Last month Cobra Golf dropped their latest hybrid and it was sort of a surprise release timing wise. The Cobra KING Tec Hybrid immediately looked high tech (no pun intended), but how would it perform?
Today we are in the THP Tech Studio for another episode of TESTED! Where you see the swings and get a full breakdown of the data on the new Cobra KING Tec Hybrid. The video below starts off with some technology talk, and we walk you through overhead what is going on with this new hybrid. Then we hop into the hitting bay for some swings and finally, we breakdown the information that the Foresight GCQuad presented and give you some final thoughts.
This episode is full of information and data. Can this hybrid unseat some of their previous offerings with rails? How does the face angle sit and is it prone to hooking? We cover all of it in this review of the Cobra KING Tec hybrid that is just now hitting stores.
After watching the THP TV video above, what are your initial thoughts on this piece of equipment?

Man, it feels so solid! I really think I’m going to get along very well with this club!

The weights when moved effect this club more than any adjustable club I’ve ever hit.
Would you look to replace your three wood or adjust elsewhere in the bag?
I think you should rock the second putter. Dare to be different!
I’m replacing the 3w and 19° hybrid with this 17° King Tec
I don’t encounter to many 240 yard approach shots or greater so it’s pointless to think I’m hitting target from that distance anyways
Well that then begs the question of what additional club with the 2 for 1 switch ?
haha, I’m good with my RadSpeed XB and this 17° hybrid, so will go with 13 clubs like I have for several years.
I’m old and simple ??????
Worth every penny IMO. I can’t wait to put this in play on course this year.
I had a 2 hybrid ponder for a long time. I finally caved. I really excited to see it in action alongside the 3H.
Lofted up to what degree?
I ask as last night I was bombing it but a tad low as 17 degree. Kinda ropey draws that would run for days in the fairway but maybe not a good for green seeking.
I went +1.5 on the 17* So my Driver was +1 my 3W is -1.5 and my 2h is +1.5 or 10* 13* and 18.5*
I’m envisioning going the other way if the 3 wood slot starts misbehaving as my second tee club, or leave it standard if I can get better launch and dispersion with the 2h compared to the 3/4w when it green seeking, or getting just a bit more distance than the 3h to replace that one while keeping the 3 wood in the bag.
Basically with all the adjustability I knew I wanted to have it in the stable to give me top of the bag flexibility.

Kept this one under the close tree and then a little cut around the tall one guarding the green (disregard the chili dip wedge out of the slushy lie ?)
Being able to feel confident of working the ball like that with a hybrid is a neat trick.

I have tried pretty much all the adjustments and those weights and the loft sleeve work as advertised.
I agree. I’ve tried them all and it’s the one club that stops me from purchasing an Apex UW
Me too! Me too!
it’s been fun to set it up depending on what shots I know I’ll have off the tee, course dependent
I’ve been flirting with the thoughts of getting the 4H and taking the two RADSpeed out of the bag. It’s so easy to use. I don’t feel like I have to muscle it to make it work.
winter sucks…
That is all.
I got to hit mine today. I kinda wish they made it in a 15 degree!
Got out today and faced some pretty nasty wind gusts. The boring trajectory of the 2H for me was a champ this afternoon. It just didn’t care about the wind. Part of that may have been tim he toe strike, but even out on the toe the thing just stayed straight.
Such an under discussed club…
The Morgan Cup guys will have some clubs decisions to make. @GraniteRoost @lukemartin93 @mtbloco @HarlettoScara
I’ve never really gotten along with hybrids. Testing the great ones that Cobra offers will be another interesting storyline on my journey to the MC.
I was fine off the deck with them but hook city off the tee with other hybrid models. The RadSpeed hybrid iI still get a little of that with but it’s just not there with the King Tec. Definitely worth testing some.
I do like my hybrids ??
I’m prone to over swinging a hybrid. So go hook City. And try to swing it like a FW since I’m such a sweeper to begin with.
This is great feedback. ?
I love a hybrid in the 3 spot. I really enjoyed plaing F9 Speedback driver and 3w in 2019 but did not get the chance to put the hybrid in play that year. I’ve been looking forward to a Cobra hybrid since.
Try my King Tec. I have never got along with a hybrid until this one. The adjustability with this is what made me take the leap back onto the hybrid train and I love it.
Thanks. I absolutely will. Next time we play!
I think that’s part of it. You can get it dialed in.
I also think there’s something to the MMT shaft to help keep the hooks at bay. Others more knowledgeable in the tech can speak better to it, but I think the metal mesh tip helps stabilize the whole package. Combine that with the PWRSHELL face and it’s bombs away!
You can try mine on Saturday
I don’t have that shaft. I got the same Catalyst 80 that I have in my irons. My biggest problem with other hybrids were they always looked like they would hook at address and I would sometimes draw them and sometimes hook and then over compensate and slap them weak and to the right.
when I tried the King Tec at the standard settings, I couldn’t get the ball to go left and that is what I liked. I then was able to make some small adjustments with the settings and weights to straighten it out.
I have said it before, but I might buy another one of these at some point.
You know it’s a good club when folks go back to get another. That’s what I did in adding the 2 hybrid and I’m not alone in that.
I completely agree with this, the King Tec seemed to arrive without a huge fanfare and has never really got the kudos it deserved, flat out the best hybrid I have ever hit by a country mile. There is an almost certain chance that there will be at least one of these in the bag going forwards.
You’ll love them, can pretty much guarantee it! The moveable weights do more to affect ball flight than any other weight system I’ve used pretty much. Such a versatile club, my only issues with them is that the might cause a gapping question or two because they are flat out rocket launchers!
