TaylorMade Golf Company today announced the release of the new Ghost Tour Black Series putters, inspired by the company’s four most classic shapes and updated with a new deep-milled aluminum insert to deliver an aesthetically pleasing, tour-validated lineup – offering the perfect blend of performance and craftsmanship in each piece.
The Ghost Tour Black series, already in play on various tours worldwide, is comprised of two blade styles: Daytona (shown) and Indy, as well as two mallet styles: Maranello and Monte Carlo, each seductively designed to deliver the sound and feel demanded by the game’s best players in traditional putter shapes.
Ghost Tour Black putters feature a rich, dark glare-resistant PVD coating, designed to deflect the sun’s rays and deliver a visually attractive design to complement the line’s performance features. The contrasting white line on the trailing edge forms a confidence-inspiring alignment aid and race-inspired paint schematics add a sleek, fast appearance.
In addition to the new matte black finish, highlighting the Ghost Tour Black series is the introduction of a deep-milled 6061 13-gram aluminum insert, inspired by Tour player feedback and engineered to deliver a crisp, clean feel off the putter face and a smooth, accurate roll.
The rough surface of the Ghost Tour Black’s deep-milled insert softens the sound at impact, delivering more auditory feedback preferred by better players. The aluminum insert differs from the polymer found in the original Ghost Tour line in that it provides a wider variance in sound off the clubface, allowing players to more accurately determine how well they’ve struck a putt.
“With Ghost Tour Black, we’ve taken tour-proven, classic designs and updated them with an all-new milled aluminum insert to give golfers precise auditory feedback,” said Clay Long, TaylorMade’s Director of Putter Product Creation. “These putters have been meticulously engineered to deliver golfers the sound, feel and performance sought by the best players in the world.”
Specs, Availability and Pricing
Ghost Tour Black Series putters are available in 33”, 34” and 35” lengths in each model, with both standard and upgraded grip options. Standard model comes with Golf Pride rubber red cap grip, while the upgraded model includes a Super Stroke mid-slim 2.0 grip.
All four models carry an MSRP of $139.99 USD for standard version and $159.99 for upgraded version with Super Stroke grip.
TaylorMade has indicated they are very excited about this new series of putters based on early feedback. Stay tuned to the THP forum for in-hand pictures and feedback soon.
Oh man they look fantastic. TaylorMade has really made some strides this year in putters as well as the rest of the line, I can’t wait to see your in hand pics Ryan.
Really like the looks of the Daytona.
I like that there are black options to the Ghost line. Just never cared for white putters.
To be perfectly honest, they look cheap but that may just be the photos. Would reserve judgement until seeing in hand photos or getting my hands on one. Have never been a huge TM putter fan but would be interested to see what they have here.
The price point is pretty good but not sure the looks are doing it for me.
Looks like a nice putter. I’d love to try it out against my THP-gifted Clay Long Personal Edition milled face blade putter.
I really enjoy your writing, Hawk. This one was especially well done. Thanks.
Nice write-up Hawk. I like the looks of this putter.
I like the looks of these putters and would be interested in giving them a roll.
I just read somewhere that Clay Long is now the head putter designer at Taylor Made, which makes me want to roll these new putters against my Clay Long personal edition that much more.
