For a couple of years now, CG (center of gravity) has been a buzz word when talking about the technology in metal woods, but one thing that is not often discussed is how the movement of it benefits the golfer and more importantly, what impact does it have on other characteristics like moment of inertia.
Odds are you have seen charts with CG placements labeled all over the place or watched ads that feature CG location, but what does that all mean? To get to the bottom of all of it, THP TV went to see Mike Yagley, from Cobra PUMA Golf, and ask the questions that people want to know in this fascinating episode of Tech Talk.
Shot in 4K, so THP recommends full screen viewing

Such an interesting show. I feel like I can have an intellectual discussion about this now. Mike explained it so well. I never understood how COG and MOI worked together. And once again, Dean has stepped into this role like a champ.
Well done bringing it to us at ground level easy to understand terms. Nicely done fellas
Love listening to Yagley’s explanations. Thanks guys!
Wow. That’s a huge amount of knowledge right there. Very easy to understand, and just overall great information. Dean on point with the good questions too!
THE best video on CG I have ever seen done anywhere. Holy crap Yagley dropped knowledge.
Great video with the MASTER breaking down CG and MOI. He is so smart and I actually understand it.
I am more of a front weight guy ever since sldr from TaylorMade. I don’t like lifting up though as it closes the face.
Thank you for putting this together. Prior to watching I generally had no clue what folks were talking about in terms of center of gravity and MOI. The way in which it was explained made me feel less like a noon and more like an experienced pro.
I’m enjoying these slightly longer-form videos a lot. There’s a TON of information to be had here. Yagley does such a good job distilling technical info.
I agree on the longer videos providing for deeper more detailed education. This one was very well done and reinforced so much of what I had come to understand about the dynamic impact cg has on launch characteristics, moi, and ball speed. I appreciate that Yags also broke out the ball speed trade offs that come with super forgiving setups. The Cobra development team is such a straight shooting group of smart guys. I still go back and reference the old T.O. wooden dowel cg measurement video often. Lots of knowledge there and then this new one just builds upon it. Thanks for sharing this, another outstanding interview Dean!
I think this may have been one of the best videos/explanations I have seen.
Another fantastic piece by The Dean and THP – I like the text groahics especially hi launch low spin I hate him now lol
This video makes me want the Cobra Doubleweight driver I need the weight in the back for the MOI and forgiveness but I’m missing right so I want to knock that down
