As a brand, STITCH Golf has truly begun to hit their stride, especially when it comes to their golf bags. The lynchpin to that success has arguably been the SL2 with its extreme attention to detail and top of the line effectiveness as a carry bag. So, when we found out that the SL2 GEN 2 carry bag was on its way, we were beyond excited to bring first look information to our readers.
STITCH SL2 GEN 2 Carry Bag
How good does STITCH feel about what they have created with the new SL2? Good enough that they are calling it “The Perfect Walking Bag”. As always, the brand has gone all in on blending design and function to take what made the SL2 so successful and build on it.
The body of the bag utilizes the “STITCH Touring Fabric” which is a proprietary design used in their golf bags which has the strength and appeal of leather, while being more durable, lightweight, and water resistant. Another key attribute is the ability to change the strap orientation of the SL2 GEN 2’s to be either a double, or single, depending on what is required on a given day.
In terms of layout and weight, the GEN 2 is a 4-Way top that includes a lift-handle, and the overall bag comes in at 5 lbs. Even with that weight though, there is no shortage of bells and whistles with the bag having a full length apparel pocket, magnetic golf ball pocket, felt lined valuables pocket, and stretch construction built around the heavy duty YKK zippers. Not to mention, STITCH listened to feedback and there is added padding for hip support when carrying as well as wider leg stance and a water bottle pocket.
The Details
As always, there is a high level of quality attached to any stitch product, and with that comes a price point in line with what you are getting. For the new SL2 GEN 2 carry bags, STITCH has priced them at $398. The GEN 2 will be available starting today, 4/29/24 and offered initially in Onyx, Stitch Blue, Midnight, and Glacier White color options.
For more information or to pick one up, check out their website at www.stitchgolf.com.
That’s a good looking bag, sounds like they have thought of nearly everything.
I like the carry options with the straps and the added padding, if you are going to carry it needs to be your way and comfortable.
Stitch makes great looking, minimalist bags. I’m hoping they do not have the stitching issues the first gen had.
I’ve been waiting on this one, so I was really excited when the details came through. I like the modular designs, but the SL2 has always been the one I enjoyed the most from Stitch. Hope to get one in person at some point to really see the improvements first hand!
Looks good. The tweaks make sense rather than a complete redesign.

Agreed, and their materials are freaking badass, so I’m glad it wasn’t a total overhaul.
Great looking bag with impressive features. Never have actually seen a Stitch bag in person but have always marveled at the pictures on the forum and on social media.
Nice looking bag but i feel like it needs like 1 more pocket at first glance.

Fair, it’s intent is to be on the minimalist side for walkers though, they do that really really well.
But I too like pockets haha
Nice write-up @Jman. Here is my bag in Stitch Blue with old school pom-pom headcovers.

I need 5 of them!
-Wallet/Phone
-Rangefinder
-Gloves/pullover if i bring one
-Balls
-Small pocket for tees and ball markers/divot tools/marker
I like the addition of the magnetic ball pocket. I hope the back/hip padding has increased as they mentioned. I like my Stitch bag for walking 9 holes or more. The only issue I have with my bag is that the stitching around the zipper has started to fray.
Their stuff is so so clean, love their bags.
The bag looks really great. If I was a dedicated walker I’m looking at this one.
Always loved their bags…simple, but great design.
Still use their UGB all the time when I travel
Like I said I love a good magnet pocket!
Looks like solid improvement.
I’m usually not a light blue fan but that Stitch Blue looks really nice
Those look good
I’ve had a SL2 bag for 4+ years. Really nice and durable. But…mine came with the single strap and I can’t retro fit a double strap to it. I much prefer a double strap for walking. So…I use the Stitch if I’m riding or using a trolly and a Mizuno K1-LO if I’m carrying.
Decided I want one
This thing is so well done

What are the biggest differences in between the original and the 2.0? I have been enjoying my OG, but I get a decent amount of tangle and prefer the Hyperlite for rounds where I actually carry.
Magnetic golf ball pocket!!!
I wish more bags would go back to that. I know it’s simple and likely dumb, but I used it so much on other bags.

Been eyeing one hard for carry days

The better padded support is the first thing that stood out to me.
Better zippers in my opinion and overall construction.
Its still a small opening and 4 way, which I like.
Better legs in my opinion as they are definitely wider and a water bottle pocket are nice. I cant remember if the original had that.

The original has a water bottle pocket but it is not great, a bit stiff kind like the zippers/valuables pouch. The legs are infuriating to me for such a quality bag. Almost tipped my bag over yesterday on quad trying to pull something out.

Yeah legs are wider and similar to my ZTF now in terms of space. Pretty sturdy.
I don’t think I will be in the market now, but want to check it out at some point. Thanks for the feedback @JB
Looking solid!

Original legs sucked bad, but if they addressed that issue it’ll be a heckuva bag

Yeah, that and the valuables pocket have frustarted me… Still use it and on my push cart it isn’t bad, but for carrying, I have not loved it. When I go to Ireland I am taking my Hyperlite. The 2.0 sounds like it would be a solid model.
Great looking bag JB.
I just picked up the SL2 Airwalker and so far I am very happy with it. It is about a pound lighter than the new SL2 which I like in a carry bag. I got caught in heavy rain the other day and it is not as waterproof as the SL2. The legs on the new bags are super stable and it carries really well. There is a bit less space than the new SL2 but I find it to be enough and the pockets on the bottom help it carry well.
I am happy with the bag so far but I only have a couple of rounds on it so far.
One trip in and I really like what I am seeing. Love the opening, things slide in and out.
Love the legs and they are holding up much better than previous.
I would like another ring for towel and such, but outside of that, love it.
These are great looking bags. My golf club has one with our logo on it and I’m so tempted to pick one up. Overall, Stitch is my favorite apparel brand, but their equipment game is solid.

So… I know it’s minimalistic, meant for walking. Think you could get away with this as your “always use” bag?
I’m too lazy to switch out clubs from one bag to another depending on use… I sometimes walk, sometimes ride, and always travel with my clubs. Would there be any shot of squeezing rain pants and jacket into that long pocket, if needed?
Right now it is actually and it fits most of what I need
This bag is fantastic
How is the wear on the bag? The stitching around the the zippers have started to fray and there is a large wear spot forming from near the hip pad on my SL2 gen 1.

I don’t have either of those things on this one.
I have been wanting to pick up another bag and was not finding something that caused me to pull the trigger. However, with the 40% off right now, I decided to give this one a go. I am hoping that where it is lighter, it will work well on the Volt electric push cart and also serve as a carry bag when I walk 9 holes.

This will be my 2nd season.
We would hope for better wear than that. This will be more of a backup bag for me. I have read a lot of good things about them, so I am very interested to see it in hand. I am more of a minimalist when out on the course, so I don’t need all the storage that some do.

I’m with you on the minimalist side of golf. It’s a great bag for that. Even with the wear patch and the stitches coming out at the pockets my Gen 1 is a great looking bag and I still get compliments on it. When I want to carry it is the bag I use. No fatigue after the round like I get when I use a pushcart.
