TaylorMade Hi-Toe 4 Wedges

Hi-Toe 4

Fresh for Fall 2024, TaylorMade Golf is announcing the upcoming release of their newest wedge, named Hi-Toe 4. This line is built with confidence and consistency in mind. By incorporating both improved technologies and a new grind to complement existing options, the company is seeking to help as many players adapt to as many types of course conditions as possible.

“Hi-Toe wedges are a great option for any player who gains confidence from a wedge with a larger face and full-face grooves to ensure maximum spin regardless of where you strike it on the face. Now with Spin Tread RAW face technology and a new array of grinds, the Hi-Toe 4 has more performance and versatility than ever before.” – Matt Bovee, Global Category Director – Irons and Wedges

Hi-Toe 4 grooves

TaylorMade believes that both the large face shape and full-face groove design of the Hi-Toe 4 wedges will give players, whether they have a low, mid, or high handicap, the utmost confidence at address. The company knows that confidence breeds success. With the larger surface area, players can feel confident that they make solid contact, and the expanded groove section ensures they can produce ample spin when manipulating the face.

We all have a different idea of consistency. Some players, for example, may just be looking to make consistent contact. However, when it comes to consistency, TaylorMade is looking deeper. They are trying to deliver consistent spin, launch conditions, and turf performance with a variety of technologies.

Hi-Toe 4 Raw Face and Spin Tread

The Hi-Toe 4 wedges incorporate a handful of technologies designed to deliver spin from a variety of conditions, and while using different face orientations. Their Raw Face Technology is intended to rust, and the company believes this positively impacts spin performance. New to the Hi-Toe line this year is Spin Tread Technology. This laser etching process is designed to promote consistent performance in both wet and dry conditions. This is a technology that can really make a difference, even if just on dewy grass, and we anticipate golfers will find much to like about it.

Toe Mass Pad

Hi-Toe 4 Toe Mass Pad

We’ve seen a definite trend from companies trying to move weight higher in their wedges, and TaylorMade is fully invested in the concept. A higher center of gravity tends to do a couple things: first, it lowers launch angle at impact and second, it tends to result in higher spin rates. The Toe Mass Pad is how the company achieves this with the Hi-Toe 4 wedges. The very prominent upper toe-section is thicker than the rest of the back of the wedge, effectively placing more weight high on the club head. This is a proven way to achieve the specific goal of creating a more penetrating ball flight for almost every type of player, from Tour professionals to high handicaps. The company specifically mentions its benefits to players that may have a scoopy swing that results in higher-than-optimal launch angles.

Milled Grind Sole

Hi-Toe 4 Sole Design

Hi-Toe 4 will come with five different grind options on the Milled Grind Sole. This level of versatility enables fitters to match the ideal wedge to both a swing and course conditions. TaylorMade mills the soft 8620 Carbon Steel to ensure the most precision possible. The grind options include:

ATS – ATS stands for All Terrain Standard grind. It’s a full sole with four-way camber and is designed to be a great all-around grind for a variety of swings and conditions.

ATV – This unique grind features asymmetric bounce and a shallow scoop in the center to keep the leading edge low for tight lies. At the same time, the trailing edge has enough bounce to avoid digging.

ATX – This is a brand-new grind option and features three defined sections that allow its wider sole to play like one with a mid-bounce profile. This grind will benefit better players that play in medium to soft conditions.

ATC – ATC stands for All Terrain C grind. It features a C grind at the front of the sole which will play as lowest bounce option. The reverse C trailing edge incorporates both toe and heel relief for ease in opening the face.

ATW – ATW stands for All Terrain Wide and it’s built to create the most forgiveness in soft conditions and sand. It should be especially helpful for mid to high handicap players with steep swings.

Custom Options

In addition to the various loft and grind options, the Hi-Toe 4 line comes in four different finishes and accommodates custom stamping. Taylormade is particularly proud of the Aged Copper finish, which they believe allows consumers to play something that stands out in the bag. Other finish options include Chrome, Black and Raw. Golfers can now add up to 20 characters, along with logos, to the Hi-Toe 4 when considering custom stamping options.

It’s also important to note that every SKU in the Hi-Toe 4 line will be available in both RH and LH configurations, though certain grinds and lofts in LH will need to be custom ordered.
