can.
If you want to donate some sleeves…I’d like to try that ball out ?
I’ll have to check, but I might have some regular Z-Star’s to trade
How would you compare driver and full iron distance between the Diamond and standard Z Star?
I saw the spin-up thing into the wind in full effect the other day. It is a really good ball but I think wind may be a bit of an Achilles heel.
They are not sold out here..
I think it fits the player that likes/wants a high compression high spin ball. It will come down to preferences from there.
I don’t think mortal or not has much to do with it. It’s for people that like XV but want a little more spin or for it not to feel like a rock.
I just meant jokingly that I know Koepka plays it (although he hasn’t been on the leader board much since he put in play. Is he still on the Tour?).
Do you think that the Diamond generates similar ball speeds as the XV on driver and full swing irons? There aren’t many balls that go farther off driver for me than the XV.
XV is WAY up there on driver speed imo. I haven’t played everything, but it’s gotta be up there near the top compared to others. It comes at a cost though. It’s not great around the greens. And I’ve never found it to be as spectacular on irons as it is off driver. Good, but not a standout in the same way. So I think the Diamond probably lags a bit behind it with driver and kind of equals off at some point in the irons for me. I haven’t done exact side by sides on all of it though. I haven’t actually hit the XV on monitor with driver in a while. Once you know it’s awesome, you know.
I might be moving into irons that produce a little lower spin, so the XV would definitley not work. I’m really curious to give the diamond a solid run over multiple rounds to see where it stands.
To me, although my experience with the Diamond is limited, the CS X definitely spins more.
I put the Zstar XV in play my last few rounds and like it. Where does the diamond differ? Is it just firmer?
for me it spins more than the XV, which I notice more on my approach shots of say inside 135 yards. I like that it feels more like the Z Star than it does the XV, esp off the putter.
Thanks. The XV has been pretty good through the bag, but greenside spin and off the putter have been my only concerns. I may have to grab the diamond and put it to the test.
I’ve been waiting for Srixon 3 for 2 Father’s Day Deal – Where did you see it?
wish the diamonds were in stock for the sale
Battery on the phone was light on percentage. I needed a quick cliff notes.
I really like them. Really similar to the XV with a little more spin and higher launch.
More of what I need minus the spin. I’ll give them a go. It’s been awhile since I’ve gamed a Srixon ball.
Academy has them on sale. 3 dozen for $78… not bad
I thought about doing the same because I’ve played it my last 4-5 rounds.

Can’t wait to hear what you think. If I can get same results off the tee and with irons as the XV’s then more spin on chips and pitches, I’m all in.
It has to beat out the CSX in terms of performance tee to green. It’s a tall task and the XV almost did it, but wasn’t quite there.
I still have some of these here. I hear them talking to me from the other room now. Thanks.
Overall it feels a little firm compared to the CSX. Nothing bad, but I could tell off the irons and putter
I like the ball and it will be a great back up, but once this lot is used up, I’m going back to the CSX
