Today, TaylorMade Golf announced the signing of world-renowned PGA Teaching Professional Hank Haney to their staff. Haney, known for his popular television show on The Golf Channel (The Haney Project), as well as his time spent as the coach for then #1 player in the world Tiger Woods, will represent TaylorMade by playing and teaching with their equipment as well as wearing their logo on his headwear and sleeve to go along with a staff bag.
“I’m excited about working with TaylorMade Golf as they are clearly the industry leaders in equipment innovation,” Haney said. “We share a great passion for helping golfers of all skill levels improve their game by hitting it longer and straighter more often. I look forward to showcasing all the benefits of TaylorMade’s equipment with my students.”
Haney, who is ranked annually as one of the finest instructors in the world, has coached more than 200 touring professionals from the PGA, LPGA, Champions, European, Japanese, Australian and Asian Tours over the course of his distinguished career. His students have won every major championship in professional golf, amateur golf and junior golf during his 35-plus years of teaching.
“Hank is one of the most respected and recognizable instructors in the world, and his commitment to helping golfers of all skill levels makes him a perfect fit for the TaylorMade brand,” said Chuck Presto, senior vice president of global sports marketing. “He is a powerful global ambassador for the game of golf and we’re excited to be a part of his efforts and impact on the sport for many years to come.”
Haney has authored four books on golf instruction and produced 14 instructional DVD titles, in addition to leading more than 40,000 golf lessons around the world during the course of his career. Haney also serves as Director of Instruction for the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina and operates the Hank Haney Mission Hills Academy at Mission Hills on Hainan Island in China.
Good move for TaylorMade, it will give their great equipment even more exposure to the golfing community which should equal more sales for TM.
Congrats to HH and TM! If both parties are excited and happy about the partnership, then that’s what matters the most.
Nice pickup for TM, I enjoy watching his show on Golf Channel.
Looks like a major win for TM. Will definitely help to push more product through additional visibility (not that visibility is an issue for TM).
Great pick up for TM. Haney will do a great job promoting their product.
That is a great deal for TM. They are making some power moves in golf..
I wonder how much longer Hank’s name will mean much in the world of golf. Not to say he isn’t a great teacher, but without a big name player, will he have the name recognition for much longer?
This is quite a coup for Taylor Made. I wouldn’t be suprised if we don’t see a couple of more big moves concerning TM.
I think it’s a good move for both parties. In reality though it doesn’t matter to me if Hank Haney plays Taylormade or Butch Harmon plays Titleist. I could be in the minority on that.
This is interesting. TM has a lot of Brand Recognition already, I could see this going well for both parties. I imagine he’ll be picking up big time player lacking a coach soon too.
Great move for TM. Haney is an amazing teacher, and he can only help with their branding.
Great move for TM… and I believe the same for Hank. Congrats to both parties!
Big news! I think this is good pairing. It’ll be different to see Haney without the Nike swoosh, but in the end, it doesn’t really matter. Congrats to both.
This is awesome, I like Hank and I’m glad to see him move away from Nike. While Nike is a good company I think it moves him away from being “Tiger’s former teacher” because everyone still saw him wearing Nike all the time. Now this might help him start a fresh identity as just one of the greatest golf instructors in the world.
I agree with INgolfer, I am glad to see him move away from Nike for the same reasons. This should be a good fit for both HH and TM. I’ve always enjoyed watching the Haney Project to get some tips (and watch Barkley’s swing!) and HH seems like a good teacher. I wonder if they’ll do another season, with him being TM staff. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.
Great pickup for TM. I like Hank Haney, but can a golf coach be working for his student’s best interests if he’s plugging one brand of equipment? If Luke Donald was his student, would he be obligated to get Luke to switch from Mizuno?
Interesting move…..I wonder if any of Hank’s non-TM students will follow him?
I think this will be an awesome pairing. I too love the Haney Project and hope that that show had nothing to do with HH being part of the Nike world. I wonder if HH will spend any time at the Kingdom. Talk about an even sweeter experience if that would be the case. WOW!!!
Awesome move for Taylormade and Hank Haney. I love watching Hank teach Charles or at least try to. he is one of my favorite teachers by far.
Nice move for TM. Will he be wearing adidas gear now instead of nike?
I like this move for TalorMade as well. From what I hear from others, their training/teaching staff is already great, and it just got much better with this signing of Hank. I look for the TM staffers to start making their moves with Hank giving them advice on top of their current coaches.
